  1. Yeah, if he's available, not going to SJ (when they trade for EK65) and they don't get Tarasenko, I'd definitely offer Boeser and maybe even a young winger prospect for Pesce (with extension discussions before the trade). Boeser's flirted with 30 goals before (in a 62 game campaign), so if his wrists are healthy he can definitely be that guy who can finish off plays from their playmakers, like Aho if he gets a chance with him.
  2. Oh no, guess they gotta lose Kampf and Giordano; I'll take the former for 3C, thanks
  3. I agree with these as the next type of guys to add up front. The closest we have to that kind of pushback up front would be Joshua, and I'm being generous (he's agitating and has spurts of good play, but it'd be optimal if they were in our top-6, e.g. move a Boeser/ Garland/ Beauvillier for them).
  4. OP's clearly traumatized by his report card, when he had to show his parents his one glaring C grade.
  5. Arizona's probably building, they're going to need to buy to insulate their kids, even after adding Durzi (who's more offensive himself). Kraken will need to sign or replace Soucy, although they already have Oleksiak, Larsson and Borgen left on their roster.
  6. Would rather get Nemeth than Dumba. He's not even scoring that much anymore and won't get PP time since we have Hughes and Hronek, so we should look for defensive guys instead.
  7. I'd say sign Nemeth for one year, and if he performs well and there's interest at the deadline we can flip him for futures. If he doesn't play well we can either bench or demote him. No loss really.
  8. If Giordano can hold down the fort on the LD with Hronek or Myers then definitely.
  9. He's barely slowed down on offense and is probably still as good as ever on defense. I doubt he signs for much less (if any lesser) than the $6 million AAV. Agreed with others too that we should give other guys a chance, e.g. I hope we give Raty a long look or can trade a wing for a 3rd line C.
  10. Yeah I was aware of that, but when it comes to positional needs I was giving an example of the type of move we should look for.
  11. We don't need another puck-mover which is what Addison is (and a PP QB primarily). I'd rather keep Bear. As well, as a rule of thumb that I stick with, I think we should deal with our in-house priorities first before trying to pry guys away, otherwise richer teams might try to exploit our lack of cap space again. Case in point, move a pricey winger (e.g. Garland/ Beauvillier), land a 3rd C (possibly Freddie Gaudreau if they're really short on money?), then re-sign Petey/ Hronek/ Bear (if we want). We're not quite home free yet esp. when the Wild have more space than we do (even though they only have 15 guys signed).
  12. Points wise yes, there is upside. HOWEVER, is this what you want from your 3rd C, averaging 1-2 draws per game, with a 40.5% percentage as the best he's shown so far? Not every winger/ center is JT Miller who you can pigeonhole and expect to pan out and be elite up the middle also, and if we want to take some of the pressure off of Petey and Miller when it comes to contributing in all areas, Yegor doesn't look like the best supporting guy up the middle. You may disagree, but that's my thoughts.
  13. I might do the first trade, but pretty skeptical about the benefit of the 2nd. OP, if you're expecting Bahl to fill that 2nd pair LD role, prepare to be disappointed; he was playing around 3rd pair minutes in the playoffs and ended up getting scratched at the end of the round against the Canes. Sharangovich is also pretty inconsistent, so that might be the "Ballard/ Raymond/ 2nd" equivalent in the modern era. I'd easily ask for other players instead.
  14. Agreed with others that Vanecek is too much of a platoon 1A/1B situation type of goalie for my liking. He got hot along with Schmid last season but it's probably far from certain to happen again. Even with Martin as the presumed backup (I'd want Silovs starting in the AHL) it's still too much to ask, when we've already got our workhorse in net. Wonder if we could take out the goalies, take out Garland, put in Mikheyev with Myers and trade for McLeod and Marino. Mikheyev's a solid winger himself and would probably waive to go to a contender, and the acquisitions would meet positional needs at 3C/ RD.
  15. In my eyes he's essentially a bigger Bieksa - mobile and with decent offense, but to come anywhere close to his shutdown potential he needs an absolutely stable defensive partner (Hammer for Juice/ OEL that one year for Myers). If we can find that guy who can let him loose to roam and provide that needed cohesion on defense, then we might be able to trade him for a positive return. Maybe that guy is Hirose?
  16. Hot take - play him as a winger on the 4th line, and have him as the PP net front screener. He'll be tough to move at that size, and has the skillset for the forecheck.
  17. I would prefer to keep #11. Reading on other fan sites, Detroit needs a scorer, so if we hold off on getting #11, I wonder if we could do Maatta + Rasmussen (massive forward with 3rd C potential and PK experience, 50%+ faceoff winning percentage too), plus maybe a pick if they're desperate. The two of them combined would cost around $4.5 million ($3 million for Maatta, Rasmussen for $1.46) and would fill two needs in our roster.
  18. I'd do it. Flyers could too, even if they trade Hayes and Konecny they still have Frost and Cates as their future up the middle, and with Tippett and Farabee they have the start to a young group of wings. Come to think of it, Garland at 27 might be a bit too old for that timeline though, but again if they do it I would too.
  19. Yes to all of those. Liked what Juulsen brought, and Acciari with Garland/ Podkolzin looks promising since the two wingers are both good playmakers, and Noel's got the hands to finish off some of their passes (he had 14 goals this past season). Above all, having safety net partners for OEL (Hronek) and Myers (Hagg/ Hirose) already make the bottom 2/3 of the defense look much better, esp. for cheap to get Hagg.
  20. If the Pens want Garland I'd happily take Rutta back (cup champ, RHD with size [6'2", 204 lbs.] and only 2 years * $2.75 million per). If Hoglander wants out for the 2nd deal I would do it. Same with the 3rd deal.
  21. Hirose, or perhaps Brisebois (who looked decent in a defensive role). Akito's skating, stickwork and angles would help him lock things down like a poor man's Hughes, whereas he can transition the puck up ice and let Giraffe do his thing. If Akito's not ready then we ought to pair him with a defense-first LD (or see if Burroughs can stick if he's not up with Quinn).
  22. True, but Allvin (under JR's tutelage) would probably still have the same mindset, esp. seeing how the elder of the two ran things in Pittsburgh. It's probably ingrained in there somewhere.
  23. Let's just bring back Bear, that would be the prudent move. Then again, knowing this management's affinity towards name players (e.g. trading for OEL), I think Severson may very well be coming in 24 days.
