if the Flames get in over Vancouver I'd be surprised they are a complete mess especially after last year but who knows new coaching just may be what they needed.
-
interesting list some names I'd like to see in a Canucks sweater could round out the bottom lines of this team
-
They signing this guy to help protect Bedard. Makes sense to me I hope Bedard comes to Vancouver in 10 years or so when he becomes a UFA cause F*** Chicago.
-
I like the pick Tom Willander

yeah if he comes at a reasonable contract sure

sure Dana White is right about the NHL but where his problem lies is not paying his fighters anything the UFC takes home like 90% of the profit share. These guys should be set for life after they retire or leave the UFC.

Not surprising for 7.2mil he was not living up to his contract with his performance it will suck the 2 years of the over 4 mil in dead cap. Outside of those years it isn't too bad. Really goes to show just how bad Benning's moves were, he dumped 3 players that were all on expiring deals only to get back another player with even longer term. I don't have much expectation that the Canucks are going to make it far in the playoffs if they manage to even get there next year. Until this team finally fully embraces a full rebuild I am not holding out hope for them.
-
Benning was a disaster for this team and it came at free agency time. At the time they looked like good deals but seeing how it has all played out now Vancouver is in such a bad place now at the cap. If Vancouver could offload OEL somewhere I'd be happy or actually rebuild this team and realize that retooling hasn't worked these past 8 years or so.

Sure if he signs for cheap but no way that happens so yeah would have to pass on that if I were the GM.

So how do you avoid bloated contracts at free agency? How do you improve the team without free agency? Let me guess, build through the draft, correct?
What in your opinion is a bloated contract?
So you would not pay 5-6m per for Gavrikov? Or 3-4m for Barbashev? Or 5m for Graves?
Jim Rutherford said it best the Canucks are no where near competing for a Stanley Cup so they should be no where near the cap. What I am really saying is Vancouver will have the extra 4 mil that gives them the ability to get out of those contracts without giving away assets, picks etc. I say let those contracts run there course. Which means they can't really sign too many players in free agency if at all until those contracts are gone.

Like the other bloated contracts hes signed? Sorry cant recall which ones, some help please?
They are trying to compete now pretty evident they are bound to sign a player in free agency. Another bloated contract among the other bloated contracts on the roster.

the extra 4 mil gives the Canucks time for some of the bad contracts to expire. Unfortunately I am pretty sure Allvin will spend that extra 4 mil on another bloated contract.

Isn't it Good? Matthew Wood.
Bob Mac's list shows #14 so I'm ok with it.
One worry supposedly is his skating.
Horvat's skating was an issue I imagine the Canucks can fix that issue for Matt Wood as well

It would be much easier to trade off every other asset Canucks have now to try to trade for Chicago's 1st overall pick which could possibly land them enough assets with Hughes, Demko, Petterson, +++++ as much as I would want to have Bedard play for Vancouver it would be easier to sign him to a deal when he becomes a UFA. Honestly I think Chicago is worse off now then they were last year because they have no team to put around Bedard.

Here's another plan: We wait 10 years for Bedard to reach UFA status, and then signs with us a la Tavares.
This seems like the most likely option. Though Petterson, Hughes will be in their 30s by this time ><

Being that I was born in Winnipeg but grew up in Vancouver so I cheer on the Jets and as I am living in AB I kinda root for the Oilers as well.

Weegar was great. Kadri is really bad and Huberdeau is what the fk are we doing here
He wasn't enough for them to get back into the playoffs

Brad tried to make the best of a bad situation in Calgary and it just did not work out whatsoever after Gaudreau and Tkachuk wanted out. Gambled with Huberdeau, Weegar and Kadri unfortunately did not work out for them. I think if they don't bounce back next year they will probably go back into rebuild. there is nothing I like more then watching the Flames fail.

The results speak louder then words really here, the team has been much better without Bo then with him so to me it seems at face value that O'Brien's comments are bang on. Bo talked bad about the fans, and so I have to agree with O'Brien on this. My reaction to Bo's comments were that I am so glad they traded him.
