  1. Hughes isn't the same without Tanev. When they were paired together Hughes could go for a skate in deep knowing Tan man would hold the fort on the blue line. Without him Hughes has to remain much more responsible defensively which effectively eliminates the offensive aspect of his game that makes him so dangerous.
  2. At 2-2 I was thinking my gawd we could actually win this thing. Then it became 3-2 and the wheels absolutely fell off.
  3. Could it be because they're exhausted by playing chip and chase hockey? Play smarter not harder doesnt seem to be a part of Greener's playbook.
  4. I like it. I'm thinking LE- Petterson - Boeser as the top line and also get him on PP1 AND 2. Montreal will be shaking in their boots!
  5. Its been 4 years of waiting for this garbage system to 'play out'. It has proven ineffective. Time to try something new. In your humble opinion how many more years (decades?) should we 'relax' and 'let it play out'? Until Petterson asks for a trade because he's tired of playing on a losing team? Green gave it a go, he had ample time to show his system works. Its been proven that it doesn't, and now its time to move on. Continuing this malarkey isn't just a disservice to the fans, its a disservice to the players who are busting their butts night after night without seeing any results. In the beginning a lot of fans were willing to give Green the benefit of the doubt. We had a young group, we were still missing a few key peices, but as time wore on it became more and more apparent that regardless of who we added or subtracted the fundamental problems were still all there. Fundamental problems that Green seems to have no answer or for, or even any desire to address. Just keep doing the same thing and eventually it will work, seems to be his mantra.
  6. 12 to 11? No way, man. Thats way too unrealistic. Its going to be 15-9. Petey gets the hat trick, lol.
  7. The entire coaching staff needs to go. Our strategy is way too static. On D we collapse in front of the net and let the opponent pepper the tendie. On O the forwards play too high making entering the zone with possession and speed nearly impossible. On the PP we stand in the same spots and try the same plays over and over. We're really easy to defeat. If the opponent pressures the puck at all times we lose. Simple as that. The majority of our wins come against teams who also play a sit back D style which gives our ultra talented players time and space. Take away that time and space, we lose. All the teams in our division have the book on us now and Green et all have shown no signs or even hints of changing anything up. If you want to see this team succeed we need a new coaching staff. Green and company wont be the guys who get it done.
  8. Sadly, I'm hoping the boys have a mediocre shortened season, miss the playoffs, and management parts ways with Green in the off-season. I'm growing tired of watching the same brand of chip and chase hockey with this roster filled with elite offensive talent. Our guys deserve better and Greener has proven that he's a one trick pony. His style may work in the AHL but it has not been working at this level and he seems unable to make any adjustments. He took a shot but its time we move on.
  9. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and predict Petterson finds his groove and scores a hatty tonight!
  10. This is a forum based on equality. Purples don't get special privileges just because of their colour. :-)
  11. Petterson. Do we need him? Totally kidding y'all. He'll find his groove eventually. Going through adversity early in his career will be good for him in the long run.
  12. Not him, but juggling lines seems to be Greener's only tactic to change things up. I'm with him though, I'm getting very tired of watching our 'sit back' D system and no puck support on the break out. Its been the same plan night after night since Petterson's rookie year and it isn't working. Not only that, but watching the team chip it in and chip it out for 60 minutes isn't entertaining hockey to watch. This team has a ton of talent, what they need is a coaching staff that can figure out how to utilize it.
  13. They've been playing the exact same way since Petterson's rookie year. Every team in the league knows how to beat them. Greener and staff seem unable to come up with anything else. How many stretch passes did they attempt tonight? 50? How many worked? 0? It might be time to start leaving the zone with puck support because sending the forwards up to the opposing blue line when your D man gets the puck just isn't working. It's been 4 years and it still isnt working. Time to try something new.
  14. Did you hear Nate Schmidt's comments after last game against EDM? That allowing 42 shots is unacceptable? I was like, 'Welcome to Vancouver, bud'. This is the style we play. Sit back and let Markstrom steal us some games....oh wait....
  15. So are they playing all the games in Edmonton again? Or will they be playing at their respective arenas?
  16. Facts. The Messier era was the only time in the last 27 years that I didn't follow the team.
  17. I'm thinking Petterson- Erickson- Boeser as the top line and Benning may as well give him the C while he is at it.
  18. I think you hit the nail on the head here. My take is that throughout his life Jake has always had a natural advantage given his size and strength. He didn't have to work that hard to outshine the competition in the lower leagues. Now in the NHL he is amongst the best in the world where his natural talent isnt enough alone and he lacks the inner drive to take his game to the next level because he's never been in this situation before. I was hoping he would mature and see the error of his ways but so far it isnt happening. Perhaps it is time to let him go.
  19. That was the Stars best chance of the 1st OT and he didn't even register a shot. Huge missed opportunity there.
  20. Is it just me or does Perry have the look of a crack head? Not saying he is one, just that his facial features resemble those of the typical crack or meth addict.
  21. Oh, I wasn't aware of that. Wheres that 40 year old Beer Leauge emergency goalie who beat the Leafs? Dallas should have called him up.
