Green I had a friend of mine eat pickled ginger. Said it cleaned out his sinuses. I've learned to just have sugar from what's natural food, milk. Whatever sweetener they use in Purdy's No sugar added Hedgehogs and stuff, is just incredible. 2 grams of sugar per hedgehog. I can wipe out 3 of them, and there's less sugar than a granola bar.

Ginger is good. You know what cleans sinuses even better? Fresh hot chili peppers. Every cold I buy some hot peppers and nibble away, or make a spicy tea with them, ginger, and citrus, and unrefined sugars, like honey.

Like you (I think) I'm not anti sugar. I just stick to natural or unrefined sugar.

As for the fermented foods, the most important thing to remember (if you buy them) is to make sure they aren't pasteurized. That kills all the happy little lactobaccilus and so on that your intestines need to work well.

Lacto makes yogurt and kimchi tangy, and makes beer sour. It eats up sugars and produces lactic acid, and small amounts of alcohol and CO2 over long periods of time. That's why good unpasteurized kimchi fizzles slightly on your tongue. It's literally fermented.

Tastes bloody good on a roasted pork belly with sticky rice too.

All this health stuff aside (like pork belly), I honestly feel better when I eat all this stuff on a weekly basis. The amount of intoxicants I ingest I could at least do myself that favour.
