This, The Rangers are just overmatched, In fact when it comes to the playoffs nearly the entire league is overmatched against the Kings, This team knows how to win in the playoffs, I can't remember the last time I saw a pure playoff team this good, I don't know If I ever have, (I was not around for Oiler, Habs, Islander dynasties)

That's no rant dude, that's the truth! I'm always amazed at fans complaining about "playoff" rules... can these people not discern entertainment value?? Are they transplanted NBA fans who can't understand that reffing hockey is not like calling any other sport? And that hockey, by it's very nature CAN'T be called like any other sport? I thought the original idea behind the two ref system was for one ref to follow the play and for the other to scope out all neutral zone interference, thus helping us transition out of the "Dead-puck" era. I thought that second ref was our "entertainment value" insurance policy. But no, Hockey has become a special teams battle as penalty after penalty is called. Then more and more new penalties are added every year. This game is being legislated to death. Instead of battling each other, players are whining and diving trying to get the all important special teams advantage. I miss the days when the ref had the leeway to call a game as he saw fit, he could get a feel for what was going on and act accordingly. And that's what people don't seem to understand, THAT is how hockey has traditionally been called, Not like Basketball, not like Football and there are good reasons why that has been the case. Ok, now THAT'S a rant. Oh and if anyone has a problem with anything I just said, I will happily post links to Bobby Orr supporting every point I just made, You can go argue with HIM about it.

Interesting, That's where Naslund used to make his money, I didn't know they had actually been on a line together.....and they were good, you say? -

I don't think there is much "poker" going on with this deal. Tallon has been very open regarding it's availability and appropriate opening bids. The price is going up, depending what bids he's received since then. -

It would be fun if Tallon would make his asking price public, After all the debate we've had here, it would be interesting to find out who was close and who wasn't -

terrible.dee replied to GM PLACE ROCKS's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Definitely, As I've said in past posts any deal for the #1 is predicated on Trev/Benning and our scouting staff really believing Reinhart is a potential #1 center and worth the risk. I'm no expert on evaluating junior prospects, all I can do is read the scouting reports which are full of hyperbole and outlandish comparisons made for the sake of illustration. So, my position is that if our scouts feel Reinhart is worth the gamble, bite the bullet and go get him. If they aren't willing to stake their reputations on it, then pass. -

Nobody is crapping on the 6th, Or even really discussing whether they want to move it or not. The topic of this thread is the acquisition of Reinhart, so you are very likely to get the impression posters feel this move is do or die, since it's the only topic being discussed. -

Why is it absurd? Can you discredit the rumors source? Or does it just sound like a lot to you personally? Getting rid of Phaneuf before his NTC kicks in and Kardri who they don't like, makes perfect sense from Nonuts perspective, Supposedly Ekblad is NHL ready so he fills a slot on their blueline for an ELC cap hit, thus giving the leafs freedom to spend and improve their team elsewhere. The fans and media get off their backs as they wait for Ekblad to get develop and Nonuts gets credit for a "bold move" and saves himself a firing that most people agree he is VERY close to. Actually it makes perfect sense from the Leafs perspective, and is about as far from "absurd" as you could get. At any rate THAT is what we are bidding against, motivated and desperate people. So if you want Reinhart be prepared to meet the current market price, and the price will NOT be painless. -

No, we were not having a general discussion about how one might move up in a hypothetical draft. We were specifically discussing what it would take to move up in THIS draft. If I'm selling a house I price it according to current market value, not last years market or the year before that, or the year after. Market value is dictated by the highest bid. -

That's actually LESS than what ANH offered us at the deadline. But I like it! I think this is one of the few honestly plausible deals i've seen on CDC, Every team gets what it needs, and I would do this deal straight up.... BUT....It won't happen, Trev/Benning are under strict orders to keep the season ticket base intact, and this deal would mean we aren't planning on winning anything this season. Too bad, because a deal like this would set us up for years to come -

I did forget that, In that case it's Kassian or nothing, -

If we did the Kesler deal with ANH we would probably have the pieces to get both, but it would cost us everything we have in terms of tradable assets, We would be going all in on two players, if either or both ended up busts we would be screwed, -

All three GM's have gone on record saying they are "Exploring the possibility" of moving up. So you can certainly take that for what it's worth, maybe they called Tallon inquired about the price and left it at that, But I really doubt it, It's fairly safe to assume the Oilers want Ekblad, We also know the Leafs have offered Kadri plus, for the pick -

terrible.dee replied to GM PLACE ROCKS's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
And I think you should do some research on basic supply/demand principals. With three very motivated teams with higher draft picks bidding against us, the price becomes inflated. It's irrelevant what moving up cost in years past, it's all about where the market is NOW, And right now, 1st overall is worth whatever the highest bid is. Do you really think FLA will look at an oilers offer that includes better prospects and higher picks, then at our Tanev, 6th and a 2nd offer and say to themselves: "Well, the Oiler's offer is better, but Vancouver is offering what teams paid last year, so I guess we have to deal the pick to Van" -

terrible.dee replied to GM PLACE ROCKS's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
True, nobody knows for sure, but it is possible to predict likely scenarios, I think you missed part of my point however, It's not teams with lowers picks we are competing with (You mentioned the 15th pick) it's the teams above us, We all know FLA wants Ehlers or Nylander, and we also know that the Oilers, Flames and Leafs are all bidding for the top pick. It's those 3 teams we have to beat and I believe they would all top Tanev, 6th, Hansen 2nd rounder ect. -
[rumor] benning wants reinhart
terrible.dee replied to GM PLACE ROCKS's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Remember people, we have to top every other team bidding for the pick, AND offer FLA something sexy enough to get them to give it up. 6th, Tanev, Hansen, 2nd rounders ect. DO NOT get us 1st overall. Everyone is coming up with painless deals where we get 1st and keep everything we like. Or including players with NMC's that would never waive to go to FLA. And stop with the Garrison proposals, he walked away from FLA for less money and a NMC, there is no way he's going back. And BTW no one cares about Jenssen, Schroeder or Gaunce, they aren't getting us anything. Here's a good rule of thumb: If the deal doesn't hurt, it probably isn't very realistic. -Kassian and 6th, -Horvat and 6th -Shinkaruk, Tanev and 6th -6th, 2015 1st rounder Hurts doesn't it? Don't like these deals, do you? Well, these are the pieces that get us Reinhart, so if you aren't ready to give them up, then deal with the fact that we aren't getting him. -
Quit being gullible, you are the problem with this team.
terrible.dee replied to canuckster19's topic in Canucks Talk
So, let me get this straight.... 1. The Eastern media hatches a plot to separate the Canucks from their best player, so they start a Kesler wants out rumor. 2. Kesler wants to stay, so he denies it publicly 3. After spending the offseason on CDC Kesler says to himself: : "Wait a sec, these fans are a$$holes! I DO want out!" 4.Coming off a highly successful 13-14 season, the Canucks lose Kesler, nose dive in the standings and miss the playoffs for the first time in.....oh wait -
[Report] Canucks wont ask Alex Edler to waive NTC
terrible.dee replied to AriGold's topic in Canucks Talk
No, humiliate is the right word. That was live on NBC, major network TV all across the continent. He could have sent the message without saying a word, bench Edler for a couple of shifts and leave it at that. I think spasms like that lost the respect of the locker room. I would think most of our veteran team listened to that and thought: "God...we have 6 year old for a coach?" Thrown in the Calgary incident (Which I thought was hilariously entertaining) where I'm sure the team was thinking: "So what if they are starting thier 4th line? start the Sedins and NOTHING will happen!" And you have a team that doesn't trust it's coach, -

Quote of the day!!! haha!!!!!!!! -
Yeah....maybe.... Eh....I don't know.....there seems to be something inherently wrong with a pro athlete, and a light one at that, not being able to do a chin up, I can do a few reps and I sit at computer all day. When I think about someone that weak playing a 200ft. game from center ice, I find myself wondering if he would ever be able to win a puck battle. These days most NHL'ers are incredibly strong, benching their own weight through several reps and squatting the weight of a small car.

Yeah....CDC....what cha gonna do...
