I kind of see a bit of Kassian in JV tbh. Kassian and JV are both big and can skate well for their size, can shoot the puck, had good numbers in junior, have tools needed to succeed in NHL but never put it together (at least in the beginning for Kassian). It was only till being on the verge of being kicked out of the league did Kassian step up and improved his game.

This is just a subjective statement but I get the feeling that JV is a kid that only starts to get it when $&!# hits the fan. $&!# hitting the fan would be him being benched, playing 5 minutes a game. Will his mental game and confidence be destroyed? Absolutely. And this may sound ridiculous, but JV seems like the type of guy that needs to hit rock-bottom before he can self-reflect and improve and be the third-line winger he can be and not the 1st line winger he wishes he can be.

Yeah, I am not faulting Hughes. Some other guy said Hughes needs to be sent down because Hughes was beat 6-7 times in the D-zone didn't happen at least not 6-7 but twice. -
I actually never thought JV was anything more than a third line player or a complementary 1st/2nd liner. That is why I hated the pick then and i still hate it now.

Lol, what game were you watching? I count two times that Hughes was beat cleanly. The McDavid goal and when Draisatl out muscled him and threw him to the ground. -

FINALLY!!!! They are using Virtanen on the PK. I have never known why it took them this long to consider putting Virtanen on the PK. Best example of how Virtanen can play on the PK would be Micheal Grabner. Virtanen can finally utilize is straight line speed to chase loose pucks and maybe score some goals with the open room in PK. -
LOL have you? It makes a huge difference. The change in radius where it makes him more agile means his skates dig into the ice more. The trade off is that his speed will be lowered because he can't glide as much with the change in radius.

You can put Virtanen on McDavid's wing and even McDavid won't be able to get Virtanen to score. Just look at WJC when Virtanen was placed on the line with McDavid, completely f**ked up that line and Virtanen was quickly removed from McDavid's line. -

He doesn't need to bulk up. Hughes will never be able to push 200 pounds of muscle of his skates. What Hughes needs to do is recognize people who are bigger than him and to use his stick and skating to knock the puck off which he has plenty of times in the game. -

Disturbing Lack Of Under 21's In The Development System
runtzguy replied to ItTakesAnArmy's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
It's okay, our program in Utica sucks. Name one person who has been in the Utica program and has made the jump to the NHL? I rather all our prospects just spend their time either in Europe or college than to be in Utica. -
How the hell did you even remember or find this? O.o

Jake will never be a top 6 forward. However, Jake will be an outstanding bottom 6 forward if only Jake realizes to play to his strength which is to use speed and body size and to forget the fact that he was drafted 6 overall. I bet his draft position is making him think that he can play like a top 6 forward but he should just take comfort that he can be a super strong bottom 6.

[GDT/PGT] Canucks @ Kings - Sep 21st 2019 - 6PM from Salt Lake City Utah

I agree that Sutter should be a winger cause he has a good shot and can occasionally help with draws. However, with Virtanen I don't think an elite center like Mcdavid can make Virtanen play well. Just look at the year during the WJC where he and Mcdavid was placed on the line. Completely useless. -

Not that good of a game for the Canucks but looking forward to regular season to pass judgement -
I don't hate Jake. Just the person who decided to pick Jake Virtanen. It's either Linden, Benning, or Aquilini. One of these 3 is the person I hate.

Dam look at that move from Miller

Didnt Briesbois shoot that?
