  1. True that, it could be worse. I guess I would have preferred a game with more thrill potential. I've never been a fan of the Giants though, so there's that bias that led to the "boo". Maybe since I've said all this it will turn out to be the game of opening week! Yep, and like Heffy said, I don't mind reading about how other folk are assessing their team. If it goes overly rah-rah then I skip it. That goes in any thread for that matter. I mean I'm a football fan, but I'm nowhere near the crazed-stats-complete-with-every-team-roster-memorized-including-practice type of fan. I simply don't make the time. Let's categorize me as "casually avid". Therein lies my reason for speaking more generally about the NFL. Well that should kill the "Bills to Canada" bologna...for now.
  2. I don't really hate the Pats, it's more of a moderate distaste. They definitely have a vocal fan group within this thread, but that has nothing to do with it. This is an all encompassing NFL thread after all. 4 weeks to game 1. I can think of 2 nights and one day per week that will be booked up for a few months starting with that game. Boo to scheduling the Giants @ Lions as the early Monday night game in the double header. I'll watch it, but I don't have to like it.
  3. Yes it's the price you pay, literally, to enjoy whisk[e]y in Canada. There's really nothing I can do about it short of mastering distillation and practicing my patience.
  4. Awesome, nice collections, both of you. I was hoping a few would play along. King Heffy and Ralfy rocking some home blends? Interesting. I've never had Talisker 10, but with the peat and saltiness it's probably right up my alley. Sometimes it's just so hard not to pour a Laphroaig though when I'm looking at my shelf. Sigh, will the troubles never cease? Henrik is this the wheated mash or the rye mash version? From what I've seen online Mash #1 is the only numbered one.
  5. Since I haven't posted in this thread for awhile I thought that I would post my whisk(e)y collection, just for shoots and giggles: Ardbeg Ten Laphroaig 10 Lagavulin 16 * 2 Highland Park 12 Macallan Amber Aberlour A'Bunadh Glendronach 21 Nikka from the Barrel Writers Tears Bulleit Rye Bulleit Bourbon Woodford Reserve Four Roses Single Barrel Eagle Rare JD Bottles range from 1/5th full to unopened (such a shame). Hmmm, maybe I should scale back a little. Nah, maybe not.
  6. Elmer T. Lee is a great bottle. I'd like to get my hands on a few of the American priced bottles as that little devil is $90 up here. Besides Woodford 4 Wood (which technically isn't a bourbon with the different wood aging/blending) that is the most I have spent on a bottle of bourbon. I did not complain after tasting it though.
  7. Indeed, you are right. Re-stocked my Woodford Reserve and Writers Tears bottles today. I love a good hobby, and Writers Tears is a very good Irish Whiskey. It's so smooth. In fact, it's time for one right now...
  8. Usually I set my scotch aside for the most part of Summer, but recently, not so much. I've been sippin' on Laphroaig 10 and swimming all afternoon. Summer is great.
  9. Every time I think about this I end up baffled. 3 years to find Kesler 1-2 players to gel with, and nothing to show for it but blender lines. Good post yourself dude. For me, this is without a doubt going to be the most exciting offseason regarding the Canucks. I expect it to be way more entertaining than this past regular season was. I hope this so called "strong vision" can be implemented by our 2 new helmsman by the time the team hits the ice for preseason hockey.
  10. Yeah I agree %100. Wasn't that Edler too? I watched it on my phone and couldn't quite tell. Good video post Vintage, as usual.
  11. Bill Clinton also stated that he did not have sexual relations with that woman so I'm not sure who I believe The whole team must feel a little uneasy right now with a new helmsman. Seriously though, I do agree that Botchford is garbage. 33 days to the draft. It's better than Christmas.
  12. Haha! Yep, there is a certain connection between those two. I am no Houston fan, but Watt + Clowney = no joke.
  13. I bet people used to say the same thing about Russel Wilson. Reckless on the field, too small etc... Hopefully for Cleveland fans he can make some plays and give that team a winning season again. The Browns have been awful for, ugh, as long as my NFL memory goes back. Good coaching (does Cleveland have this?) and he could mature into a solid starting role.
  14. Yes I agree with you on the scheduling %100. Have to blame MSG as equally as the league for that though. They need to book events and fill the place. It's New York! The events schedule is crazy there.
  15. I disqualify both teams as this series sucks. Boston and Montreal are automatically promoted to a best of 14 series to represent the East in the Cup final.
  16. I see you have never watched hockey before, nor have you heard of Matt Cooke.
  17. Yeah I can't remember hearing his name in any negative light this season. Could be wrong though. He has had a few iffy incidents since claiming to turn over a new leaf in Pitts, but they are definitely way more infrequent. Unfortunately, this one is just bad. Ferraro said it best when looking at the slow motion replay when calling out Cooke for trying to cut and make the hit body to body, failing miserably, and leading hard with the knee. You just can't cut inside at that speed and still lead with the shoulder. Cooke should be done for the playoffs at minimum, some of next season too if the Wild do not make it out of the first round. Even if people want to give Cooke the benefit of the doubt on that play, his history is too rich with incident to warrant anything less than a punch on the wrist. edit: the Karlsson skate cut was the last "I'm not so sure what he was thinking play" that comes to mind, I think the last suspension was his hit from behind several years ago.
  18. That game was awesome. Great goaltending by Varlamov. The rest of the Avs barely even showed up today. Granlund nailed it with a beauty effort in OT. I would like to see the Avs move to the second round, but if Minny plays like this for the rest of the series there is no chance of that. Cooke. What the HELL? Brutal knee. Just brutal. He should be suspended for the duration. The refs called a pretty fair game overall, except for that really tough call on the [non] tip that should have been a penalty, but how that wasn't a major on Cooke I don't even know. Don't give me that "it's the playoffs" crap and say a major would be too much. Would have been just in my eyes. Great game by the rest of the Wild though for the most part, and a well deserved win for sure.
  19. Nazem Kadri sitting there looking stupid on the CBC panel.

It's painful watching him struggle to sit naturally.

He he looks like a deer in headlights whenever he starts talking.

  20. I love the powerplay cam too. Great perspective. This is a great hockey game.
