[PGT] Colorado Avalanche at Vancouver Canucks | Nov. 16, 2019

The rule already does include referee discretion so there is no rule change required. The refs just didn't realize it was that serious. Petey did and he should have signaled the ref to blow it down. I'm the biggest homer there is but that play should have been whistled down right away. -

They might be able to deal him by trade deadline to a playoff bound team looking to fill some holes in the lineup due to injury. I'm sure Loui would waive his NTC if JB asked him to. He is probably no longer happy playing here anyway. I'd be content with a 4th round pick coming back just to be done with him and his contract. -

Hughes picks up two assists, Makar gets three. Nice battle of the rookie D-Men. -
With Beagle out Horvat has to play the role of shut down center. Notice he's on the 4th line tonight and has been on the PK last couple of games. I just hope this means that he'll play less than 25 minutes tonight but I have my doubts. He's still on the PP and Greener will probably double shift him elsewhere.

In this age of climate hysteria I think they're looking for less travel in general. Your suggestion just leads to more travel for everyone. I'd rather see longer home stands and regional road trips. Like for example, you would have a southeast road trip where the Canucks would fly to the southeast US and play all the regional teams in one go. Florida, Tampa, Carolina, maybe hit Dallas and LVGK on the way back. Then a northeast road trip. Play NYR, NYI, NJD, BUF, BOS, WSH, TO, MTL, OTT, PIT, PHL, etc all in one trip. Basically, when the team leaves for a road trip they'll be gone for 1-3 weeks which will give them a chance to acclimate to the time zone, and better yet, they only have to take a few cross country flights every season. It would be a win/win for everybody.

As one of the people who was surprised to see him sent down and rooting for him to get called back up, I too have been unimpressed with his game. He's too soft on the puck and gets pushed off way too easily. I have a feeling we won't see Baertchi in a Canucks sweater again after this season and I'm okay with that.

Well if they win tonight I expect them to go on to win the President's trophy and sweep the playoffs 16-0. If they lose tonight than they should tank from here on out in the hopes of getting a high draft pick. /s Realistically I'd like to see them make the playoffs this year. If they get past the first round that would be awesome!

Time for creativity - Move Miller to Center

Erikson-Petterson-Schaller I haven't seen this combo yet so TG still has a few more to try out. I bet Loui might even get a point if he plays with Petey. -
Why?

We've had some good coaches; Patt Quinn Marc Crawford AV Travis Green isn't one of them. Coaching in the NHL isn't like coaching in the minors. Every teams players are the best of the best. There isn't much separating them talent wise. They're all amazingly skilled at hockey. If they weren't they wouldn't be in the NHL. The difference between a winning team and a losing team over the course of the season is a coaches ability to recognize his teams and his opponents teams strengths and weaknesses and exploit them. Based on TG's own comments and the predictable playing style of the Canucks I am fairly certain this concept is lost on TG. He wants his players to do the same thing over and over again and expects different results.

The timing of the line changes is also atrocious. I've never seen a team voluntarily give up puck possession so many times a game, night in and night out. Well coached teams might do it 2-3 times a game, we seem to do it 20-30. Hard to win a hockey game that way. -

Bull$h1t comment by Green. I thought Stech and Virt were the best Canucks on the ice tonight. Not because they both scored goals but because they drove the play and created chances. I sometimes wonder what game Green was watching because based on his post game interviews he sounds detached from reality. He also said the power play looked good tonight, like it does every night. Lol! -
The only real question left to answer is who is going to score his hat trick goal first tonight? Pettersson or Horvat?

While I agree that all of Bennings first round picks have been fire (jury is still out on OJ as he is yet to play in the NHL) many of our second and third round picks have never played at the NHL level and probably never will. Meanwhile a guy like Adam Guadette (a 5th round pick) is in the lineup. That's what I mean by it being a crapshoot. Some draft picks elevate their game and move on to achieve great things whilst others fade away or never take their game to another level. That's life, stuff happens, there are no guarantees. Proclaiming we were somehow selling ourselves short by giving up 2nd and a 7th round pick in exchange for players who are proven NHLers and are ready to play now is misguided IMHO because we just don't know if that 2nd and 7th round guy will ever see any ice time in the NHL. As for the 1st we gave up for Miller I think it has worked out very well so far. Here is a complete list of all of Bennings draft picks; https://canucksarmy.com/2018/07/02/five-years-in-jim-bennings-first-five-drafts-for-the-vancouver-canucks/
