  1. that's what many said about Fluery & Price, they went 1st & 5th overall respectively.
  2. I also predict Thatcher Demko may go to Buffalo, Calgary or the NYI. Maybe giving us a selection of Bennett, Drasaitl or Dal Colle, depending on what the other 2-3 teams want(no way Reinhart or Ekblad fall out of the top 3)
  3. He has the intelligence but not the speed. Secondly Horvat > Gaunce. Center depth Henrik Kesler Mathias Richardson Shroeder Do you really see 2 spots opening in the center position, I sure as hell don't I see maybe one & that'll be Where Horvat is. I just don't see him cracking this lineup for at least 2 years. Then he'll be in and out... Kind of like Kyle chipchura potential. Highly touted prospect that plays maybe 30-40 games in the show most season, but ends up in the minors abit. Brent Sutter said he doubts he(Gaunce) ever plays a reg. season game in the nhl, I suppose you know more than him. A guy I played with got drafted 6th overall and saw less than 20 nhl games in his whole career. Being a first rd prospect does not guarantee success. But I guess you know more than everyone....so I'm just wondering what part of this season should we expect to see Gaunce cantering Daniel and Burrows? 10 games in? 20? #BetterCenterProspectInNhl
  4. So an over rated 4/5 D-man, a center who probably won't stick in the nhl+ a highly touted prospect aren't worth a kid who'll make the jump right away and be ready to lead in 3-4 years like a landeskog or stammer? Stamkos draft year; 61 GP 58G 47A 105P Reinhart draft year; 60 GP 36G 69A 105P Might be closer to a franchise player then you think...just because this draft ends at #3 doesn't mean the top 2 aren't gonna be good. imo Canucks fans have a tendency of waaaaaay over-value ing the players and prospects we have here.
  5. I was just thinking that... Too many **** in van, I'm thinking, they'd rather listen to one direction or Bieber or something....
  6. + if we got Reinhart I think it'd make sense for him to play with Boho even a PP 5 years down the road with Horvat & Ekblad might be a good combo.
  7. Wouldn't wanna trade Horvat... Or Shink, beyond that, this whole team should be in play. I honestly believe Gaunce will be a 3rd/4th line center if he even makes the nhl. I think if we don't pull some big moves this year, or if we go into it with the same roster, we pick top 3 in the 2015 draft(but that's not a bad thing)
  8. Wasn't Reinhart's #s almost identical to Stamkos?(I remember in his draft year they said he'd only be slightly above average) If Edler was given the ultimatum of waive or be a healthy scratch until someone gets hurt maybe he would? If not could Gaunce and the 6th move us up 3 or 4 spots?
  9. Do you guys think something like the 6th+Gaunce+Edler would be enough to move up to 1st or second? Or would it take something like Kesler+6th?
  10. I don't know if this team could play trap hockey.
  11. wouldnt be surprised if he's not re-signed the new GM will have no ties to him, whereas gmmg tried to shelter his choices to not let them look like as big of fuck ups as they really were.
  12. Didn't you guys learn anything from the Sedins? I mean it was great the 4 years when their skilled shined through and they dominated. But on 1-dimension players when that dimension runs out, what good are they?. Instead of taking a player with 1 tool in the toolbox and hopeing you can develop the others, why not get the guy with lots of tools and hope that he can improve the quality of them. It'd be like having a carpenter coming to repair your house with a butter knife. Sure he might use that butter knife better than anyone around....but what happens when he's gotta pound some nails in? He'd be pretty useless I bet.
  13. 2004 Shnieder- success 2005 Bourdon- (won't comment on tradgedys) 2006 Grabner - ( one great season in nyi, played less than a season for us) 2007 White - complete bust 2008 Hodgson- great player, terribly mismanaged 2009 Schroeder- looking like a bust 2010 no first 2011 Jensen - looks like he may be okay(only 19 game sample size in 3 seasons though) 2012 Gaunce - smart but speed may prevent him from making the jump 2013 Boho, Shink...to early to tell So no we don't even draft players that are likely to have a 5+ season nhl career about half the time. I'd be happy if we could even achieve an nhl player in the first round every year. That's the point I'm trying to make.
  14. I hope they do, I'm hoping that Gaunce gets a couple games to see if he can make the adjustment and I thought Jensen finally looked ready....although he might just be the best of a brutal situation.
  15. We won't. 29 other nhl teams have a fighting chance. I think Ehlers will end up very much like Brule, I just don't think it's worth the risk if Bennett, Drasaitl, Dal Colle or Virtanen are available. I'd say at 10th yes go for it, because beyond 7 or 8 guys this year it's a crap shoot.
  16. Yes, could very well be true, but I'd like to think that most players picked in the top 25-30 should have enough tools in the toolbox to at least be developed into a 3rd/4th liner or a 6th defenseman.
  17. The only place Ehlers is ranked in the top 10 is at Canucks dot com. I think central scouting has him at 13th among NA skaters and iss has him at 13th or 12th overall(not including goalies). So if he's picked in the top 10, technically somebody went off the board.
  18. Scouting, drafting and developing. I think if history repeats itself and the nucks track record remains consistent only 2 players in our prospect pool(Horvat, Shinkaruk) will be full time NHLers and may never hit their full potential, due to this organizations clear weakness of development in the Gillis Days.
  19. Rarely do they even make the nhl on a regular basis beyond the first rd. in the last 10 drafts the Canucks have drafted 61 players, 5 of which have played a full season for us(a full season I considered as 72 games )
  20. I say we take Bennett, drasaitl or dal colle with the 6th. Whichever is available, then we take Ehlers or Kapinen with the 36th. Use the gamble pick in the gamble round
  21. Package it with the 6th overall+Hansen+Schroeder for the 2nd or 3rd overall. Take 1 of Reinhart, Ekblad or Bennett.
  22. I agree 100%, if you want a dominant player, they have to develop in the nhl and be able to adapt, otherwise you might as well trade down and develop, the Toews, Landeskogs, Tavares' of this league don't dominate by spending a year or 2 in juniors and 1-2 more in the ahl. They are usually holding their own as a 2nd or 3rd liner at 18-19, ready to lead at 22 instead of take baby steps into this league. That's why we've had no players develop into dominant players in this organization in the last 10+ years.
  23. Ritchie without a doubt. I know I don't want kapinen or Nylander, they seem way to over-rated. Ritchie reminds me of Bertuzzi and I see Drasaitl as having a great successful season but wonder if he's a one hit wonder. If there's a way to grab Bennett, Reinhart, Dal Colle I say we have to seize it(as long as it doesn't cost Horvat or Shink)
