  1. I like looking at whiskey bottles, especially when I'm enjoying some. Today I am in bourbon mode. I prefer scotch mode, but the price point on bourbon is friendlier. I agree with you King Heffy, I prefer single malt for sipping, bourbon is a touch too sweet some of the time for me. I have learned to appreciate it though. I mentioned these little devils in the BEER thread as my scotch faves: Lagavulin 16 Oban 14 Highland Park 18 (12 is good too, but if I get to choose ) Laphroaig if I'm feeling smoky and phenolic I don't have my story all straight so I'll keep the details brief but Japanese scotch has come around very well on the world stage. We have some very nice stuff available in BC. Apparently, many many years ago some Japanese distillers traveled to a famous distillery to work and learn about how to make whiskey. When they returned home they began their patient process and the results have been excellent. Taketsuru and Yamazaki come to mind. I'm sure there are others.
  2. Tough loss for the TB, beauty comeback by the Seahawks! Didn't look good in the 4th after the endzone turnover but Lynch takes over for the OT win. Bloody happy not to be a Buccaneer fan.
  3. "You found me beautiful once" "B...h, you got reeeal ugly" Great movie. Cemetery Man 7/10 Italian zombie movie, the only way to make sure the dead don't rise is to kill the living. Totally worth a look to anyone who like horror movies. Martin Scorsese called it "the best Italian movie of the 90's". I guess not many movies came out in Italy that decade.
  4. There Will be Blood 6/10 Nice cinematics, but the story was way too boring for me. I can like slow movies too, I just re watched The Andromeda Strain: 7.9/10 Hey guys, this topic is G14 classified. Rush Hour had some funny moments for sure, but didn't really set any new comedy standards for me.
  5. Killer Clowns from Outer Space 6.5/10 This movie is so bad it's great. Enourmous clowns on a killer rampage save some of their cotton candy wrapped victims for food.
  6. Game underway after lightening delay. I didn't miss anything except the pre game pump up! Come on NFL... entertain me!
  7. I mentioned something to that effect in the Gillis Hot Seat thread, but didn't feel like derailing this one in that direction. Gillis has a lot to answer for the current state of this franchise. KB should keep his mouth shut whether he thinks he is right or not. He is just a chess piece on this team. Let Gillis hire the coach and if Bieksa doesn't like it he can waive his no trade clause.
  8. Come on deb, I hate to inform you, but I don't remember celebrating a Stanley Cup win recently. I wish I had. The last 2 years are evidence of a moderately successful formula. What good is a Presidents trophy without accompanying it with the Big Tamale? It was time for a change. And I am a Bieksa fan, I just don't like his comments here.
  9. As a fan, I view KB's comments as whining. Maybe not in tone, but in content. The basic purpose of an NHL team is to win the Stanley Cup. Obviously it is not an attainable goal for each team, each year. However, with a team of skilled players like the Canucks have it has become obvious that a wall has been reached as far as successes under the current system. Had a Cup been won against Boston we would not be having this discussion, but that is a moot point as there was no Cup victory. The fact that he feels emboldened or entitled enough to comment upon who will lead the team from behind the bench IS part of the problem. Not necessarily Bieksa as a player, but his attitude. The team may need an overhaul of the dressing room culture. I stress may because I am not in the room. I am unaware of the dynamics behind closed doors. What it appears to be is something overridden with comfort. The last time we, as fans, saw the hold ourselves accountable approach work was after the players only meeting that saw Burrows snap a horrific losing streak. That is the last public memory I have of it. We are only able to speculate on the overall effectiveness of AVs approach to coaching this team, myself included. What we are presented with is the last 2 playoff exits being difficult to watch as barely any hockey was played by our team. Outcoached? Outperformed? Something else? Either way you look at it, the playoffs were unsuccessful. That much can be agreed upon. It is important to note that the specific question asked of Bieksa was whether a crack the whip coach was needed or not. If someone asked me if I would like my employers to become way more hardass than they currently are, I would definitely say no. That is obviously what many employees would say of their employers. The thing is, I don't view hockey players as employees as others might. The are highly paid professionals competing in the best league in the world. Occasionally there will be some cracking of the whip required. I am in no way a military person, but I look at a hockey club as a form of military brigade, and in no way should a team ever be leading his commanding officer. AV's laid back approach has not worked flawlessly. Gillis could have fired himself, but really, who would do that? He has convinced ownership that he has a plan and has been given a chance to enact it. I rather like what Gillis has done to improve this franchise off the ice. His on ice provisions are not up for debate in this thread, but I hope the new coach can adjust the mentality and performance of the current group. The players can, and should, continue holding themselves accountable. My wish is that the new coach holds them accountable first.
  10. God of War 3 My B-pile has some good games in it unfortunately, let alone some crap ones. Resident Evil 6 looks awful, a shame for the franchise. I still remember playing RE1 with 2 friends all weekend when it first came out.
  11. I took the liberty of throwing my PS3 out the window. At least, as Gumball pointed out earlier, I paid a 3rd (or more) less the cost for my console as you likely did for your gaming console. If the next gen of cosoles fails to impress me with quality or pricing I'll have to learn more about computers though. Excuse me while I duct tape some fragments back together.
  12. I don't emotipaste much, but I almost spat my beer out reading that last one, so thank you for that.
  13. I am just wondering why you don't buy used games. Is it to support developers? Or just the enjoyment of having new stuff? I agree about the bringing the game over to a pals place and not being able to play, that is just... I am swearing at the lameness, let's say that. I hate EB too, but since the game copying and console modding era, they had to change their business model, probably not for themselves, but for the developers who were losing money on one of the original reasons I used to love EB, say, 15 years ago. Back when you could buy a game, go home and play it for a couple days, then take it back for whatever reason and swap it for another one. That was awesome. Then along came modding and that was the end of that. So on that note I can understand why the industry would shift away from used games to regain/retain some profits, however, I won't be the one held ransom over it. I like to buy old, used, kickass games sometimes. If I can't, then out of personal principle I would invest in a gaming computer the same amount of money, and continue to play used games. Unless, of course, computer games go to new only... Kinda drunk right now, hope this wasn't an unintelligible anger tangent.
  14. Yeah, you are right, I phrased that poorly. I wasn't sure if companies recieved sponsorship from anyone, something along that sort. Nevertheless, the rest is true, die hard people will still line up to buy new and be a part of the "it just came out and is so awesome can you believe it?" crowd. Obviously that number is dwindling, or so they would have us believe in this case. Profit is the ONLY reason for a move of this magnitude. What are you talking about? Used games or new used games. Because I just spent less than 100 bucks combined on Red Dead, Skyrim, inFAMOUS, and God of War 3. You aren't seriously trying to tell me that those games would cost $140 totalled new? I know you are more saavy than that. By the way, what the hell is a microtransaction? Something people do when they want to play a great game that was released years ago but somehow missed out on? I don't know, just speculating...
  15. Awful if true. Unimaginably horrific penny pinching bullsh1t. Honestly, I will never own one. Chalk up another reason for PC gaming. I can understand that new games garner the greatest profit for companies who spend years developing games, yet there will always be folks who line up to buy brand new games. I will not be one of them I can promise that. Used games are great affordable fun. Unless you own a PS4/XBOX whatever...
  16. @ Jai604 Dude that looks awesome. Pretty sure I'm screwed on PS3, I had a brief look around a while ago for PS3 mods, but figured I would have to mod my whole console to do anything at all. Why do I like console gaming? It is so limiting.
  17. Definitely noted. Also casually playing the beta for Eve 513, it could be a real good online shooter once they clean it up. The cost of stuff in the shop is annoying though, people who might want to play for free will constantly get destroyed by others who throw money at the game. Besides that, it is quite fun.
  18. No, but maybe here? http://www.rcrncommunity.com/support/faq
  19. inFAMOUS almost God of War 3 inFamous has gameplay similar to Drakes Decpetion, but with more original Prince of Persia added. Really like the way they laid out attacking with spells so far. Seamless asskicking. But I'm guessing most of you knew that already since the game is so old.
  20. I want to know what the markup is on a console game. We all know they are roughly $59.99 when new, what is the purchase cost for stores like Best Buy or EB Games? I could guess, but my guess would be worth exactly squat.
  21. ? San Fran interests me, what with Kaepernick and his talent, and crap goatee, I look forward to the 49ers beating whoever wins this game. Go Baltimore, sick of the Patriots.
  22. I've been looking at those games for awhile now; they look like they offer great gameplay. Especially the new one with online capability.
  23. Chipping away at Drake's Deception, it's a fine game. Blasting my way through Red Dead Redemption, this game is great. It almost makes me want to play GTA 5 when it comes out. I think I need to play the Mass Effect trilogy.
