@drummer4now -- One of the dumbest move in sports history?!? Yikes. I wouldn't have called it *THAT* (there's a lot of more dumb moves) but it was definitely a risk that paid off.
Demar may come back. Hard to say. But at the end of his deal, will he be needed?
Also, I don't think you realize how bad the East actually is in the NBA. The Raptors will still be a playoff team but it'll be tough for them to get out of the 2nd round. They have some very good young players in Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet, and OG Anunoby... they also have one of the best G-League programs that has churned out NBA players and is responsible for the massive leaps Siakam and VanVleet, in particular, made.
I have faith in this team and the Raptors do have one of the Top 3 NBA executives in Masai Ujiri manning the ship so it won't be as catastrophic as you think... They won't be able to repeat but at least they're not set up to die like the Cavs did when Lebron dumped them both times.

Ray Ferraro brought up a good point: We improved our defense but where will our scoring come from? Pierre McGuire added that our PP has to be better and noted our new additions. McGuire went further, saying that if we have a Top-15 PP, we will be in the playoff hunt. Agree or disagree?

we’ve had trouble generating secondary scoring for quite awhile. hopefully, they find a scoring winger for bo and pearson. truth is we don’t have much scoring from our 3rd and 4th line. we should get more from our defense, but if we don’t, we’ll falter again.
teams know if they stop our top line, we struggle mightily. weaned output from baertschi, leivo, virtanen and roussel. gusev might help if he is picked up.

Miller Pettersson Boesser not hard to imagine 30 goals from each, 30 assists
Pearson Horvat Eriksson 25 goals, 25 assist from this group, tho I'm high balling Eriksson on last years production when this line was put together
Sutter Beagle Virtanen We should be able to expect 15-20 goals from each person on this line.
Roussel Gaudette Leivo Should be able to rely on these guys to be in the 8-15 range for goals
Then for the defense, if we can manage at least 10 goals apiece, that is another 60....
Might need Markstrom to go for the long bomb a couple of times, but the goal output isn't unreasonable, and anything extra is just icing....exciting icing.
Oh, and I forgot about Baertschi and Goldobin in this mix....I didn't forget about Schaller tho...but that's because I don't see him here except for injury call up.

Congrats to Michael Del Zotto for winning the Stanley Cup!

Tryamkin-Dobson
Juolevi-Liljegren
Please JB make it happen

65 seconds, down by 8. Can Brady pull off another Brady?
-
Subban to Vancouver... what about Ekman-Larsson?
ARI: Tanev + VAN 1st (top-3 protected pick)
VAN: Ekman-Larsson + ARI 2nd
-
Quick Saturday night three way...
EDM: Horvat + VAN 2nd + *TOR 2nd
TOR: Tanev
VAN: Draisaitl + Liljegren
*Edmonton receives the highest of Toronto's two second round picks
Draisaitl + Pettersson + Gaudette down the middle. Juolevi + Liljegren dictating play from the backend.
-
Quick three way:
COL: Hutton + Goldobin + MTL 1st
MTL: Duchene + VAN 2nd
VAN: Galchenyuk
Fair value?

Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Penguins for winning back-to-back Stanley Cups. Can the Penguins pull off a three-peat?
-
Just noticed.. Nashville trades Shea Weber #6 and signs Yannick Weber who wears #7 lol
-
I'm thinking of joining an adult instructional hockey group locally here at 8 Rinks. Has anyone here been to one before?
-
Drouin + 14th overall pick for Tanev + 5th overall pick?
-
Do Dallas and Colorado pick a defenseman at #3 and #4? Might leave Benning with his choice of Vilardi, Glass, or Mittelstadt.
-
Canucks should explore trading Edler to the Penguins for Maatta+pick. Retain salary so it's Edler@3M to get a higher pick or additional picks.
-
I like the Virtanen pick, but something in my gut tells me that if we drafted Ehlers instead Benning would have drafted Tkachuk to get that physicality. Imagine our top line... Tkachuk, Horvat, and Ehlers with Boeser and Baertschi on the second line...

Ehlers has cooled off the past 9-10 games it was reported somewhere..I think JV hit a speedbump somehow but I think he can catch up to Ehlers especially in the playoffs where physicality and speed are important.
Passing up a top 6 big forwardc like Tkachuk was a huge mistake and I think were going to have to wait at least 4 years for Julevi to push for a spot.

The other thing is that VIrtanen is 20. He's got a lot more hockey to play before he can even be put in the "bust" category. A year or two in Utica isn't the worst thing. Remember, it took Bertuzzi (the player Virtanen gets compared to often) until he was 25 to find his NHL footing. Patience will be key with Virtanen. Just because Ehlers and Nylander are producing now doesn't mean Virtanen won't be producing later. Personally, I'd rather have Virtanen, Horvat, Boeser, Juolevi, and the rest producing all together in two seasons rather than have one player sort of producing now on a teaming that's meandering around.
Also, it could be worse -- we could've selected Michael Dal Colle instead of Virtanen had Virtanen been plucked by the Islanders with the pick before. (Though, I doubt that, I suspect had Virtanen gone #5 that the Canucks would've likely selected one of Ehlers or Nylander over Dal Colle).

unofficially back on tanknation. hello timothy liljegren
-
With the Sedins aging and this team needing top-end scoring very very soon, we prolly should've drafted W. Nylander and Tkachuk...
Tkachuk - Nylander - Boeser
Baertschi - Horvat - _______
Hutton - Gudbranson
Tryamkin - Stecher
Demko
(disregard my comments in the 2014 Draft 6th Overall Poll lolllll)
-
People expect rentals like Hamhuis and Russell to fetch a quality prospect and a 1st, but cry when we give up a quality prospect and a 2nd for Gudbranson who is just as good now, who will only get better, and who we can potentially have for the next decade. Makes sense.

Blom's word of the day: OHHHHHHHHhhhHhHhHhHhhhh!!!!!: exclamation; said out loud when reacting to crap that happens on Jerry Springer or Maury.
