Guillaume Brisebois | D
stonecoldstevebernier replied to Patrick Jane's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Charlottetown takes the 2-0 series lead with a 9-2 blowout where they piled 59 shots on goal. No points for Brisebois yet in the series, which doesn't look like it'll last much longer. The game got pretty chippy too, with Baie-Comeau down to ten players at one point after a ton of misconducts in the third:- 1,427 replies

Chicoutimi takes a 2-0 series lead with a 2-1 win today. Zhukenov grabs an assist on the winning goal with 1:31 to go in the third period, 1-2-3 in two games now. Game 3 goes Tuesday in Victoriaville.

Adam Cracknell with the hat trick for Dallas tonight.... what a moment for a great guy. Safe to say the Cracknell has been released.

Chicoutimi hangs on for the 4-3 win in Game 1 vs Victoriaville - one goal, one assist for Zhukenov in the victory.

Gatineau loses Game 1 to Cape Breton, 1-0 in OT. Four shots, three hits for MacEwan and 6/8 on faceoffs.

What a laser by Juolevi to open the scoring vs Windsor. Nice move to gain the blueline too.
-
That looked like it might have been offside... I was just thinking that when they came in the zone initially.
-
The 46 shots by UND sounds about right... most were from the outside though.
-
What a great game and an impressive comeback by UND. Even if they keep playing and we don't get Boeser for a while longer I don't mind that at all, this is a fun team to watch and you can tell Boeser's got something special. Also, Oettinger is a fantastic prospect. Whoever drafts him this year is going to get one hell of a goalie.

It feels strange to say this, but I actually kind of like Biega at forward. The guy just looks like he's just itching to hit anybody he can. I don't want him playing over Labate but he's not half-bad there, and you can tell he's the kind of player who'll do anything he can to be in the lineup.

Carcone and Pelletier have started to foster some nice chemistry. Rendulic's usually the third member of that line (he missed today's game) and has been hot lately too. Carcone's skill level has been apparent all season and he's not afraid to throw the body despite his size, but he's been focusing more on the skill aspect of his game recently and has shown signs of understanding the pro game a bit better. I'd expect him to continue to take steps forward next year and perhaps in year three of his ELC we'll have a player there. Time will tell.

No points for Brisebois in his last game of the year, he finishes with 10-37-47 in 61 games on the year and a +35 rating. Charlottetown finishes as the 4th seed and will play Baie-Comeau in the first round.- 1,427 replies

Gatineau finishes as the #10 seed and will play #7 Cape Breton in the first round.

One goal for Zhukenov in the final game of the year to finish with 18-47-65 in 64 games, and a 54.2% faceoff percentage. Chicoutimi will host Victoriaville in the first round.

2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017
stonecoldstevebernier replied to hyper00's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Yamamoto with a hat trick today including two goals in the final 1:02 to force overtime... its too bad we couldn't nab another first rounder somewhere in the 20s because he's quickly become one of my favourite players in the draft. I really think he's gonna be one of those small guys like Gaudreau or Johnson who puts up points anywhere he goes despite his size. Maybe he slips to our early second rounder (or San Jose's first ) if enough teams have hesitations over his size, but I doubt it. As for our first, I'm liking what I hear about Pettersson more and more. Barring a miracle where we get Patrick/Hischier, I think Pettersson and Bo could form a great 1-2 combo given a few years' time. -
Two goals and one assist for MacEwan who was named first star in his game vs Drummondville today. 31-43-74 in 65 games on the season with just one more to go tomorrow.

Dahlen getting sent to the Swedish U20 league looks like what would happen if the Oilers released McDavid for the WJC last year...

Signing Stewart was such a bad idea and they should absolutely explore that option. I also wonder if maybe the Canucks would consider terminating Anton Cederholm's deal, if they don't plan on bringing him back to play in Utica next season. I'm pretty sure Cederholm would agree to it if it becomes clear he won't get the opportunity to advance here, similar to Tommernes and Polasek from a couple years back. Personally, I'd like to see what he can do at the AHL level though.
-
Yeah, that is starting to look more likely. Stukel and Abols don't need to be signed until next year for the Canucks to retain their rights; Stukel can go back for an overage year and Abols could sign an AHL only deal or play in the KHL for a season. I believe we hold Jasek's rights for longer too, since he was drafted from Europe. And of course its no guarantee that we sign all those players anyway... the addition of Chatfield makes me wonder if management doesn't plan on signing a guy like Neill because it seems unwise to have that many contract spots taken up by fringe d-man prospects. Utica next year could have: McEneny, Pedan, Subban, Sautner, Cederholm, Brisebois, Chatfield, Olson, Neill, plus a couple of Robak/Billins/Shields types to provide a stable veteran presence. If Olson and Neill are signed its inevitable that a couple will end up in the ECHL, so how many contracts does management want to dole out to guys who will be in the ECHL? There will be a few spending time there from the forwards as well. I also think its a real possibility that management could let go of either Pedan or Grenier. Neither seems to really figure into the team's plans going forward. However, the team will need to sign some AHL vets to support Utica's young guys next season anyway so their spots will need to be factored in regardless. Playing a bunch of kids down there with no veteran support is a recipe for failure, so it does look like next year's contract puzzle could be a tough one to put together.
-
He can't go back to Windsor because he'll be 21 by the time next season starts, so it looks like he'll be in a fight to make Utica in the fall.
-
The 47 is already not including Brisebois and Juolevi though. We have 31 "on the roster" (including injured players) and 18 off the roster for this season which would make 49, but those two are subtracted.
-
Chatfield's ELC doesn't start until next season (same with MacEwan's), so we're at 47/50 right now. Plenty of room if Boeser wants to burn a year this season and to add another NCAA player like Aston-Reese if he wants to do the same.
-
The Canucks newest signing from today, an overage defenseman out of Windsor. His offensive numbers aren't dazzling for his age but by all reports he sounds like a mobile player who can move the puck well and you'd have to think there's a lot to his game we don't know about if the Canucks were willing to offer him an ELC. Plus, Windsor hosts the Memorial Cup this season so he'll gain some valuable experience there and we'll all get a chance to see him play which is nice. There should be a lot of competition for spots on defense in Utica next season, as Chatfield will be up against guys like Brisebois, Neill, and Olson who could all potentially turn pro. Even if he has to spend time in the ECHL to start, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Lots of guys who have succeeded on the Comets the past few years spent time in the ECHL... Grenier, Valk, Archibald, McEneny, Pedan. Laplante went down (or up?) to Alaska and has been on fire lately. Its not the worst place to start out, especially as an overager who is used to playing against smaller, less experienced players.
