  1. That is very fair, and I would be an idiot not to agree. The NFL draft can make teams contenders based on exactly those things.
  2. The reason why the NFL draft will ALWAYS be better than the NHL draft.
  3. Congratulations on the new job! Nice rep on the Rare Breed. Unfortunately we only get 81 as far as I know. I grabbed one of the last bottles of 101 in the province (BC) after it was discontinued. I'm really not sure why it was. I have not had Rare Breed, I'll add it to the endless list of things to acquire when I go to Oregon and Washington. I grabbed my first bottle of Bulleit Rye last week. I was not surprised to find it a very nice rye. Makes a great Old Fashioned, and now that the Cora Cora oranges are up from California, it is Old Fashioned season bigtime! I feel the people who peruse this thread already know of this drink, but for the ones who don't, this is how I make an Old Fashioned as follows: 1 sugar cube (I use demerara sugar) dash of Agnostura bitters (2 - 3 generous drops) 2 1/2 oz Bourbon or Rye twist of orange zest (careful not to leave too much pith on) Thoroughly muddle the sugar cube and bitters with just enough Bourbon to wet the cube. Add ice. I use the round Bulleit silicone forms that sometimes come promo on bottles, they offer a low dilution. Add Bourbon. Rub the twist on the rim of your glass and then drop it in. Swirl and drink! It really is a simple and refreshing drink. That tears it, I'm having one right after my beer...
  4. Did the Government forget what weekend they applied their new holiday to? It would seem they are a week early here. I like how the cold weather has seemed dry lately. I'll be adding the sand bags back into my truck this weekend.
  5. Most dominant Superbowl in recent memory! What a great day.

a thrilling win and a sound thrashing ..

  6. vv2 I know you're quote isn't directed at me, but The Russian Rocket said it best. It's partially the reason I dislike Brady, who is a deadly kickass QB. I hate him for playing for NE in the same state as the Bruins. Yeah, not even the same sport, but dislike by association. Should he get traded... well that's different. Heffy, I followed the Broncos as closely as the Seahawks this year. I find it absolutely remarkable that so many counted Manning out and he came in and destroyed on offense this past season. It was quite a beauty to watch. Nevertheless, even though I feel he deserves another championship, I sure as hell won't be cheering for that ring when he is lined up against the Hawks! I think Plum nailed it with the game assessment. Lynch will run the ball right down their throats, and hopefully open up a few big passing plays for Wilson as a result. If Wilson has an iffy passing game though not even great defense will guarantee a win over a potent offense like the Broncos. I'm really excited to see the Hawks defense go to work.
  7. Yeah really, I mean who honestly believes that Gillis phoned up Lebrun and said any of this. No-one that's who, it's all speculation and guesswork.
  8. Brady still got that Joe Cool like clutchness. Haters gonna hate. For the record, I like both quarterbacks [Manning and Brady] because they are both great. If I had to pick one for the playoffs, based on history, I pick Brady. All of my distaste for the Patriots stems from my dislike of everything Boston, save for Boston Sours, and New England Clam Chowder. Brady is a great quarterback. That is not even arguable. But that list is bullsht. No way in hell does anyone in the history of the NFL pick Aaron Freakin Rodgers over Peyton Manning, ever. Roethlisburger and Manning tie for second IF Manning wins Sunday. As much as I respect him for coming back from 4 neck surgeries and having a phenomenal year, I don't think he beats the Seahawks defense. At least. I don't want him to. Defense and Lynch = Superbowl. Looking forward to another Sherman interview.
  9. You are ignoring the best contract of all, maybe by accident. Brad Richards.
  10. In my professional internet opinion, it isn't that he can't, it's that he won't. A few years ago this team used to be incredible at self motivating. Daniel was a part of the process of finding ways to win games they had no business winning. A confident team does that.
  11. Fair enough. Seriously though, don't watch Hollywood movies to learn and educate yourself. Hollywood history has shown that facts are an oxymoron anyways... First example that comes to mind: Inferior Sake is served warm to hide imperfections; one of these 2 fools would know this. We could go on forever.
  12. 5 more sleeps to the NFL version of Christmas. I am beyond excited. It is bittersweet though, hockey just hasn't been as entertaining this year for me. I can honestly say that this season I have paid more attention to the NFL than the NHL. I never thought I would say that. You mean besides the one they won last year that sent them to the Superbowl?
  13. Exactly. I agree. Physical preparation was, and is, a definitive strength that these guys proved to possess year after year. Mental changes are trickier. I'm no sports psychologist, nor have I played an NHL game. People the world over can agree on this though, a lack of confidence can be very destructive. I believe he will regain some of his offensive prowess. The thing is, with a team that is focused on the mental side of the game (off the ice) like the Nucks are, someone has likely already noticed this well before any of us have, and the work has already begun.
  14. You are right. I just re read what I wrote and agree. They are 2/3rds of the line. Most of their career they have played together so they earned the 7 mil together. As they continue to age over the next few years I just don't see them being as dominant as they typically are without a legit 3/3rd. If we can homegrow it great! If not, and we can't acquire through trade I fear these guys won't be as effective as their previous dominant seasons. You know, I hope they prove me wrong because I have always been a fan of these guys, and was always glad that they weren't traded during their early years post draft. Not every star can make other players better for the entirety of their career though. 7 mil or not.
  15. Yep. But in 2011 2012 media and fans were all over his ass for sloppy uninspired play. Again, I know the example is crap. I just don't think we are witnessing the end of him here. Just a slide.
  16. I don't buy it. Not comparing directly to Ovi because ages are different (not to mention it Ovi - come on) , but everybody thought Alex was done a few years ago. Now look. Yeah, Daniel has hit a rough patch, might even be close to P12 rough, but I believe he can bounce back. Maybe he should talk to a sports therapist if it is a mental issue. Confidence is a killer if you don't have any. Mike Gillis, we love Burrows, but in order to keep the Sedins relevant as they age, you need to give them a TALENTED linemate to gel with. They can't do it all on their own anymore. And Christ, there's no shame in it.

  18. The Life Aquatic Seen this movie 5 times. Love it. *Language* One of the greatest Hollywood soundtracks to boot.
  19. Looks like Brady has a freakishly big arm in that sig.
  20. Well as long as the result doesn't matter, then: GO BRONCOS!
  21. No, didn't hear of it, but I think it's great. I mean what did you expect from one of the most popular leagues in the US with 2 Pacific teams part of the semi finals. Fans are trying to disrupt the power of the 12th man. Say what you will about ticket sales, I don't care, it will be hard for SF to play this road game tomorrow. Seriously though, I want the Hawks to win, but know SF will give them a serious run for the money. I have always liked each team, so since Denver is playing the Pats (the team responsible for getting me back into the NFL over a decade ago), I have a 4/4 chance of being happy in the Superbowl. This week felt like 14 days as I anticipated Sunday. Hannukah = NFL playoffs, so many weekend gifts.
