wow, page 333 in this thread enters on a HIGH note and exits LOW.... ...I love being a Canucks fan.

I've been on the fence for a long time on 23, but if he doesn't start to pass the puck to the 5th leading goalscorer in the NHL on the PP, I'm going to lose it!
-
I guess I’m still gun shy after all the NTC’s gmmg threw around. Edler could have been capitalized on for a quality pick/asset....
-
Guddy is definitely growing on me this year. Punishing checks and simple plays are exactly what we need from 44. Hopefully the dollars will work out, and with no NTC please!
-
Major points scored by Benning with the fan base and ownership group if Pouliot can stick and be an effective offensive weapon.
-
I really can’t believe we landed him for what we did. could the hockey gods finally be shifing their favour?....
-
I'd like to see a more NHL proven guy, rather than Burmistrov, play with Gagner and Virtanen. Vanek would be interesting.... this could be a bottom six line that preys on weaker defensive matchups. How nice to have a bit of talent this year to spread out through the four lines.

Jake has increased his value to the team by using his speed and aggresive style more completely in a 200 ft game. He is putting his head down and burning a&$ back to the d-zone, getting down low and breaking up plays more consistently. I also see his knack for aggressive physical play in front of the net where, after the whistle in scrums, Jake does not shy away from throwing bodies out of the crease. This is great news because we all know that his shot, hitting and speed are above average but if he keeps this disciplined approach up (and I suspect with Greener at the helm Jake will) we might be watching the developement of a real future leader of this club.

I hope to see gagner with Virt again tonight. They had great chemistry last game. Gagner was looking for Virt in the offensive zone and is a better passer than I thought.

I was really just being silly with that suggestion....., ......but when a player (even a young player) displays a natural aptitude for something sorely lacking in your lineup, when is the time to give it a try? And lets be honest, we want the best club iced possible, all the hullabaloo over loosing a waiver eligible assett is a little over the top (ie: Corrado). Canucks have boatloads of meh talent that are waiver eligible and very few (or no) pp specialists.

His passing and play making game have the potential to be "elite".
-
I had the thought that he should of got 9 games just to play the front of the net on the PP.

Any word on if Bo is injured? He was getting attention from the trainer on the bench and wasn't skating with his line at the end of the game- I think granlund jumped up and played C in place of Bo, but it was pretty early this AM I might have been seeing things.

Wow. Brock has blown through the ceiling of what I had projected. This dude is a legit scoring weapon and seems to be getting better as his confidence increases.
-
Stetcher with a tremendous effort to right the ship in this very shaky first period in SJ. All over the ice on the defensive offensive side of the puck. Taking some risks to move in deeper on the play but hustling hard to recover position on the backcheck- silly to say, but almost Doughty like. Boeser and Stetcher rekindle that chemistry nicely late in the first when Boeser makes a cross ice feed from the halfwall back to Stetcher, who quickly returns the puck and Brock getting a quality shot. 6 with a little stick twirl after the play.

I was listening to an philosophically inclined podcast and the subject of leadership came. It was said that a great leader doesn't talk in terms of "I" but instead "we". They were referring to American politics and not sports, but after watching Bo's interview in the second intermission last night vs. LA, it was clear that we have an exceptional person on our hands. Who knows where his potential tops out, he keeps breaking through the ceilings that I've imagined for him.

Guance Sutter Goldobin was a nice 3rd line. Hope to see them again today!!

If Loui plays with Horvat for a full season, then he's a 50 pt. 200 ft. player and no one complains about this signing. Why wait till the trade deadline to pair Loui with the obvious C he should have played with all along...? They virtually played zilch together until now. I remember after a penalty kill sometime in early December, and the lines accidentally got jumbled, 53 and 21 had some offensive zone attack time and it was perfectly obvious to me that they needed to play together for the reason of instant chemistry.

Jake will have a place on the new generation roster that is being built. With the high skill guys that have recently been acquired, his heavy, speed game will be a very useful tool for the coach to have at his disposal in the middle 6. He is serving an apprenticeship in "200 foot hockey" and as anyone in the trades knows, you got to get through some crap before you get your opportunities. It's simply a matter of training and I think we have the mentors, both in Utica and the big club, to show this guy how it's done! Keep working hard Jake, as long as you want it bad you can't fail.

Perhaps with pro players in a pro structure, those quick touch passes will be easier for him to incorporate into his game.
-
Bieksa had snarl but I seem to remember him bouncing off of a lot of players that he was trying to punish in front of the net.
-
His intelligence was always highly touted and we're seeing that him use that IQ to adapt his style of play to be a regular in the show. He has done everything asked of him and then some and it's working. I think he turned some heads, like most great leaders, by being in phenomenal physical condition at training camp.
-
And his ability to find a lane from the point stands out.
-
I actually like Guance's game. He is competing very hard and separating players from the puck with an intense forecheck. I see him being on a solid path to a competent bottom 6.
-
I was going to write something after the game but this post summed it up. The only caveat being that Stetch maybe playing with a bit of a stinger, which is not to takeaway from the monster that 88 is becoming. And it was nice to see Tryamkin hitting tonight.
