  1. TB/ CBJ Game 1, who you got winning it?  Include your GWG scorer, bragging rights for whoever gets it right

I think CBJ can counter attack and surprise them

But I think Korpisalo is going to pass the 100 save mark first.

How long before Torts has a nervous breakdown?

  2. If Vancouver gets knocked out, who's your next team to cheer for and why?  (Also who do you want to make it from the East?)

@Rubik same with you, hoping the Bunch of Jerks could go far

  3. I'm not sure nutty is nearly ludicrous enough to describe this.
  4. I would do a move like this only if cap dumps are successful (I am intrigued in what Cernak brings as an overall player but would want to have the rest of the team's situation set before poaching an RFA) e.g. does Ferland retire? If so that frees up $3.5 million and would help in retaining the big UFA's and could make adding a big RFA possible if Sutter goes on a tear as a valued two way guy, do we want to let either him or Beagle go? Does Virtanen permanently keep a spot in the lineup (same with Gaudette)? If not, could we acquire picks back for him and Gaudette? (Crazy as it sounds) what if Loui stays in the lineup as a shutdown key cog on the second line? Would the team still try to dump him? Do Toffoli and Demko still look like important future pieces? Could TD supplant Marky if (god forbid) he gets injured? For all these moveable pieces, I would want to have the questions resolved before adding someone as substantial contract-wise as Erik.
  5. Exactly why I didn't want to play the Stars, esp seeing how they lit us up 6-1 in the second time against them. As much as people don't want to play the tight-checking champion Blues, I like how our young guns got the experience of grinding it out against another workmanlike team in the Wild. Of course the Blues' depth is greater than just Fiala, but the team hopefully has learned how to tighten up in front of Marky and the bottom 6 is gelling at the right time (Roussel - Sutter - Virtanen looks solid, as do Motte/ Beagle and MacEwen). If Markstrom, Quinn and the big guns stay hot and they don't let the Blues take liberties then I like our chances.
  6. Hoping for Canes in this one, if Vancouver doesn't win it all I'd want either them or Tampa. Canes' speed and depth might be too much.
  7. Can officially say the Canucks are a playoff team again!!

  8. Low-event/ low danger, mid-level ceiling for a start wouldn't be bad. Rather a guy like that than a Derrick Pouliot. Given time I feel like he could easily become another big-minute safe all-around guy, hopefully ultimately in the mold of a (poor man's) Josi/ Chabot or a Heiskanen/ Slavin type smooth operator, to replace Edler's role and complement Hughes (though having a left D-man with some edge would be great given how neither Rathbone or Hughes are the biggest guys nor are any of the 3 the most physical).
  9. From what I've seen, Good: - Tampa's team speed - Chicago's scoring depth - Motte/ Miller on the PK - Roussel's pull-away speed on that breakaway goal - the Bunch of Jerks (sick top line and D group) - Winnipeg out (would've hated to play against them) - Columbus: playing well as defensive underdogs Bad: - injuries (Ferland, Muzzin, Schiefele, Laine...) - Pittsburgh/ *possible Edmonton/ Toronto getting #1 (if the other two lose) - Saros (Predators goalie) looks tiny in the crease, let in some clean shots, 3+ GAA
  10. Great to see that the team can dial it up defensively when needed. Clearly the firepower is there but they'll need to buckle down (as they've done) when/ if they make it to the next round, plus everyone can chip in with regards to grit/ tenacity.
  11. Good point about most of them being bigger. Hopefully he can watch tape on guys like Letestu who's 50%+ every season and learn something. That and practice against Miller/ Beagle/ Horvat to get better.
  12. Hmm interesting idea. If we're going to build for the playoffs then Sutter's probably more suitable for #3 C as he's proving. Hobey Baker winner aside, if the fit just isn't there as a 2-way match-up C in Gaudette then it's a solid packaging option for moving our beloved Swede. Then if Lind's as good of a playmaker as he was touted to be since his draft days maybe we could run a 3rd line of Roussel - Sutter - Lind. Yeah, he's our Selk-ehhhh quality shutdown man. Now, bidding starts at $1...
  13. He's leaving the bubble. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/canucks-micheal-ferland-will-leaving-bubble-due-injury/ We hardly knew ye, but all the best.
  14. Wonder how the team will stop Fiala (with half of the Wild goals, and all scored from the same spot)

    1. Hairy Kneel

      Hairy Kneel

      Staple Motte to his ass.

  15. If he gets better in draws I sure hope he can become a Henrik Zetterberg, he's definitely got the feisty nature but just isn't good enough at draws (guys like Zetterberg and Backstrom have hovered around 50% for their careers, making them so dominant all-around). Hope his time with Miller and Horvat results in him learning the tricks of the trade, because we know he can score, assist, play D and dish it.
  16. If Jake plays his way back into the lineup and Ferland also proves to be a force, I wonder if we could trade MacEwen and else (maybe a 2nd?) with Loui? Zack's at worst a 3rd line wing with potential (and if they're built anything like the Knights they'd want young grinder PF's to help with scorers up top).
  17. Sometimes it's better to not say anything if unconfirmed and clearly this is one of those occasions. For crying out loud, Donald.
  18. Thank goodness, we can probably call it a series if he got suspended, and he's probably one of the few wrecking balls we'd need to break through.
  19. I'm curious if Bo could be that center who could re-create some semblance of That 70's Line, which was known for effective puck retrieval and second chance attempts
  20. Fight fire with fire then, we have tough guys up front who can carry in pucks together and grind things out. Stack two of them to a line to help the skill break through the wall and generate chances on Stalock (they didn't really get into the ice directly in front of him). It's ironic though that the pure finesse guys/ leaders on the team may be at a disadvantage in this series, and I'd like to see them split (note: try to not view this as a 1st to 4th line but waves of grit, each with skill on it). Ferland - Miller - Pete (let Micheal loose, his size definitely would help in attacking the crease) Jake - Bo - Boeser (Brock's also 200+ lbs and can skate, have Jake/ Bo lug the puck hope that would help with battling against the big, mobile D) Roussel - Sutter - MacEwen (win draws, grind, cycle and work it out front; these wings have had chemistry) Bailey - Beagle - Toffoli (for all their heart and talent, Motte's too small and Pearson's slow; Bailey can likely skate his way out of trouble)
  21. Ferland to top line to support Pete and Miller?  Brock's working hard but doesn't have the combo of raw size/ strength and skill to open up ice for Miller and Pete (who are both gritty but not strong enough to fend off checks).

    1. King Heffy

      King Heffy

I wouldn't mind Jake there.  Not moaning about him being scratched, but some lineup changes are obviously in order here.

    2. Bell

      Bell

Ferland would be a great fit on that line.  Get that strong forecheck game going and make Dumba eat some glass. They can't let Minnesota take liberties on Pettersson like they did last night with no repercussions.  Go Canucks Go.

      apollo

I like it. Ferrly top line! GETTIRRR DUN!

  22. Definitely is a start by bringing back Jake but I'd alter it a bit more personally since the team's having trouble with the Wild's defensive shell Pete - Miller - Brock (have our best face-off man take all draws; Pete's gritty and can handle winger duties, Ferland supports the fore-check) Ferland - Bo - Jake (play a direct, north-south, 200-foot game with hard fore-check and putting pucks on net -- probably only way we beat their D group) Roussel - Sutter - Mac (similar to above, except work the cycle after the draw and work it into the crease for one-timers) Pearson - Beagle - Motte (Tanner's strong enough defensively to help the other two at least not be a liability, as they were hemmed in pretty often) Agreed with bringing in OJ, except for Fantenberg who was non-existent. If only proven by the exhibition, Olli can thread long passes, which the team struggled to do with the Wild clogging. We need as many skilled straight-line passers as we can get.
