[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at St. Louis Blues | Oct. 17, 2019

The main bright spot on this game is the play of Demko. I think he's going to be a solid back up for us this year.- 521 replies

It would have been 10-1 if we had little things Louie in the line up. -

UNDEFEATED AT HOME! -
Tanev/ Hughes is such a good pairing. A stay at home defensemen and an offensive defenseman.

Never change, Edler. Never change.

I believe these were the line combos against Philly on Saturday (minus Motte and plus Guadette). Here is what I noticed; Leivo was atrocious and doesn't belong on the 2nd line. Miller and Ferland were both invisible. I say leave Miller with Horvat and Pearson because they all have proven chemistry and move Guadette to the top line with EP40 and Boes. Let Guadette go in and fight for pucks in the corner instead of Pettersson doing the dirty work.

Lievo should not be playing with Horvat. Baertchi should be on that line. Look at Leivo's history. Despite making his NHL debut in 2013 he only has 130 games in the NHL and 49 of those were last season with the Canucks. During his time in Toronto he was either buried in the AHL or a healthy scratch most of the time. His 10 goals last season are a career high as is the 49 NHL games in a season. He is out of his league and it was frustratingly apparent tonight when he had 4 or 5 prime scoring chances yet couldn't manage a shot on net. Baertchi otoh has consistently put up 15+ goals while playing an average of about 60 games per season. He has a ton of offensive potential and would be a really good fit with Horvat and Pearson. Baer makes $3.6m versus Lievos $1.075 but if you're only able to bury $1m of cap hit in the minors then whether you send down Baer or Lievo it makes no difference in that department. Unless they're playing him so they can shop him around and if that's the case I don't think they'll get much in return for a guy who wasn't good enough to make the regular lineup for the LEAFS in 5 seasons.

I think the game in Calgary was worse. D core is solid. Adding Meyers, Benn, and Hughes is a major upgrade. Markstrom picked up right where he left off last year. No rust what so ever. EP40 and Boeser both seem to be missing the net a lot. Maybe it has more to do with them being focused on by the D and pressured than any skill or confidence issues.

When the other team starts pouring it on and dominating the play like Philly did in the 3rd is when the coach needs to make some adjustments to counter their offensive. I don't think Green is capable of doing that. He's only got one method that he's going to keep using game in and game out, winning or losing.

Will Trevor Linden be a part of the celebration next season?
CptCanuck16 replied to CRAZY_4_NAZZY's topic in Canucks Talk
The thing that set Linden apart wasn't his overall scoring prowess but his ability to rise to the occasion and score big goals when the team needed it most. Scoring GTGs, OTGs, and being an absolute beast in the playoffs is what made him a fan favourite. -

Horvat didn't score yesterday, he set up Lievo for the goal. -
[Trade] Alex Biega to the Red Wings for David Pope
CptCanuck16 replied to HerrDrFunk's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Some dude that was drafted in 2013 and has like 3 career points in the AHL. I don't think we'll be seeing him in the lineup any time soon. -
That's exactly it! Last year everyone was saying we just didn't have enough talent in the line up. Now we have a much better line up and we're playing exactly the same. So if isn't the players then who is it? It's the coaching staff.

Post game interview with Green: https://www.nhl.com/canucks/video/postgame--green-at-flames/c-69405203 "We played a solid 1st and 3rd", "It was a good effort". No mention of going 0 for 7 on the PP. No mention of barely being able to make a pass or win a puck battle. This is why Green has got to go. He thinks the team is playing good hockey. If there is no push for improvement you're going to get another 80 games of this garbage all the while listening to Green say how he is pleased with the performance. They're playing exactly how Green wants them to play! Guess what? It isn't working!

At this point, I'm just hopeful we can get our first PPG before the Christmas break!
