I think it's a pretty safe bet that it was McCann I've never heard that many complaints about a rookies personality, hockey people are so tight-lipped. Whatever McCann is like behind closed doors must be excruciating bad to get hockey people mentioning it in the media., where there's smoke there's fire and McCann was sizzling all summer. BTW I believe the one and only reason we have Gudbransson today, and why we saw the "once in a decade" trade in the playoffs was because JB had one objective in mind from the day the Canucks season ended, an objective that Im sure most players screamed at him during their exit interviews: GET McCANN OFF THIS F$#KING TEAM! Some day I would like to know what he did to piss everyone off so badly,

Ok, that does it I'm calling you out for being on the payroll Either your a top level troll who has invented this to persona to make CDC squirm (in which case much respect, I salute) or you get paid to post this stuff (in which case ....nice gig) But it's one or the other, and I'm pretty much convinced it's the latter. All companies hire people to have a presence of their own on pertinent message boards. Hive mentality is alive and people will read an opinion and a minute later start spouting it off as if they are the ones who thought of it first. Doesn't matter what opinion, most people just want to identify with some side of an issue, talk radio being the prime example. If the Canucks didn't have people on these boards trying to keep their image up it would be negligent in this day and age. I just wish they would hire better writers

BOOM! You want the truth CDC? You can't handle the truth! And whether you all like it or not (none of us do) THIS is the truth Including that other post being one of the dumbest things I've ever read on here, I've played hockey, I know how the game works, when someone sucks I don't need an "expert" to tell me
-
Thank you, so few people are capable of legitimate critical thinking onCDC, it's refreshing to read.
-
What the hell is wrong with you? Gawd, steer clear of anyone who spends NY eve on CDC Are you not allowed to take a dump till Bmac posts a rumor about it on his twitter? The story as I remember was some media guy between periods, said that if the Canucks wanted Droin, then Stevey Y would ask for Horvat Did he? I don't know. what I do know is that you shouldn't take trade rumors so personally, it's creepy

Well, I hope your right I can't remember the last time a defenseman took THAT long to develope though, Chara?

ARRG! Stop with the "JB is great at the draft" BS HIs first pick is buried in the minors and is showing slight but visible bust tendencies His second major pick was made sheerly out of panic when the Jackets caught him flat-footed, so he grabbed the safest pick he could think of, unfortunately when that pick showed up for camp it was painfully obvious that he was not able to compete for a spot andf was sent home early, all this while people drafted after him are currently playing in the NHL, the same goes for the first guy. There are guys who were picked after these two who are already NHL stars, and you guys are still brainwashed into saying JB is a great drafter? Yes Trymikin is a great pick, but this GM blew two critical picks really really badly, don either, our draftees contemporaries have proved that to be BS, the good pickS can already play, they aren't sent home from training camp early and having trouble contributing in the minor leagues, And don't give me that pie in the sky somewhere over the rainbow stuff The truth is black and white. the truth is in TODAY's NHL stat lines and box scores Go look at the cold hard facts and they will tell you that if JB was caught short on the crapper, he wouldn't draft a roll of Scott's two-ply
-
He is already FAR more important then Gu8dbransson Unfortunately, whether people want to admit it or not, Gudbransson is a liability on the ice, he can't play the NHL game to the point where he can contribute or just not make the players around him worse,, the sooner Gudbransson is off this team the better. If he stays I would bump him up to forward and have him be a 4rth line enforcer,

No, they don't, high-end D like Ekblad for instance play right away because they are...you guessed it HIGH END That is a cliched excuse, do not state it as fact for it is easily disproved Calling Juolevi a top 4 D as if it is a given is just bizarre, he is not anything close to that, and based on his dismal training camp there is reason to be VERRY concerned with his ceiling MT's ceiling is doing just fine thank you very much. And D are not more valuable than forwards: Centers>Dmen>Wingers>Goaltender
-
Do you have any idea at all how baseless nearly every point you made is? And how the tiniest dash of critical thinking would leave you embarrassed to have written it? You are regurgitating lame cliched excuses as if they were actually true. And worse as if they are original conclusions you have come to on your own, I am so tired of picking apart thoughtless posts, If I had you on the stand I would eat you for breakfast I cannot stem the tide of millennial ADD reasoning, I'm tapping out But before I go let me say this , A wall painted white is a wall painted white, just because you point at it and say "No No this wall is black" does not make it any less white. Results are results and mediocrity is mediocrity you can parrot the clubs spin of the week if you want, though I 'm sure you don't even know you're doing it, some of us tell the truth as it exists and that truth is that Joelevi's pathetic camp leaves no doubt he was an unwise pick at #5, and as for Virtanen, if his work habits were exemplary then there would be less cause for concern but the odds are overwhelmingly against him being a top 6 player at this point, and his work habits need work. The problem is that Jake is failing for all the reasons everyone knew, and Juolevi seems highly unlikely to be a high impact talent, these were two crucial picks and in both cases the better options were obvious, and have already proved they would have been better picks.

This, Hard work and dedication are the great equalizer They make 4th liners into second liners (Burrows) And first liners into AHL players (Jake)
-
You guys just believe everything you see in print huh? And in regards to detailed analysis of Jakes diaper rash... WD is the coach of the Vancouver Canucks, not JV's personal autobiographer, why the hell should he spend all his media time picking apart the game of a guy who wasn't even playing like he gave a $&!#. You guys need to be a little more critical when it comes to the media, i have noticed an alarming number of CDC's buying every spin that is put out there even when they are obviously trying to snow you. Don't be idiots people

Damn, I hadn't thought of that I was at the game in ANH that got Bourdon sent down for the last time. Some Duck broke in one on one with him, busted out a move and beat him clean to score a goal I was close to the ice and saw the look on his face, it was clear he understood that play had ended his hopes of playing in the nhl that year, he skated towards the guy who scored, shrugged his shoulders as if to say " sorry, but i've got to make the best of this" dropped the gloves and fought him. I don't remember who won, but I remember liking his attitude and his " beat me on the play, I'll beat on you after the play" policy, I remember thinking he would definitely have an NHL career after that. He had major league guts and I think would have been a guy who set the competitive tone, like Burrows. RIP

RACISM! I've been a victimized! BINGO! Someone write me a check (That's how this works right?)

What we are comparing is how each player could impact the team's fortunes going forward, Honestly, that should be obvious
-
1. WRONG guys in his draft class are already NHL players making an impact on their team, They ALREADY have NHL ability. One of them is already a superstar, so no ALL players do NOT need to "work on their game" their game is good to go. 2. If this were the case, if he was so far ahead of the pack mentally he would be playing here now in a style similar to Tanev that didn't rely on brute force. But he isn't, proving conclusively that he does not,,at this time possess star hockey IQ, maybe for major junior he does, but if he were that good he would be here helping us. 3. Why does a #5 overall need hockey lessons? Maybe later picks but NOT a #5 4. Ah, the old invisible superstar trick "this guy ios soooo good, but he's so good you won't ever notice he's good" Total BS Canadian hockey fans have all played the game and understand what they are watching, if a guy is unspectacular, that's because he is in fact, unspectacular. The invisible superstar concept was invented by coaches GM's and media to make excuses for underwhelming performances. And don't start with the "all you want is a big hit breakaway goal" stuff, the only people who judge all players like that are under 10 years of age, this is an educated fan base and we know what to look for
-
Absolutely, Just remember that whether he becomes a regular NHL player is beside the point, it's whether he was the right pick for the Canucks at #5 in the year he was chosen for that to happen he would need to have greater TANGIBLE impact on the Canucks moving towards cup contention than any other player that should have reasonably been on their radar, including the guy the Jackets mugged us for If he becomes a star and the other are meh, you win and the reverse applies as well. My gut forces a #4 defenseman 15-25 pts 25 PIM 18:00-20:00 TOI a decent but unspectacular, #5-6 on a really good team I do not see this guy as the 2nd coming of Mathias Ohlund and I definitley think time will show the pick could have been better spent in a number of different places.

It's Christmas people are focused elsewhere, It's going to be an interesting contract negotiation if Gudbransson can't improve his body of work before season's end.
-
You are completely ignoring the facts and the average rate of success based on where he is at, and your excuses are just weak, the injury is no excuse for his last junior year, it WAS a good reason not to draft him however, missing so much time at crucial junctures is a big red flag, as is an inability to put up points in the minors, spin these any way you want. The facts are the facts Do other fan bases rate their clubs drafting honestly and intelligently, and not buy into hype and excuses for poor drafting? Yes, you should try it Do other fan bases

Sorry dude, that doesn't hold water. Saying he "probably" would have made the PHO lineup is pure fantasy, they have more impressive individual talent then we do, on paper they are better and that means he would have LESS chance, But the nail in your coffin is the fact that this kid wasn't pushing for an opening day spot, he wasn't neck and neck with tenured vets, clawing for that last spot.... he....wan't.....even....,.,.close NEVER EVEN CONSIDERED, sent packing with the lamest most cliched hockey excuses echoing from the PR department as he left It was even intimated that he doesn't yet have that coveted "NHL body" and according to Wille it will be sometime before he is NHL ready and after all this you say he cracks the PHO opening night roster? I think you have shown yourself to be somewhat detached from reality regarding this prospect, we all want our picks to do well, but evidence is evidence and i suggest you start taking the facts into consideration before forming opinions And this is the fact that stands out: The only time this guy was on NHL ice with NHL players, management couldn't ship him off fast enough.......and in an era where top 10 picks are jumping right from the draft to their teams top lines, D pairings and league stats rankings, that is not good enough for #5 overall IT wasn't by design that we got him either, in case you haven't noticed our blueline is crowded with new talent who need ice time to solidify their games, the ONLY reason we have this guy is because Benning was caught flatfooted, He was totally unprepared for the Jackets aggressive move, with his player off the board he panicked and took the safest pick he could think of, knowing that solid but unspectacular Dmen can often be sold as being more effective then they really are (Guddy anyone?) That is why we have this kid, because when the Jackets were hustling to move up, Benning was at the draft table scratching his ass and smelling his finger He may be good down the line, but we are a team DYING for lack of PRIMARY talent, which is really hard to acquire The last time a Canucks GM did that we ended up with a couple of guys named Sedin When you have #5 overall you MAKE something happen, you take a risk, you gamble what you have for a chance at what you NEED
-
Did he say anything Wille specific, or is it just raving about Green? The kid is a bit of a politician, he knows WD may not be around by the time he gets there, and the most likely candidate to replace is the guy standing behind him
-
Linden in 88 Nedved in 90' and Bure in 91' (I think) are the three impact right away guys I can think of God when you really think about it,: Hodgson Schroeder White Jensen Kolstov Smith Bourdon (RIP) Shinkaruk Oh, Matias Ohlund whose first season was 96' I think tyhat was the last player, T

Being a power forward drafted as high as he was means that he SHOULD have plenty of skill to go with the power, this is a time when 18-year-olds step into the league right away and distinguish themselves as being top end talent, regardless of position the fact that Jake was unable or unwilling to do that indicates that he probably should not have been drafted as high as he was, a project like what he has become is more of a later in the 1st type of thing, or not in the 1st round at all. that is what the other poster is saying, that and if Jake had the high-end skill we were led to believe made him worthy of spending that big of an asset born him, it would have revealed it'self by now, style of play is no excuse as top end skill rises to the top regardless it funny forall the talk about slow prospect development in the nhl, the truley important players rarley need it..
-
Have he and his agent put together a plan for getting him out of Vancouver? His game is that different this year, why is he playing the way he is? it isn't by accident.
-
the good news is, that this typical development growing pains for power forwards once they aren't beating up kids in junior it takes a lot of adjusting in order to learn to play in the NMHL, unlike mother types of players the whole game goes outa the window (unless your name is Lindros) this happened to Bertuzzi, Neely, Stephens, the list is a mile long the bad news is this development curve ended the careers on Antoski, Sandlack aet etc and equally long list
