Wait a minute, Texan Scotch? I never even... I need to hit the internet up on a research mission, with a dram of course.
-
Love Laphroaig. Haven't had the other specific 2 brands of Macallan and Bruichladdich, I really want to try the Bruich at 22 years, seems like a gem. Macallan 12 is reportedly unavailable from the distillery anymore, so if anyone likes it, buy it if you see it before it is gone.

I know exactly what you mean, Bourbon is very sweet, compared to my favourite Scotch whiskey. I simply found a way to enjoy the charred wood flavour, the caramel and spiciness, because I can justify spending money on 3 bottles of Bourbon easier than one bottle of my favourite Scotch. Price point forced me to appreciate and accept Bourbon into my life. I'm a Bourbon Again. I certainly still drink Scotch, just way less than I would like.

^^^ Haven't had that one yet. I didn't bother to re-read my posts in this thread to see if I am repeating, but I enjoyed a few ounces of Woodford Reserve 4 Wood. My god, the nose on that sucker was outstanding. Seriously, outstanding. It was so smooth to drink it almost felt like there was nothing there, but the smell, straight up orgasmic for Bourbon fans. Side note: as it is barrelled in 3 other kinds of wood other than charred American Oak barrels, it isn't Bourbon anymore, but nobody cares about that do they? Just opened another bottle of : It's a nice bourbon, very nice. At %50 ABV out of the bottle, it isn't for people who don't like stronger than usual booze [but none of them would be here]. I generally don't water it down to much more past the 5 drops I normally add to sipping whisky. The flavour changes way too much for me, and I feel like the bourbon is less flavourful as a result. Maybe I will try extra diluting again tonight, this is important research after all, just to see if I still feel the same way. Yeah, I like drinking. Two Bourbons I avoid at all costs, just out of personal lack of preference, are Jim Beam and Knob Creek. Why does Knob Creek have to taste like dates and raisins. It's like a damn Christmas cake. Just not for me. And Jim Beam, well, it's Jim Beam, nuff said. Cheers!

I had never even heard of that game before, which isn't saying much, but I checked it out and it looks pretty solid for an RPG. I don't play a lot of RPG's, is the combat like Oblivion/Skyrim or Jade Empire, you know real time? That's the best in my opinion. I honestly can't think of a depth game that I have finished to %100. Sidescrollers don't count right? I mentioned this in the PS4 thread, I had a PS4 in my hand with Second Son and a few other games, then I put it back and grabbed iNFAMOUS2 and other old PS3 games I had never played. Hello saving ~$600! Also a brief hello to lesser graphics, but whatever...
-
I had a PS4 in my hands yesterday with 3 games, I came so close to buying it. I was drooling over Madden 25, and Second Son. Then, out of the blue, I put the $615 back in my pocket and bought a few old PS3 games. I always have this idea that the first of the new gen consoles aren't worth the price when they first come out. Let the manufacturer fix some issues first, and let developers learn a little bit about how to utilize the full capability of the new machine. That's got to be a few years away minimum.

Stepping back in time with iNFAMOUS 2, Resistance, and Demon's Souls.

You're welcome. I don't think you would be the only one. Personally, I own a PS3 and a broken XBOX 360, and am undecided on the new systems so far. I like to think I would refrain from attempting something called "reset home console" on my [not yet] new $500 system. If it sounds too good to be true...

Don't do it! A group of 4Chan users created an image that gives users fake instructions on how to unlock backwards compatibility on their Xbox One. When the complicated list of controller inputs has been completed, users are rewarded with a “bricked” useless console. The entire prank has been created to get people to render their Xbox One console’s useless unintentionally. The image was first posted on 4Chan and has since spread to neoGAF and a few other popular online gaming communities. Don’t follow these instructions unless you want a broken Xbox One. Every Xbox One can be transformed into a development kit unit through Microsoft’s ID@Xbox program and that’s where this hoax stems from. Unless you’re an actual Xbox One development partner and have official access to the console’s dev-kit functionality, it’s probably not a good idea to not mess around with the Xbox One’s operating system. Microsoft PR man, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, also tweeted confirmation that the instructions are fake and that the Xbox One isn’t backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games. 4Chan users also created the infamous iOS 7 makes your iPhone waterproof glitch. A backwards compatible Xbox One would be awesome because it would allow me to finally pack up my Xbox 360. Unless you’re looking to destroy your $500 Xbox One, don’t follow these instructions.

Too Early to call Kassian a dissapointment?
Green Building replied to Go Go Canucks Go's topic in Canucks Talk
Good view on it. This is obviously where the unrealistic expectations of fans come in to play regarding Kassian and his play here. Gillis said he was someone on their radar, well I wonder if he could have been had for less than what was paid at the time. I could care less about Hodson, but I agree the return should have been greater, and it could have waited until the offseason. -

Somebody =/= everybody else I wish he was shredding, but he needs to mature. Once he does that then we can see if his skills are high enough to carry him in this league. -

Semantics answer: No, it isn't too early to be disappointed in Kassian. It is too early to call him a bust though. As many have already mentioned here, at only 22 years old there is lots of room for growth. He is clearly immature as a player, and does not get what it takes to be in the league full time and produce results. I'd be pissed if the organization gives up on him and waives him, but at some point (like in 2 years if the same questions keep arising) you do cut him loose. He should train with the Sedins a few weeks this coming off season, in and around his own regimen. If he gets just a little determination in his game he can show some worth. -
[PGT] Bieksa wins by domination!
Green Building replied to TheRussianRocket.'s topic in Canucks Talk
Nice to see some emotion of of Bieksa, but not much of a victory in the fight. Angry draw at best. Bonus points to drop kicking the helmet. I would have laughed had it scored more airtime and a direct hit on a Ranger. -
In Bruges, fell asleep. Meh/10 pretty boring really. Cabin in the Woods. Interesting. Everything we already know about horror movies, with a slight twist. 7.5/10

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are excellent. Especially The Dark Knight. For some unknown reason I can't get into The Dark Knight Rises, I have started the movie twice and have yet to finish it. It seems fake and boring. And yes, I know that Batman isn't real... About to watch In Bruges based on recommendations.

I notice a few shout outs to TV shows lately, so I will mention that American Horror Story has been pretty interesting through the first half season. I have heard that the 2nd season is dynamite.

Event Horizon 8.75/10 I haven't seen that movie since it first came out and I was seventeen. *cue Homer Simpson cutscenes I forgot how good it really was. A beauty horror flick.

History Channel is great at this time of year. I can't wait to watch Dieppe Uncovered tomorrow.
-
The Great Escape 8.5/10 It's the time of year for war movies, especially WW2. , even if the facts are all wrong, leave it to Hollywood to forget that the major players in the real life version were Canadians. http://tedbarris.com/2013/08/31/the-great-escape-a-canadian-story/ Yeah, I put a book in a movie thread. You don't have to read it, just watch it.

^Those commercials are pretty good. Blended whisky (like William Lawson's) has never been my thing. It always seemed to be lacking something. 210 Carrall Street, if you haven't found it already... http://www.shebeen.ca/ Everyone gather 'round with a dram and enjoy these videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6ga6_17skk

I'd like to give that Bulleit rye a go. See if I can find it somewhere. I'm sure that as much as I love Boston Sours, switching out the bourbon (which is Bulleit when I make 'em) for rye won't be a failure. Yeah I think my initial opinion was a little overboard. I will rescind down to acceptable if wanting whiskey, which isn't bad. Veneto has some good whiskey to choose from as well. Lots of bourbons, and a few good scotches.

The Shebeen is great, for those that live on the mainland . In Victoria we have a few decent places to score single malt. Selection wise most people find it surprising to find out that the Canoe Club has an amazing scotch list. Brewpub with a scotch list. Beauty. Some of their finer stuff has been sitting for a bit, not that there is anything very wrong with that, but it does continue to oxidize and change the flavours after opening. The longest I ever held on to a bottle was over a year, after opening. Bowmore 18. What did I notice about the changes in palate after nearly 400 days? Inconclusive. I had better try again.
