  1. Great to see that the roster assembled can beat you any which way (physical?  They hit back; scoring?  Light them up on the power-play; defensively?  The team can clamp down and play solid, plus Marky can close the door at any given moment).

Though VGK may be more talented, I think the all-round abilities in the group here can outlast the Knights if they can weather the offensive barrage.

  2. Well, I mean if they aren't trading any of the big 3 and maybe haven't found a fit for guys like Kerfoot, then it's not the most unreasonable to move Kapanen? Not a Leafs fan so not going to pretty I know any better. Not saying it's a good deal but to get a 1st and Hallander who they liked and had their eye on in his draft year? Not bad, as long as they don't re-sign Rodrigues for his RFA price then they actually do save good money (can bury Warsofsky and Hallander's staying in Europe). Just watched his highlights though, and dang he is fast. Definitely can see why the Pens got the best current roster asset (likely) by a mile
  3. I bet he felt inspired after seeing Seth Jones log a little north of an hour in that game and has come to the conclusion Petro doesn't need to get off the ice.
  4. Only if we find a taker on Roussel first, IMO. We'd just be trading for a slower potential power forward. If there was a RD available then I'd offer Jake for that first.
  5. 6'1" doesn't seem too small plus hopefully he can fill out? Admittedly I haven't seen the guy play but should be value if a GM likes the kid and puts a 7th rounder in the lineup. We'd need guys like this if we're going to move on from Sutter and Beagle's price tags too. If Juulsen could somehow be part of the deal though, that would be great. @qwijibo sign and trade for Pearson+?
  6. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if only 5 of 7 of those guys gets re-signed (no to Toffoli and Stecher). As such, we're going to need budget guys, and Juolevi would probably be one of those guys that we'd need to fill in, in case we move on from Jordie. He's also finally showing that he's becoming ready and healthy to play in the big leagues, and now you want to trade him? That sounds like terrible asset management, not to mention that with the other goalies available in expansion, the Kraken might not even take Demko. All this is starting to sound a bit like a panic move, when (as has been discussed in other proposals ad nauseaum), Loui may find a taker in a team like Ottawa which would value the low salary but high cap hit.
  7. If a good 4th liner like Motte (whose offensive output could very well be a one-off) is who the team loses, I'd be perfectly happy with that. Unless he's the second coming of Justin "Mr Game 7" Williams, many teams already have productive bottom 6's, and our team isn't in a place to splurge on more pricey 4th liners anyways, not to mention that there's guys like Kole Lind who may be making their way up the ranks. This team hasn't had trouble finding young and hungry guys to fill out the roster for cheap. Agreed also that Demko hasn't really proven much, and there are other teams with more proven options available for selection. Stecher could be toughest to lose since he's shown that he plays bigger than he is and would not be fun to play against (plus the team needs RD).
  8. Agreed, plus his back-check in one of the games was definitely an eye-opener. Probably will need that against the faster Knights players e.g. Pacioretty and Karlsson.
  9. Great to see them put him back in a position to thrive on his goal. Must've taken some confidence boosting before Coach thought he had it in him, but glad he got the monkey off his back.
  10. Habs are out, looks like Vancouver is Canada's team.  Period.

      Haters are gonna love it

  11. Fair enough, maybe he'll become our Colton Sissons but discounted
  12. Yup. @Junkyard Dog and others make it sound like it'll break the bank with him
  13. Not sure what kind of sample size you see him having to warrant a big raise... His career high is 16 points and that was one game. It's entirely possible that he'll most he'll be a Tambellini or Jeff Cowan offensively but unless he's the next Burrows it's hard to imagine much north of $1 million. Even Burrows got a $2 million show-me deal.
  14. If Edler did have to miss time (thank goodness he doesn't), I'd be fine with either him or Benn bumping up for spot duty since they can definitely handle themselves against the rugged Blues forwards. Not a bad signing and showing for a guy who I think most fans just wanted to let walk for Juolevi.
  15. Fatten up Markstrom to give him more mass and make him tougher to beat #partoftheplan Keep it away from Virtanen though
  16. I'd stick him on either Jaden Schwartz or David Perron, since his speed and feistiness can definitely give them troubles. Not sure I'd want him as a center though (guys tend to check their positional counterpart)
  17. Lol fr I'm pretty cheap (frugal) IRL Wouldn't mind losing it to you if we go for drinks lol
  18. Lol such a workhorse, and we got him for an aging Thomas Vanek. Great asset to pick up, and his speed to burn sure helps against the "heavy Blues"
  19. WHERE WOULD WE BE WITHOUT HIM
  20. Git yer popcorn ready for the 3rd, gonna be a wild one

  21. Agreed. As great as it would be to have another waterbug like Barrie who can create with his skating, I think this playoffs has shown time and again the importance of a strong defensive group, since for all the firepower teams have up front, defenses still have to be able to get stops. There's potential, as mentioned, for Rafferty to show what he can do, and Stecher, for his lack of size, plays pretty big (same with Tanev). It would be great to upgrade on Benn (who's been good these couple games, don't get me wrong) and add another sizable right side guy since teams are trending toward needing both size, speed and skill to win. Hope the team can add someone with at least size and another element (either speed or skill) to the right side D. With that I doubt Barrie's our guy, short of him signing for super cheap.
  22. Dang both #1 seeds lost their first game. Dame Dollar sure came to play though, with those deeeeeeeep 3's in the 4th quarter.
  23. Agreed. He seems tentative, both in shooting and driving to the net. At the risk of exposing the 2nd unit for not having any face-off ability (before anyone comments and looks foolish for "pointing it out", I'm mentioning it already), I'd be open to put Sutter on PP1 and have him and Miller regularly swap sides. In the Sedin era, there was a time when Sutter was the only legit right shot threat and he did some damage, even though it was in set plays. As well, even in the Wild series he wasn't afraid to rush the net when the puck went there, so I'd be fine IF THE FIRST PP GOT TOTALLY SHUTDOWN to put Sutter on PP1 and someone like Roussel as the screener to free up more talent for the 2nd PP. Quinn Sutter/ Miller Miller/ Sutter (three outside shot threats) Horvat Roussel (purely for traffic and down-low plays) I'd even double shift Miller to have the Lotto Line run PP2 Edler Pete Brock Miller (he's been expert in screens and tips from long shots; if he's exhausted can swap in Jake) Pearson? (good at puck retrieval and good down-low)
