  1. It's all good. It's funny, before Game 1 I was listening to Rich Eisen or someone, and they were all talking about how this should be a slam dunk for a brand new "3 pointers scored during the Finals" record. Take the over! Take the over! Hmm, not with Cleveland shooting bricks. Golden State definitely looks like champions, and Lebron looks ready for his new 2-5 record in the NBA Finals.
  2. Thanks for confirming I'm not blind, even if it's already been confirmed that I was wrong. These guys are monsters, that's for sure. I know it's not over yet, but I actually expected Cleveland to put up more of a fight.
  3. You know what? Fair enough. I stopped watching a few minutes after that play. It was pretty clear a repeat of game 1 (or worse) was in the making. Soccer dives are absolutely pathetic, and flopping to draw fouls looks about the same to me. It looks silly whether the ref falls for it and there's an advantage gained or not. If Love is hurt I'll eat my words with a side of crow on top of my own feet, but at the time I thought it looked like a sell.
  4. Once I saw it happen I rewound it and watched it again just to make sure I wasn't jumping to conclusions. Please, tell me what I missed? He obviously took the elbow to the back of the head. Just looked like he tried to sell it for a flagrant and no one bought it.
  5. NBA is the American version of European football. Kevin Love with the elbow to the back of the head (and I'm sure it did hurt a bit), flails to the floor, grabs the back of his head, then his face, then points to nothing. I don't know, seems pretty flaky, and I don't respect flaky.
  6. Oopsie doodles. I'll just delete that. Have a lovely Sunday evening everyone.

I don't know why people are using his birth name. Why refer to him but a name that he chose to put behind? Honour the man's wishes if you respect him.

  8. Fentanyl is a major problem in BC and beyond. Prince's overdose, while terrible, should bring high profile coverage to a ridiculous problem. Both Fentanyl and W-18 are insanely potent and have no business being used outside of the most dire needs regarding pain management.

Portugal is a good example. They decriminalized all drugs there and violent crime has gone down ten fold.

Portugal may is a good example because they are easy to glorify. They ramped up the amount of money spent on social programs that focused on drug awareness and addiction counselling and other things of that nature in addition to decriminalizing. In a sense, they enabled "responsible" addicts.

Portuguese cities have vans that drive around offering synthetic alternatives (I couldn't find if it was Fentanyl or not) to the drugs people became addicted to, and lineups can be long. Were they slaves to their monkey before or after decriminalization? Perhaps both.

With the Euro in constant jeopardy there is worry that the social programs thought to be effectively mitigating the dangers of widely available hard drugs would be cut. What would the results of that be?

We've seen similar cuts here in BC. Insite has been proven to be a success regarding lives saved, but more need to be done surrounding education of both youth and adults before legalization of any form can occur or we'll be in one hell of a $&!# storm.

  9. I'm glad to read that there are more than a few who agree with his value. Seriously, the guy is one good year (or break) away from being another Burrows type. If we hold on to Virtanen long enough to develop into a Hansen++ player I'd be absolutely thrilled.
  10. Shocking Blue wrote it, Nirvana 90's'ed it. Lou Bega's version is annoying, but he still freshens it up pretty good The Animals crushed this folk song, original author is debated, but written in 1905 or earlier:
  11. I'll be peeking at any stats you post, especially as the sample size grows. I tend to rely on the broadcast for the most pertinent stats, but obviously many many more go unnoticed as a result. This is certainly old news as it's been happening for a number of years now, but the amount of aggressive shifting of the field is borderline comical at times, but when it yields the out it just looks as routine as any play. Re: Colabello It definitely takes a confident batter to stand there unshook toward 2 strikes in an attempt to drive the pitch count up. I was under the impression he was in the lineup more for his defense anyways. I (foolishly) quit ball when I was 17, but took pride in forcing the pitcher to throw every extra pitch possible, and played on some teams where the whole lineup felt the same. It was nice to see the Jays doing that so well last year, and do it the odd time here and there again this year.

Did you get the one with the cat wearing the Brooklyn hat and the chain/bike lock around it's neck?

      That one is totally radical.

  13. Interesting. Do you have [sortable] Excel spreadsheets of this? When I hear "obsessed" about data Excel is the first thing that comes to mind. What about when you add EE to the mix? Somewhat tangential question about pitch counts: was Osuna given the day off today? He only pitched 1 inning (I think) yesterday and none the day before. Was surprised to see he didn't close today is all, and only the 1 appearance over 3 days. Probably nothing, just curious.
  14. Only saw the 1st 4 innings, but it was nice to see the Jays batters driving up the pitch count early on in the game. Obviously that was one of the things that made them successful last year.

    upcoming Bonino trade thread bump

  16. He had his tongue dragging on the ice at times, and looked like he was skating through mud by the end of his shifts. He looked like he wanted to die after being caught on the ice for an icing after needing a line change. I've been trying to find articles or sources that could confirm where he is or what he's been up to lately. Where he's training, for example.
  17. After seeing his play late last season, I'm already excited for what he could bring in a few years. His conditioning was definitely nowhere near what it needs to be to be an effective big minutes guy, and I do hope he comes into camp in better condition than last year, but it would be hard to do a complete flip to great shape in 4 months; any noticeable difference would be encouraging.
  18. This guy is worth more to Vancouver than the 2nd round pick he would likely yield in a trade. He can do it all reasonably well, and he has a sweet cap hit. I hope he stays on the team, and off the trading block, unless we get an offer way too good to be true.
  19. I wonder if the Twins get a line mate this year :o

Okposo could be the best since Burr.

I think we should play a 2-3 system. Have three d-men back and just have the Sedins cycle for the entire game, giving us an O.T. every game :P

IMO, Okposo would be the ideal  linemate for the Sedins.

Can you imagine if a team tried to do that for an entire season? 82 straight OT's. 60 minutes of pitiful pitiful hockey for 1 point.

      82 points.

Then say you win %40 of those in OT or shootout. 33 more points for 115.

Presidents Trophy candidate. Coach wins troll of the century.

      Swept in the 1st round.

  20. If he's healthy, but worried about breaking himself again, it would be sweet to have him come in and back Rawls up with limited carries instead of vice versa. What's the timeline for him needing to make his mind up with regards to the Seahawks managing the salary cap?
