  1. While I see your point, whose to say this team will still be together in 2 years in this cap era? The time to shine is now. Seize the opportunity because it may never come again.
  2. Lots of grade A chances in the first but Lehner robbed 'em. Vegas looked like the better team in the 2nd and 3rd. What's up with Boeser lately, is he injured?
  3. Lol, the guy has 8 good playoff games and suddenly he's the greatest of all time? Dont get me wrong, I like Horvat and he was my choice for captain but your declaration that he is now the best of all time is a bit premature. See how he does for another decade before making that assessment.
  4. Honestly I was glad to see the game plan tonight was exit the zone with puck support and try to gain entry with possession, aka avoid the chip and chase. After game 1 it was obvious to anyone that the same old strategy we've been using for the past 3 seasons wasnt going to work on VGK. Finally they changed it up!
  5. Say what? I saw zero Grade A chances and maybe like 3 Grade B chances. The rest of the game was the Canucks shooting weak wristers from the blue line and peeling off for a change.
  6. Defense is too passive, don't forget about that. They collapse down low and allow the opposition all the time and space in the world to set up the perfect play. It's no secret around the league that the Canucks are weak defensively in their own end. Once they do gain possession they usually give it right back on the dump and chase as this isn't a team comprised of many players who can win puck battles on the forecheck. They have their best success on transition plays/fast breaks when they actually gain entry into the zone with possession. Of course that doesn't happen very often due to the forwards playing so high they're often standing still when they get the stretch pass at the opponents blue line and so are quickly knocked off the puck or forced to dump and chase.
  7. Oh, it wasnt any different on SN. It was a 60 minute circle jerk over Reaves there too.
  8. The system that we play isn't going to work against VGK. It never has. What did the announcer say? The Canucks have never beat VGK in regulation. Ever. We've been playing the same system under Green and it has never been successful against VGK. Not once. Now's the time to find out what Greener is made of. Does he change it up or does he stick to the same old same old and expect different results?
  9. Personally I'd slot Macewan in over Guad. Nothing against AG, I just think we need the big bodies to match VGKs physicality as its going to be another hard fought series.
  10. No, I dont recall that. I'm relatively new to hockey. Only been following since 94.
  11. So if Torts and all the other coaches jumped off a bridge would you want TG to jump off the bridge also? Honestly, my comment wasnt meant to bash TG it was more of an observation. When the score was out of reach last night and QH and EP kept jumping over the boards I cringed every time QH got plastered into the boards or EP took a vicious crosscheck to the kidneys. Not a time to be risking an injury imho oc.
  12. Its definitely a concern. TG loves to overplay his top guys. I was watching carefully in the 3rd period against STL hoping he'd sit Petterson and Hughes but it didn't happen. Those 2 have been logging a ton of ice time. Yes, they're young, but playoffs are a long grind. A war of attrition. We all remember what happened to EP40 about 2/3rds of the way through his rookie season. He burned out due to playing too hard night after night. Hopefully he has learned to pace himself as this is going to be a grueling series against another hard hitting (and dirty) team.
  13. Agreed. Collapsing down low into a 4 man box and letting STL play shooting gallery for two minutes straight is going to backfire more often than not.
  14. I noticed a he did a lot of floating last game. He wasnt aggressive on the puck and there was one time where his line mate won a puck battle near the blue line to keep it in the zone and rather than driving to the net Jake headed to the bench! Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hater but c'mon! The kid needs to step it up. Imagine if JV had the tenacity of Motte. With his size and speed he'd be unstoppable.
  15. STL will be throwing everything they have at our boys tonight as it's do or die for them. They lose this one and the series is essentially over. Our boys just have to rise to the occasion and match their intensity from puck drop just like they did in Game 1. If they can do that they will win.
  16. What about something completely unorthodox? Play Demko in the 1st period of both games and let Marky finish them. It could work.
  17. I beg to differ. Social media has a huge impact on how organizations operate these days. Hell, half the "news" articles nowadays are made up of snippets from Twitter. If you dont think PR people from the Canucks organization read these forums to gain a sense of the overall fan sentiment than you're fooling yourself bud. Ba-dum-ching! You're on a roll, Roger. Killin it today!
  18. Rather than spending so much time brow beating the refs perhaps the CDC should focus on the reason the game went into OT in the first place. After Pettersons goal early in the 3rd the Nucks changed their strategy to dumping it out to try and kill the remaining 15 minutes. It has been proven time and time again that this doesn't work. They just give the opposition chance after chance to regroup and force Marky to stand on his head to hold them in it. Who makes that call? Answer, it isn't the refs.
