  1. Not sure what will be lower after tonight's game - the teams' combined save percentages or Evander Kane's credit rating.
  2. Flames-Oilers is like watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians. You don't watch because you like any of the participants or want to see them succeed, but because you want to see trashy entertainment. It's hate-watching more than anything. I wanna see line brawls, bad goaltending, blown leads, cheap shots, whining, crying, media feuds and fights between fans. It's the least we deserve for having to watch either of these teams advance to the conference finals.
  3. The Suns could build the Coyotes a new arena with all the bricks they just laid.
  4. TBH, I think using 'she' as McDavid's pronoun is an insult to women's hockey players. We all know that none of the ladies on the Canadian national team would float like that.
  5. Surprised Nurse can build up that much momentum with his head considering that there's clearly nothing inside it.
  6. Said it a while back, the Rangers are just a fancier version of the Travis Green Canucks - top-heavy roster that relies way too hard on their goalie.
  7. This is the same person who once said that Vancouver is a small hockey market (and that somehow Edmonton isn't). People on this board need to stop engaging with this person and their garbage takes. They're either completely deluded or deliberately trolling us.
  8. People are giving Johnny a hard time and deservedly so, but also curious why Tkachuk seems to be more obsessed with being Ryan Reaves than actually playing hockey.
  9. The Jays' offense has been super hot and cold lately, which IMO underscores the importance of Teoscar. Besides being an excellent hitter himself, he provides lineup protection for Vlad. Without him, teams aren't pitching to Guerrero, so the best he can usually do is chop away for singles. Doesn't help that Vlad's also been getting squeezed on some borderline pitches lately. That being said, they've managed to grind out wins with several of their starters missing time due to injury and rest, so you hope that they'll get going soon.
  10. Hilariously inept. Most people who are this bad at their job don't get to keep it but that doesn't apply to MLB umpires, I guess.
  11. Somehow I knew Vlad was gonna crank the first pitch he saw there. What a machine.
  12. Sheesh, Blue Jays. My heart isn't gonna be able to take 162 games of this.
  13. Just over a year ago, Canada was ranked in the 70s and had to start from the very first round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying. Getting to the World Cup at all from where they began, let alone finishing 1st in the final qualfying round, is a massive achievement for the program. I'd wager that none of us thought any of this could happen so quickly. It's honestly sureal that we're even talking about Canada being in a World Cup draw. Whatever happens, the only thing I really want now is for Canada to prove they belong here, not necessarily through winning but by putting up a good fight. They have strong pace down the wings that can give opponents a tough time on the counter, hopefully they can defend well as a group because that's probably gonna be the steepest challenge here.
  14. Sportsnet should be able to afford way better talent in the broadcasting booth than what they have right now. I don't have anything personal against them, but Singh and Campbell especially aren't suitable for national broadcasts. Campbell I feel is smart enough to provide useful insight but as you mentioned, she's an unabashed Flames homer. Singh seems like a nice guy but he can't even keep up with the play most of the time. That insane sequence yesterday where Demko made a scorpion pad save and Lindell hit the post was made 100% better by Shorthouse's commentary. Imagine Singh and Campbell calling that moment, probably would have killed the excitement of it entirely.
  15. There are lots of websites like this one that use FIFA's ranking algorithm to calculate live rankings: https://football-ranking.com/fifa_rankings?period=31 March 2022 Canada's loss yesterday put them down to 36th, so obviously not a great result. They'll need to take care of business against Jamaica since Panama will likely be desperate for a good result in the last qualifying match.
  16. If more than one coach can't get this team to start on time, it's not a coaching problem. The Canucks don't have the game-to-game consistency that great teams have. It's a group that has some talent on paper, but they can't figure it out how to bring their A-game night after night - how many times this season alone have they called their efforts unacceptable? They've had plenty of chances to learn that lesson by now. They need a culture reset. This sort of systemic waffling won't go away if they just tinker around the edges. I'm not saying trade everyone, but something about this team's composition needs to fundamentally change if they want to be more than just a fringe playoff team.
  17. Anyone tired of waiting for signing news should kill some time watching this: Only the first two parts have been released, but if you know anything about Dave Stieb and his no-hitter attempts, it's a gut-wrencher.
