  1. His dad has dual citizenship, but Jake can speak fluent Finnish.
  2. Yeah I've noticed quite abit his wrong reads, but I have notice he collapses and gives good support. This says to me, he is defensively responsible although maybe not complete in that aspect & I think that will go a long way in improving his chances of making the big club next season. It'd be nice for Horvat and Virts to have 3-4 seasons of big league experience when the Sedins retire.
  3. Lol, I feel the same about most places south of 100 mile.
  4. No reason to get angry...if I remember correctly, about 5 days ago you were one of the people pushing the hardest to send him down. If you feel bad about that, it's no reason to turn on your bitch-switch.
  5. Let me ask you this... How many top 6 players in the last 15 years or even top 3 d-men have we developed? Some teams can do this but our development is amongst the worst in the league. Some guys are better developing in the nhl over 3-4 years, starting with little minutes and earning their ice time with experience. Some players bust because they play in leagues they're to good for. You only get good by playing against better players. Better to play up to a level, then get bored by playing down. Pretty disrespectful thing with Bourdon...you should just admit you hate French people and move on. Making fun of a dead guy is not cool.
  6. Exactly it would be way better to develop him as a career AHLer. Like Rodin, or Schroeder or White or Rai or Sauve or Ellington or shirokov or...
  7. That's a good thing when put in a defensive roll on the 4th line.
  8. I for one am happy that they're starting this kids development the right way, I don't expect much out of him. I think he'll have growing pains and won't be dominate. However the more experience he gets, he'll be good. By 22he should be a decent NHLer and by 24 he'll be a top 6 maybe even top 3. Not like these kids they try to bring in at 23 or 24 and then wonder why they bust. When was the last time we had a rook that we drafted in the lineup before age 20? The Sedins??? Kesler maybe? We've had some of the worst development in the nhl for 10+ years and yet some people still believe that young guys should develop in the ahl and jrs . News flash, great players become great by playing against top talent asap. You get worse by being dominant against shitty players. This is a new leaf for this organisation and hopefully Bo succeeds.
  9. Is this a good trade? I don't watch enough baseball but it seems to me they got a #5 in the rotation pitcher... Thought they could get more for Lind than that....
  10. Bingo! I think people here are to hard on 18 & 19 year olds. At 20 I believe the criticism is becoming fair and if they have yet to experience the nhl at 21 or 22, they probably are gonna bust. But game changers are usually in the nhl by 20 and starting to make an impact at 23 or 24. People forget that not every 1st rd pick is a Crosby, Tavares, Kane, stamkos or mackinnon.
  11. Sheesh.....if this is his prime, I'd hate to see him in the decline years.
  12. Yup, if he don't make the jump now, he's at risk to join the likes of Chipchurra, Beach, Gaunce, Angelo Esposito, Colborne, Paarvi-Svenson, Howden, Strome, Etc...
  13. JV is in Calgary right now preparing for hitman camp. Don't think he makes it this year on the nucks, but hopefully he dominates Jrs and comes in as a rook for the 15-16 season.
  14. In all fairness, he's a not bad sniper when on the ice. Janssen on the other hand, he's usually reliable at saves
  15. Wow I was just looking for shits and giggles. Romero and Drabek sure fell off...wonder if either will ever make the majors again as they both are struggling in the minors.
  16. He won't play here 1) he wants to win a cup 2) amount of travel out west leads to quicker declines 3) to much respect for the flames to play for a rival
  17. I wanna hear it in 5 years when Ehlers has yet to play a full season in the nhl
  18. I'm so glad we didn't pick nik "guaranteed bust" Ehlers with the 6th
  19. Coffey was drafted what? 40 years ago??? How is that even relevant. In 94 Jovanovski was drafted 1st overall, smyth was 6th. In 91 Lindros was drafted 1st overall, Forsberg was 6th. I would almost think both of those are even, hell maybe I'd say forsberg was the better player. But the nhl has changed in the last 10-15 years, so I'd say anything before 04 is or irrelevant anyways.
  20. He could be Jagr, but then again he could be pavel Brendl, nothing's guaranteed.
  21. Minuscule chance= he gets in car crash the next 3 or 4 days and suffers permanent damage. Reinhart does not make it passed 3rd or 4th. I could see Bennett sliding to 6th as a result of his "performance" at the combine
  22. Well we could have gone Johnny checking fwd- bob shutdown center- frank 2nd/3rd line winger Darcy tough guy- Daryl gritty face off/PK specialist- someone better than Archibald To rd out the bottom 6. Top 6 looked plausible.
