  1. I'm glad that most fans agree on one thing, which is a rarity at times, the supposed offer is a bag of potatoes no matter how you try to disect it. Matta+ is the new price for trying to plug trade for Kesler. No ticky? No laundry.
  2. I have faith that Gillis isn't that stupid, or gullible. If Sutter is the centerpiece, I pick a new team until he is fired. That is how much of a rip off that would be.
  3. Over the past year Tallon has been adamant that Bjugstad and Hubeardeu were the ubtouchables surrounding any possible Luongo trade. I would be surprised if that did not carry over for Kesler. As that team has struggled this year, he has recently commented that the play of his 2 rookie centers, Bjugstad and Barkov, has been a bright spot for the club. I don't see us being able to pry their highly coveted center or top defensive prospect away, even if it is for Kesler. He does want to ship some veterans out, but has not started a firesale. I don't want to post the whole article here but here's a recent one about Florida. Also, I feel that you are undervaluing Edler by a significant amount by only wanting Simmonds in return. He is a top 4 dman on almost any team and that type of player is rarely available these days. I've said before that I'd like Simmonds here too, but he alone isn't enough for the Canucks to relinquish Edler.
  4. I don't buy it either, it's just typical of how the media and sports world (fans) reacts around trades. Even if Aquilini told Gillis his job is secure, you have to believe that if he messes this up his ass would be out.
  5. I thought it was 18th... Disappointed you changed your avatar. Also, if Shero wants to be shrewd, F 'em. Maata or no Kesler. Beat it Pens.
  6. Give me a break on that last part, but the rest is true. Pitts needs to put more on the table.
  7. Nobody will be whining about Lu not starting anyways, there will be something else to whine about by then.
  8. Frankly I'm shocked. Weeks and months ago the only reasons I would have attributed to Luongo not getting the start would have been injury, or if he was on the trading block again. MG could silently be trying to move him again, but this would be way too obvious. Pretty weak actions towards him, he deserves to play tomorrow.
  9. Yes the PP has been atrocious. We could still be winning games though if our top line was playing like a top line. Off topic though, I'm not wanting to start calling the Sedins out because they aren't the only ones having an off year. It was just a comment in response to a "what if" that Darius71 posed. Fair enough, I skimmed a lot of the pages as this thread loaded up pretty quicky, I missed any of those posts discussing more than Edler and Kesler. To answer your question: yes. I think if we don't get the perfect price for Kesler he won't be moved at the deadline, and if he is moved regardless, bust. Cue hate on for Gillis losing a great player the franchise developed for less than market value. If any of the reports are true mind you, and 20 teams have been phoning MG, several of them with serious intent who are Cup contenders, then the price isn't something we should be worried too much about. Hopefully Gillis knows how to manage a potential bidding war without becoming flustered and hasty over the next few days.
  10. We likely both know that if the twins were in the top 15 in points this season we would have 10+ wins than we do now, and would be looking in on Wednesday as buyers instead of a core shift.
  11. Worst comparison ever. Kesler has a high trade value right now. Agreed? He is very valuable to the Canucks team, yet after 2 and a 1/2 lackluster season something has to give. We aren't trading the twins, because we can't. So that's that. Next up? Kesler. We need to keep our young prospects so we can develop and deploy these guys into our roster over the next few seasons. Kesler gets us retooling, not rebuilding. Trading one player for up and coming talent does not equal a fire sale. Don't be ridiculous.
  12. Triple finally obviously, one of the greatester albums:
  13. Double finally, one of the greatest punk albums whether you like it or not.
  14. Finally, some nice easy midnight listening:
  15. Back with a vengeance with some decade old Irish punk rock.
  16. I`m over her now. The power of single malt has shown me the way Word.
  17. Blues spam. Maybe you`ll see a GIF of me drinking whisky, nodding approvingly, and contemplating women that I`ve loved and lost. Likely not. Stupid keyboard. Here`s a question mark for you all to enjoy. É
  18. 10:30 mark for peeps who don't think blues musicians know how to slay!
  19. For anyone who has not seen him live, as usual, the live tracks do no justice. Twice now I've seen him play with just an acoustic guitar and his powerful voice. No mic. No plugged in. He's a blues beast, and Canadian to boot eh!
  20. Agreed, but it would help a team with a plethora of youngsters get immediate experience to pepper their lineup with.
  21. It isn't undervaluing if the 3 assets you get in return are dynamite. Remember legit hockey trades that used to happen? They happened for a reason. Who the hell wants to gamble on a first round pick if they can get something with more experience and more ready to deliver help to the current squad? The format you just listed doesn't guarantee the Canucks anything except several chances at winning the trade in the long run, when the goal is to remain or regain elite competitive status right now. edit: undervaluing is stupid though, I can't argue with that and I personally never suggested trading each just for the sake of doing so.
  22. As I said before, I love Kesler, on ice vision and passing were only fair qualities of his. Breakout speed and shots generated off of the rush dominated his Selke season no? Of course like any good player he will generate assists, ah god, now I'm just splitting hairs here. From the Philly standpoint I see them keeping Couturier over Schenn too for the reasons you listed. Who knows what Holmgren will ever do? Even Philly fans were WTF with Carter and Richards.
