  1. I'm no Steelers fan, but wow does KC pull a move to hurt Pitts chances. San Diego should walk into a W pretty easily. On the same wavelength, I have never been a fan of benching starters in a game like this. Yeah you have injuries and rest to consider, but momentum from [potentially] a big loss could be tough to rebound from heading into the playoffs, even for pros. I actually want KC to win just to laugh at how the Steelers made the playoffs, even though San Diego followed a similarly improbable path themselves they still have to play to get in, Pitt already won their game, it would make me laugh to have them gifted a spot with their record. Like the Seahawks in 2010.
  2. So skip over that part. You'll live.
  3. Drew Breesed right by this when I read the page this morning, I remember watching that episode. Absolutely crazy. At the time of the draft I was 3 years old, so 30 for 30 caught me up on some pretty wild history. Marino falling so far for no reason, Elways pitiful excuses for not wanting to be a Colt definitely came off as wienery as one Eric Lindros once did, and Kelly with his 4 straight SuperBowl appearances with no victories, Karma for not wanting to be there? 30 for 30 rocks. I also loved the Pony Excess episode where NCAA SMU recieved the Death Penalty for major unsavouries, and the resulting guilt as the NCAA realized that they completely destroyed the SMU program as a result. On a hockey note, Big Shot featuring John Spano was hlarious, seriously. What a joke!
  4. Big-ass Sunday of football coming up now! Some or most of you have likely seen this or know of bits of it already, for those who haven't, some crazy scenarios from NFL.com showing how some teams can still make, or fall out of, the playoffs: We've broken down both the NFC and AFC playoff pictures. The NFL has provided all of the clinching scenarios this week, and we have the NFL standings memorized. Now let's shake up the whole picture again. This is my favorite time of year. There are so many permutations of how the next two weeks could go, but it never materializes how we expect it to. Thus far, only four teams have punched their ticket into the playoffs. Here are some of the craziest scenarios that could still happen over the next two weeks: AFC North's No. 2 or nothing scenario If Baltimore and Cincinnati both win Sunday, the AFC North title will be on the line during their Week 17 showdown. There's a real chance that the winner of Ravens-Bengals in Week 17 could be the No. 2 seed in the AFC, and the loser of the game would fall right out of the playoffs. There are a lot of X-factors in this scenario, but it would create perhaps the most important Week 17 game of all time. Not only would it be a play-in game, the winner would essentially win two games, skipping right past Wild Card Weekend. Imagine Bengals fans knowing they could host a divisional round game or be headed home for the offseason. Arizona wins out and it doesn't matter The Cardinals could win in Seattle, and then defeat San Francisco in Week 17 to get to 11-5. The Cardinals would be one of the hottest teams in the league, and it probably wouldn't matter. Here's how: The 49ers will clinch a playoff spot with a win over Atlanta Monday night, a likely result. The Cardinals would also lose any tiebreaker with New Orleans if the Saints finish at 11-5 and second place in the NFC South. In short: The Cardinals need to root for the Saints to win in Carolina on Sunday. Because the Cardinals hold the tiebreaker over the Panthers, Arizona has to hope Carolina doesn't win the NFC South. Speaking of which ... Arizona loses in Seattle, makes the playoffs anyhow This is probably the Cardinals' most realistic route to the playoffs. Arizona could lose in Seattle, but the Cardinals would still make the playoffs if they beat San Francisco in Week 17 and Carolina lost their final two games. The Panthers face the Saints this week and then head to Atlanta for the season finale. It would be a surprise if Carolina lost both of those games, but crazier things have happened. Such as ... Pittsburgh to the playoffs At 6-8, the Steelers haven't been eliminated yet. They need to win their final two games to have a chance, and then it gets really tricky. Baltimore and Miami would both have to lose their final two games, and San Diego would have to lose at least once. Pittsburgh also needs the New York Jets to win the last two weeks for a chance. (It's complicated to explain why, but essentially the Steelers need the Jets to knock out Miami with their division record if everyone was 8-8.) So, yes: The Browns-Jets game has playoff implications Sunday. Browns fans like Marc Sessler could watch their team eliminate the Steelers from contention. It's not a playoff win, but it's not bad. It would be fun if the Steelers just got to Week 17 with this scenario alive. Peyton Manning returns to Indianapolis in wild-card round The Denver Broncos are in good shape to win the AFC West, but it's not a sure bet yet. If the Broncos were upset in Houston this week, Kansas City could push Denver all the way down to the AFC's No. 5 seed if the Chiefs won out. As the No. 5 seed, the Broncos would head on the road in the wild-card round. Their most likely opponent there: the Colts. It would be too cruel for Manning to have another one-and-done playoff experience in Indianapolis. The Patriots don't make the playoffs There's been an assumption all season that New England would be a big part of the playoffs. They still are in good position to get a playoff bye, but nothing is guaranteed yet. New England could fall right out of the playoffs, with the Miami Dolphins winning the AFC East. The Patriots would need to lose at home against Buffalo in Week 17 for this to happen, which sounds rather unlikely. (Then again, they barely beat Houston and Cleveland.) Another Miami loss also would clinch the AFC East for the Patriots. Carolina could be the No. 1 seed or fall out of the playoffs The Panthers have to worry about the scenario mentioned above where Arizona finishes with 11 wins to knock out the Panthers. Then again, the winner of New Orleans-Carolina still has a chance to get home-field advantage for the playoffs. For that to happen, Seattle would need to lose their final two games. San Francisco would need to win their final two games, which would give the 49ers the NFC West. Carolina and New Orleans both beat San Franciso, so both teams would win any tiebreaker at 12-4
  5. 30/30 for me, it's a no hitter, natural hat trick, and a pick six all in one. Very supportive ownership who get their own hands dirty. If we need something to do the job better or faster we get it ASAP. Good company vision and a proven business model. Positive environment. High quality product that is enjoyable after work. Very fair pay and excellent benefits. I'm proud to wear the company logo because they make the staff feel like part of the family.
  6. Sounds like the batteries in the new controller are lame to begin with if 10 minutes drains the battery any significant amount. My PS3 controllers last for a good length of time before needing a charge. I wouldn't use any gaming system for Netflix though for 2 reasons: 1 - my laptop works great with an HDMI cable and I feel like that would extend the lifespan of my consoles by using them only for gaming and not movie marathons and such, and 2 - consoles don't understand the concept of Unblock, at least I think they don't These days I tend to spend more time reading tidbits about games than I spend actually playing them. That probably helped me put back the days novelty item for the impulsive purchaser.
  7. That's just rancid seal blubber. Try this beauty: Aisla T'Orten 105 Year Old 1906
  8. Yeah I mistyped. I meant most CAPITAL cities. The Society exists in 16 countries. Calgary I think is your closest bet, Kensington Market or something. Meetings are once a month. www.smws.ca
  9. Gotcha, I figured as much, just couldn't resist the urge to spew a factoid. JW Gold might just get JW Old. Hey-O! Alright, I'm done. I respect your willpower. I have 8 bottles in my collection. All open, but not all open recently. I make 'em last. I can't hold on to them uncorked for too long, they simply must be enjoyed. Maybe one day I will learn your ways. Until then, here come another Oban! I'll have to check out that club, sounds like a good thing for you. The Scotch Malt Whisky Society is badass. Memberships available in most major cities, and when you go travelling you can sit in on their local tastings. All they do is drink the rare Scotch that cannot be purchased by any other mean than through them, in Canada anyways. Some are hits, some are misses, all are Scotch. Eight 1/4 oz tastes a tasting, and more if you ask for a refill. Buy what you enjoy, or buy nothing. Either way, you win.
  10. Beat me to it by 7.3 seconds! I'm confused as to what you mean by the second bolded part, you do realize that Whisky does not perform like wine when cellared right? All of the maturation comes from casking. The natural oxidation and chemical reactions occurring as the whisky remains in contact with the wood is what smoothes out the booze and creates a finer product. That, and having a good product enter the barrels in the first place. Very little to nothing happens in a bottle. Is your club the Scotch Malt Whisky Society perhaps?
  11. Totally right. I wouldn't normally slip like that, thanks for pointing it out. A moderately delicious single malt on me for catching that! I'll amend here to "Texan whisky? I never even..." I know, I have heard it from a few friends, and 2 liquor store managers. Sorry guys, can't be bothered to post the whole article right now, but for those interested in what the deal is... clicky.
  12. Wait a minute, Texan Scotch? I never even... I need to hit the internet up on a research mission, with a dram of course.
  13. Love Laphroaig. Haven't had the other specific 2 brands of Macallan and Bruichladdich, I really want to try the Bruich at 22 years, seems like a gem. Macallan 12 is reportedly unavailable from the distillery anymore, so if anyone likes it, buy it if you see it before it is gone.
  14. I know exactly what you mean, Bourbon is very sweet, compared to my favourite Scotch whiskey. I simply found a way to enjoy the charred wood flavour, the caramel and spiciness, because I can justify spending money on 3 bottles of Bourbon easier than one bottle of my favourite Scotch. Price point forced me to appreciate and accept Bourbon into my life. I'm a Bourbon Again. I certainly still drink Scotch, just way less than I would like.
  15. ^^^ Haven't had that one yet. I didn't bother to re-read my posts in this thread to see if I am repeating, but I enjoyed a few ounces of Woodford Reserve 4 Wood. My god, the nose on that sucker was outstanding. Seriously, outstanding. It was so smooth to drink it almost felt like there was nothing there, but the smell, straight up orgasmic for Bourbon fans. Side note: as it is barrelled in 3 other kinds of wood other than charred American Oak barrels, it isn't Bourbon anymore, but nobody cares about that do they? Just opened another bottle of : It's a nice bourbon, very nice. At %50 ABV out of the bottle, it isn't for people who don't like stronger than usual booze [but none of them would be here]. I generally don't water it down to much more past the 5 drops I normally add to sipping whisky. The flavour changes way too much for me, and I feel like the bourbon is less flavourful as a result. Maybe I will try extra diluting again tonight, this is important research after all, just to see if I still feel the same way. Yeah, I like drinking. Two Bourbons I avoid at all costs, just out of personal lack of preference, are Jim Beam and Knob Creek. Why does Knob Creek have to taste like dates and raisins. It's like a damn Christmas cake. Just not for me. And Jim Beam, well, it's Jim Beam, nuff said. Cheers!
  16. I had never even heard of that game before, which isn't saying much, but I checked it out and it looks pretty solid for an RPG. I don't play a lot of RPG's, is the combat like Oblivion/Skyrim or Jade Empire, you know real time? That's the best in my opinion. I honestly can't think of a depth game that I have finished to %100. Sidescrollers don't count right? I mentioned this in the PS4 thread, I had a PS4 in my hand with Second Son and a few other games, then I put it back and grabbed iNFAMOUS2 and other old PS3 games I had never played. Hello saving ~$600! Also a brief hello to lesser graphics, but whatever...
  17. I had a PS4 in my hands yesterday with 3 games, I came so close to buying it. I was drooling over Madden 25, and Second Son. Then, out of the blue, I put the $615 back in my pocket and bought a few old PS3 games. I always have this idea that the first of the new gen consoles aren't worth the price when they first come out. Let the manufacturer fix some issues first, and let developers learn a little bit about how to utilize the full capability of the new machine. That's got to be a few years away minimum.
  18. Stepping back in time with iNFAMOUS 2, Resistance, and Demon's Souls.
  19. You're welcome. I don't think you would be the only one. Personally, I own a PS3 and a broken XBOX 360, and am undecided on the new systems so far. I like to think I would refrain from attempting something called "reset home console" on my [not yet] new $500 system. If it sounds too good to be true...
  20. Don't do it! A group of 4Chan users created an image that gives users fake instructions on how to unlock backwards compatibility on their Xbox One. When the complicated list of controller inputs has been completed, users are rewarded with a “bricked” useless console. The entire prank has been created to get people to render their Xbox One console’s useless unintentionally. The image was first posted on 4Chan and has since spread to neoGAF and a few other popular online gaming communities. Don’t follow these instructions unless you want a broken Xbox One. Every Xbox One can be transformed into a development kit unit through Microsoft’s ID@Xbox program and that’s where this hoax stems from. Unless you’re an actual Xbox One development partner and have official access to the console’s dev-kit functionality, it’s probably not a good idea to not mess around with the Xbox One’s operating system. Microsoft PR man, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, also tweeted confirmation that the instructions are fake and that the Xbox One isn’t backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games. 4Chan users also created the infamous iOS 7 makes your iPhone waterproof glitch. A backwards compatible Xbox One would be awesome because it would allow me to finally pack up my Xbox 360. Unless you’re looking to destroy your $500 Xbox One, don’t follow these instructions.
  21. WHO DAT? Domination, that's who. Beauty statement game.
  22. Monty ain't no troll buds. He is one of few who can have an actual hockey conversation on these boards. @Sting: Very unorthodox way of highlighting a 3-way trade. I figured out your trade movement, but I don't follow your cap numbers at all.
  23. Good view on it. This is obviously where the unrealistic expectations of fans come in to play regarding Kassian and his play here. Gillis said he was someone on their radar, well I wonder if he could have been had for less than what was paid at the time. I could care less about Hodson, but I agree the return should have been greater, and it could have waited until the offseason.
  24. Somebody =/= everybody else I wish he was shredding, but he needs to mature. Once he does that then we can see if his skills are high enough to carry him in this league.
  25. Semantics answer: No, it isn't too early to be disappointed in Kassian. It is too early to call him a bust though. As many have already mentioned here, at only 22 years old there is lots of room for growth. He is clearly immature as a player, and does not get what it takes to be in the league full time and produce results. I'd be pissed if the organization gives up on him and waives him, but at some point (like in 2 years if the same questions keep arising) you do cut him loose. He should train with the Sedins a few weeks this coming off season, in and around his own regimen. If he gets just a little determination in his game he can show some worth.
