Juolevi with the powerplay goal to make it 3-2!! Nice wrister from the left circle, 7 minutes to go.
-
10:26 left in the third, we have a tie game, 2-2. The Spitfires just keep pouring it on... first Bracco shoots one over top of a sprawling Crawley, and now Luchuk strikes on the powerplay. They've got the Knights on their heels right now.

Knights are up 2-0 after two despite Windsor playing the better second period. Kuokkanen hammered a one timer home on the PP and Max Jones got the other goal going hard to the net and crashing into DiPietro afterwards, leaving both of them shaken up. The Knights have done a good job of going to the tough areas around the net and making life difficult for him, and Parsons has been stellar at the other end so far. There were a couple of hiccups for Juolevi that period as the Spitfires had a much better frame and put more offensive pressure on; he took a holding penalty after Vilardi tried to squeeze by him on the boards, pivoting off of him and using his arm to hold him up.

I'm dreading the day he makes the NHL and our cringeworthy twitter account uses a headline like "Pu Flushes Canucks" after he scores on us.
-
End of the first, still no score. Knights with the best chances of the period - Pu hitting the bar, Salituro with a shot that snuck through DiPietro but just barely stayed out because of his trailing pad, and Juolevi made a nice stretch pass to Miletic who was able to cut in around the outside and take it to the net. Also, Victor Mete has some amazing wheels, he can really fly through the neutral zone.
-
All Knights early... Windsor just had a PP but couldn't really get anything going, Pu with the best chance hitting a crossbar shorthanded. Juolevi had two smart clears on the PK, he looks very composed in his own zone.

Oh man, you probably are honestly. I don't know how many times I've read his name printed here and there and never noticed... maybe to me, subconsciously it just seems like it should be spelled MacEwan. Like the Berenstain (Berenstein) bears conspiracy theory. Fixed.

I'm holding out hope that Saniel will grace us with his presence again once he reaches 1000 points.

In Grenier's defense, an overage player developing into a consistent top six guy on your AHL team who can fill in as a call-up from time to time isn't a bad thing. There's always the Dane Fox route as an alternative. Nothing's really a fair expectation of MacEwan this early on though so I'm holding off on the hype too.

That tweet actually made me a little mad because Wilkes-Barre scored right after he posted that. Superstitions aside, Demko was fantastic today again after another three-game weekend and has rebounded well after getting pulled on Friday. He's gonna have to tough it out for another week before Bachman gets back, although by that time the season will pretty much be at an end and the Comets should have a clearer idea of whether they're in the playoffs or not... it'll be interesting to see whether Green goes with Demko or Bachman. I think Demko has earned it based on the run he's had here (he's the main reason they're even still in the race) but Bachman has shown in Utica and in Vancouver that he's no slouch either. I have a feeling Demko will be the guy though, with Bachman ready to step in when needed.

If anyone's interested in seeing a couple of different angles for Jake's two goals from yesterday, the Comets have a highlight video up now. Goals are at the 1:46 and 2:52 marks.

Game 7 goes Tuesday at 4:00 pst. 2-1-3 for Juolevi in six games so far including his assist today.
-
Two goals for Jake, midway through the third period now... he's having himself a game out there. Nice finish on a 2-on-1 with Valk:
-
Virtanen's goal from just a few minutes ago - takes a nice feed from McEneny breaking into the zone and rips a wrister from the left side past Johansson.
-
Something I wondered during the game: would the USA consider inviting Boeser to the World Championships? Given that they usually ice a pretty barren roster over there and like to fill it out with a lot of younger players. No idea if he'd go since he may want to get a head start on rehabbing his wrist over the summer, but I'd be interested to see if they consider him or not.

Gatineau's still alive, and what was a 3-0 deficit is now 3-2 with a 5-3 come from behind win in Game 5. MacEwan scored the tying goal with four minutes to play and added an assist; he now has 4-3-7 in five playoff games.

Juolevi and the Knights are still alive after a 2-1 win in Game 5, cutting the series lead to 3-2. Game 6 goes on Sunday at 11:00am PST.

Juolevi in the AHL would be an interesting idea... there is definitely room on defense for him to sneak into a couple games down the stretch. McEneny, Subban, Robak and Billins are all mainstays but after that there's some space. Shields and Pedan have been in and out of the lineup and Nilsson is a regular scratch; Sautner has stayed in the lineup for the most part but Juolevi can probably bring more than he can. They also just got Negrin back from injury but he falls into a similar category with Sautner, he can play decently enough to hold his own but doesn't contribute a lot. Since its still NHL or junior for him next season, it'd be a good opportunity to see him play pro hockey for a few weeks.

The Q just does a 1 vs 16 format, don't they? If that's the case, Cape Breton could play Charlottetown, Acadie-Bathurst, or Rouyn-Noranda. If Rouyn-Noranda and Shawinigan both lose, they'll play Charlottetown; if just one of them loses, they'll play Acadie-Bathurst; if they both win they'll play R-N.- 1,427 replies
