People here don't realize players decline. They believe our players can somehow beat father time and somehow play till their 40s.
Miller is 28 right now and will be 29 when he signs his next contract. Let's say he stays and signs a contract with Vancouver. It is definitely going to be an 8 year contract with what he does and brings to the team at around 8 to 8.5 million per year. The time Miller's new contract ends will be when he is 37.
Most players' play fall after 30 but I will assume that Miller can still contribute till the age of 33. That is 4 productive years our of 8.
This means that our window for playoffs/cup is within the next 4 years. So the question is. Do you guys think we can win a cup within the next 4 years with this roster?
Hopefully he comes to the conclusion that we need to trade Miller and Boeser for assets. If we don't, I don't see us making the playoffs until maybe 2030
Boeser is not a guy we want to build a cup contending team around. Boeser would be someone similar to Sam Bennett. Good player but a support guy rather than a core guy. Please trade Boeser
This. This is why you trade Miller this year even if we are in a wildcard spot when the TDL arrives. We are not going to win the cup this year or next year so trading Miller is obvious when his value is at his highest this year.
I agree. We have to trade Miller before TDL. If not it's going to be the same type of thinking that cost us nothing in return for players like Hamhuis, Vrbata, etc
