Irregardless, Virtanen won’t cut the strings on his mitties. -
Shoulda taken Sergachev or macavoy

You know what F***s everyone and it’s often overlooked, because people in the early 80s just passively accepted it? Is compounding interest on mortgages. My grandma told me that back in her day, if you bought a house for $50,000 at 1% interest, you’d pay $500 interest for the duration of the mortgage.

(Rumour) Barrie on the move?
Standing_Tall#37 replied to 70seven's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Babcock’s ego is in the way of Barrie’s success in Toronto. Something has to give in that situation. He was a top 15 D-man in the league the 4 years previous, some might argue 5-10ish. Playing 12 minutes a game the last few for a D-man that put up just shy of 60 points last couple of seasons, is mind-boggling. -
The reason he got fired was BS. But I’d say he definitely should have retired about 10 years ago. He just kind of rambled on about useless facts from 40+ years ago in most cases.

It may be even higher than that when you consider that global is a state run media pushing an agenda.

Yea, the analysts tend to agree that a player is 90-100% of what they’ll be by age 24. I remember that draft and Tkatchuk was the bpa available. Sergachev was the highest skilled D, but the Canucks felt OJ could add D skills that Sergachev couldn’t. I was hesitant to ride the hype train as OJ had played on a London team PP with Tkatchuk, Marner and a 3rd 1.5ppg player(my memory is escaping me of who but I think it may have been the younger Strome)

I don’t think people dog on it because he won’t make it. I think that people are sour towards this pick because there was about 10 better picks at the point, 5 of them were D-men. Generally top 5 overall should be allstars by the time they’re 24. This is Rodin2.0. But I guess sometimes everyone swings and misses.

Time to give it up guys, he’s done. An official bust. Just wish we would have traded down and taken him 15th overall. At least we have redemption in Hughes and possibly Woo.
