  1. Seeing as how his contract is up after this season I am also predicting big things from Jake this year. Don't trade him now when he is on the cusp! Also, $1.125m for a 15 goal scorer is an absolute bargain. I could see them wanting to trade him if he was making $3+, but at his current rate he is a steal. Throwing him away for a 2nd rounder is the dumbest suggestion I've ever heard and so of course I am not surprised to hear it from the Vancouver media.
  2. He's going to have a break out year. Score 50 goals, get named the 'C', and single handedly carry the team all the way to the SCF. you must be dreaming. .....wait, wake up Louie,
  3. Does that mean it's too early to start the 'Fire Travis Green' threads????
  4. Its only the preseason. Remember Petterson didn't look like anything special in last years preseason either.
  5. And IF he has peaked and will never be more than a 20 goal scorer and starts declining in 3 years then you end up with a guy taking up cap space for the next 7 or 8 years who isn't worth his salary and everyone wants to deal but can't because there are no takers. I'm not saying this is going to happen to BB, I'm merely suggesting it's best to play it safe because you never know what might happen. Look at Virtanen, so much potential yet he hasn't developed much yet. That can happen with any player.
  6. I just don't understand the logic here. If he works out well for the team then re-sign him again in 4 years. If for whatever reason he doesn't then at least you aren't stuck with him. Nothing against BB I'm just saying this is how the team should play it with all player contracts.
  7. Not trying to compare the two as players, my point was that when you have a player with a very long contract and something goes south, that long term contract makes it very difficult to trade them.
  8. No! No more long term deals! Every time we've done that it's come back to bite us. Think Luongo or Erickson. 4 years is plenty long enough. A lot can happen in 4 years!
  9. According to the article I read Brock's asking for 4 years at $7m. JB is offering 4 at $6m citing Timo's contract as the market setter. Seeing as how they're not so far apart I'm predicting a deal at $6.5 in the not so distant future. I think they'll put Rousell on LTIR and trade Sutter to clear up cap space.
  10. Nice to see so much support for Louie Erikson! People are finally starting to realize he's the greatest player in franchise history! I hope they resign him for another 4 years after his current contract expires! Of course it should come with a big raise!
  11. 4 years is a long time isn't it? Especially for a young player like BB. I would be worried if he was only looking for a one year deal because that would most likely mean he isn't happy playing here. I assume BB's strategy is to prove himself as a top 6 forward in the next 4 years and then ask for a pay raise. What he doesn't want to do is lock himself in at $6-7m for 8 years because he might be selling himself short.
  12. Agreed. Expecting more than $6-6.5m when you are a 20 goal scorer with only two years experience under your belt is laughable. Let Brock shop around, he won't find any other teams willing to pay him $9-10m and the Canucks shouldn't either.
  13. That's exactly what I am thinking. Offer him a 2 year bridge deal at $6 to $6.5 and then reevaluate. He only has 140 games under his belt and is therefore not a proven talent yet.
  14. I'm guessing 10m+. Look at his stats. The guy is a superstar. The Nucks have the cap space, I'd love to see him signed to a 4 year deal.
  15. BJ's came out flat again, just like Game 1 vs Tampa. Hopefully they can turn this one around. Get some zone time and some momentum.
  16. It's looking more and more likely that the BJ's are going to the finals. Who's it going to be in the west? COL? STL?
  17. I don't think they called a penalty just for the hell of it, but rather a major instead of a 2 or 4 min possibly for those reasons.
  18. Oh come on. Who could have known they'd score 4 straight in 4 minutes. That has literally NEVER happened in the history of the NHL. What the refs were thinking after the Pavelski injury probably was "the games out of reach, we don't want this to get ugly. Give him a major and a game to make SJ focus on playing rather than gooning it up".
  19. WSH looks like they're playing a mid season afternoon game, not Game 7 OT. Get it together boys! You won't win by dumping the puck in and out all period long.
  20. Refs deciding games again. Same thing as the Jets game. The goaltender literally was having his glove held on to on the 2-1 goal and the refs didn't even talk it over, just called it a good goal. I've never been a fan of ref conspiracies but it's getting ridiculous lately.
  21. Eriksson for who? I'd be satisfied with a with a bag of pucks at this point, honestly.
