  1. Darn tootin'. The Canucks were something like 0.750 with Salo in the lineup.
  2. Juolevi can play the game with a cigarette in his mouth

  3. Sure, there are still forwards and D on the board, but Juolevi was drafted for his high intelligence and unique skill set that no Canuck D player or prospect currently possesses. Serg and Chych don't have his smarts. They may turn out to be better players, but at this point who knows right? If you want Juolevi and then trade down just to be ok with the possibility of drafting a different player should Olli be off the board by then then you never really wanted him that badly. We'll see in 4-5 years how this pick looks, but right now it fills a hole we have had vacant for a long while around here. I certainly hope he pans out too.
  4. There is absolutely zero reason to trade down if you truly believe that he's your guy. Next thing that happens is the team in front of you snags him and you are left playing second fiddle. If JB really wanted him, I'm ok with the decision to not risk losing him via trading down.
  5. This guy will fit in quite nicely with the bruisers we have in place already. His smooth skating and crisp passes will be a good compliment toward balancing out what we already (hopefully) have in Hutton, Tryamkin, Tanev, and Gudbranson. Assuming, of course, that they're all still here when Juolevi makes the team. It's a safe pick, and I wanted a top defenceman in this draft so I got my wish.
  6. Edmonton Oilers free to pursue Milan Lucic as Los Angeles Kings end negotiations.

I tried and I tried, but I don't understand what either the serious, or the joke is.

  7. Just finished Boys in the Boat. I've never set foot (or arse) in any shell before, but the book was great. It's more than a book about sports, it's about a unique group of outliers who conquer despite all odds. It bounces around, rather abruptly at times, between events in the US and goings on in Germany, but it didn't detract too much from the boys' story. The world was yet to go to war with Germany, but here were a bunch of kids going on men with nothing to lose going to "battle" against themselves, their own countrymen, and the rest of the world in lakes all over it. If you're a fan of historical narratives, and want an easy, feel-good read, this book belongs at the top of your list.

I love beer, and have espresso every morning, but I re-evaluated why to both over the last half hour... over a beer.

  16. Sharks would have been fine if they scored on all their 3rd period shots

  17. It's a shame the audio isn't more bass forward in that track. Standup bass is badass.

If I had the time, I would try to turn every asset management thread into a sandwich management thread.

I'd be doing everyone a favour, really, instead of talking about 2nd round picks until we're blue in the face we could construct something tasty to stuff our face.  My hypothesis is that CHYCHRUN is just hungry, that's why he uses caps so much.

I would trade a 2nd round pick for some authentic giardiniera. Muffuletta.

  19. I'm not saying you're wrong, but compare his teams Finals performance to Lebron's for a moment. Aside from tonight, who has had the better supporting cast? Obviously, it's the Warriors. That would get almost any star a pass. If the Cavs come back and win the title I'd bet the media will be all over how Curry ran out of gas, or had an injury he couldn't overcome, or you name the excuse, but until that happens he was the easily the top reason the Warriors crushed the regular season, hence the MVP. Unanimous or not, other than semantics, what's the difference? I think your point about Horry went right over my head. Mr. Clutch versus Mr. Not So Much?
  20. Meh. MVP is for regular season. Rings are what really count.
  21. Marshawn Lynch: 'I'm not playing football anymore' http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000666972/article/marshawn-lynch-im-not-playing-football-anymore ------------------ Too bad he spent so much of last season injured. It sounds obvious, but that is likely playing a large part in his choice. As much as I love the guy, he wasn't himself when he was in the lineup last year. Thanks for giving up on him Buffalo, he sure fit in well here.
  22. Ain't over till the Sharks choke. Some teams look like they just don't want to win hockey games.

Curious what the TV numbers are for this final? Must be dismal in Canada.

The whole playoffs were dismal, I see no reason why this series would be any different.

The first three games of the championship series between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the San Jose Sharks averaged 1.86 million viewers for Hockey Night in Canada, with game three averaging 2.1 million, Rogers Media communications director Andrea Goldstein said in an email.
