  1. One assist for Brisebois in his return to the Charlottetown lineup tonight. More impressively, they lost 8-2 and Brisebois wasn't on the ice for any of the eight goals against. 3-14-17 in 26 games for him on the year.
  2. A goal and an assist for Zhukenov today to snap a three-game pointless streak. 11-17-28 in 29 games on the season for him now.
  3. From earlier today; no points in 11 games so far for Laplante. Better to get regular minutes in the ECHL than sit in the press box in Utica.
  4. Jasek has been named to the Czech Republic's WJC camp roster; there are only 12 forwards on the roster, so its very likely that he's on the actual team, barring a couple of late additions.
  5. Gotta love the spin that TSN's already trying to put on the Larsen hit...

Man with all those skates kicking him in the head, I was scared a blade wouldn't come down on face/neck. The NHL needs some sort of rule that if a player appears injured and down the other players on the ice should immediately move away from the vicinity. Have your scrums away from the guy that's hurt.

@chon derry....but thats something we have a hard time doing with this group of forwards...our only pushback/hitting comes from the back end...really not acceptable in this league.

@ShakyWalton theres no positional limitation set against defense from hitting hard ,cleanly ,but your right about our fwd's being way to soft, words out   jb has to bring in some muscle up front, its pretty clear

  6. One goal for Zhukenov today, earning him second star honours. Also won 6 of 11 draws. Now 10-14-24 in 23 games on the year.
  7. It is an improvement, on his draft size of 175 lbs. I don't know about the start of the year though.
  8. I think Gaunce is seeing the effects of not having linemates that WD feels comfortable throwing out there. He trusts him playing 10 minutes a night if its with Dorsett and Skille, but not with Labate and Skille. Which is a shame, because Gaunce has the potential to be a dependable bottom six utility player but he won't get there playing 4 minutes a night. He's not even getting PK shifts anymore which is disappointing.
  9. A goal and an assist for Zhukenov today along with going 6 of 9 on faceoffs. 9-13-22 in 19 games this year.
  10. Two goals and an assist for Zhukenov today vs Sherbrooke, now 8-12-20 in 18 games this year. Also won 7/9 faceoffs - he's at 59.7% on the year there.
  11. One assist, +3, and second star honours for Brisebois tonight... 3-9-12 in 20 games so far now.
  12. Just noticed that Demko has an article posted about him on the front of the IIHF website.
  13. Another two points for Gaudette tonight, a goal and an assist. 7-10-17 in 13 games now.
  14. Gaudette adds two assists tonight to bring him up to 6-9-15 in 12 games. A slick pass from behind the net for his second assist of the game:
  15. Two goals and an assist including the OT winner for Kailer Yamamoto tonight. Puts him two back of the WHL lead in both points and goals... the way our season's going though, we'll likely be picking a bit higher than where he'll end up being ranked (due to his size).
  16. He's at 59.4% this year compared to 51.4% last season; which should bode well for his chances of playing centre at a higher level. He's 10th overall among guys who've taken 100+ draws in the Q so far.
  17. Two assists for Zhukenov and 13/15 on faceoffs tonight... up to 6-9-15 in fourteen games now.
  18. I do agree that Virtanen should get some time in Utica - it just makes sense for a 20 year old who hasn't been able to get his footing in the NHL yet. He hasn't been bad but he hasn't wowed anyone to the point where its impossible to deny him a spot. That said, I don't like how Virtanen constantly gets the short end of the stick while Skille, Burrows, and even Eriksson get a free pass. I'm sure you can't question their off ice work ethic since they're all seasoned veterans but in terms of on-ice ability, I trust Virtanen to help us win way more than Skille or Burrows. (I have faith Eriksson will get it together)
  19. Zhukenov scores his second OT winner of the year today, and adds an assist as well. 6-7-13 in 13 games.
  20. Its days like these that I'm thankful Stock, Healy, and Cox don't have jobs with Sportsnet anymore.

Geez, can you imagine Healy on a night like tonight? We be howling angry in here for sure.

No kidding, intermissions are so much more bearable now.

Now if we could only get rid of Craig Simpson, Greg Millen and Dave Randorf, my perfect circle of happiness would be complete. Paul Romanuik, too, if he's still dipping and diving around.

  21. Gaudette continued his goal streak and added an assist today vs BU. 6-6-12 in eight games now.
  22. Two assists for Juolevi today in a 6-4 win over Sudbury. Now with 1-7-8 in 11 games on the season.
  23. He only needs 19 games to qualify though, since you need either 40 this year or 70 combined between last year and this one. You could still sit Larsen for Stecher. I'm just thinking that considering how our offense has completely dried up that you want to give ice time to the players who will give you a better chance to score. I agree he'll be back though, its annoying how the expansion draft affects what management can do.
  24. The thing that bugs me the most about Stecher's reassignment the more I think about it is this: management often talks about trying to balance two different goals - to develop young players and to win. Stecher does both of these. He's easily our fifth best defenseman (since Edler, Tanev, Hutton, and Gudbranson are lineup locks) if not higher than that. Based on merit he should be on our team, and I think Willie and JB both know that since he was called up and plugged in right away over Tryamkin and Biega. Do they really think Sbisa or Larsen are better options to play defense for us? If neither Sbisa or Larsen figure into the team's long term plans (and they shouldn't) then there's no point in playing them every game, unless having them in the lineup gives you the best chance of winning every night (and it doesn't). Its the same thing with how they played Bartkowski in 80 games last year even though Benning knew he wasn't going to re-sign him, and they weren't making the playoffs. The AHL time won't hurt Stecher at all because its still valuable playing time. But Willie was willing to give him 22 minutes a night in the NHL right out of the gate, so if he's earned that already based on his play then I think that says a lot about who gives you the best chance to win each night. Especially with such a condensed schedule, it makes even more sense to sit Sbisa and Larsen, occasionally at the very least.
