  1. Last year the Leafs were probably the better team. They certainly laid on the pressure in that game 7 but just couldn't buy a goal. That's playoffs, though. The weaker team can squeak through and go all the way off a few lucky bounces. On such a top-heavy team like Toronto, it's a nightmare to watch your franchise player throw punches and risk breaking their hand. If Pettersson or Hughes gets caught in a scrum, they should wrestle as hard as they can and get to the ground so the linesman can break things up. I think the only two who weren't fighting were Marner and Hedman. There aren't a lot of Leafs players who can match up well with Hedman. No point in blaming anyone here.
  2. This is hockey reffing. You can cross-check a guy in the back three times but of they don't go down, it never gets called. It's totally illegal, though, and it's no wonder why players try to embellish getting hit. Slashing is the exact same thing. If I slash your skate nothing should happen, but it's totally illegal. It makes total sense for you to go down in "pain" and deservedly draw a penalty. But on the same day, you get phantom calls and make-up calls to make the game a complete mess. Draisaitl is stupid. He's still been Edmonton's best player by a wide margin, but he should know he doesn't have a great reputation with the refs. He's a moody, grumpy player and will lash out for no reason. Doesn't matter how soft it is - don't give anything they can punish you for.
  3. Oops! Didn't mean it that way but I see it now... Every team needs a Loui. We have OEL, and now they got Bo. We are a generous team.
  4. Horvat should be better than this, but in his first 33 games, he's got 7 goals. Loui Eriksson had 6 goals in his first 33 games with the Canucks. I think they're using him wrong, which is not good for such a key player.
  5. Rielly wouldn't last a minute on the UFA market before getting locked into a long-term deal anywhere. Just try and get one other person on this forum to agree with you. Just try.
  6. They're all doing it. Maybe some are overpaid but every team would be glad to have those players for the right price. ALL 32 teams would want them. So you're saying you're smarter than all the GMs, all the players, and basically 99% of the people who follow hockey.
  7. There are over a dozen D-men in the league who do nothing but play offense and can't defend to save themselves. Bouchard, Barrie, Rielly, Karlsson, Klingberg... guess what they all have in common? They all have high player value. They're getting paid big bucks. Why is that? Why does the entire league seem to value these players? Doesn't that just make you look stupid? It's comical that you think Rielly should be in a press box on a day he scored at will. You'd think it would shut you up for once.
  8. Yes. Because that is the way the league has trended. We are about to get a 3-time Norris Trophy winner who hasn't played a lick of defence all season long. Karlsson is a worse defender than Rielly and he is about to get rewarded handsomely for it. Eat it.
  9. Folks here just don't get it. The Maple Leafs are AMAZING when it comes to getting three wins. Doesn't matter how it plays out - they will get to game 7 one way or the other. And lose.
  10. The story of this season. Necessary changes made too late.
  11. No, you're saying he's a disgrace to the league when nearly every player in the league believes he's the best player by a wide margin. Maybe you should just accept that hockey has moved on from your dinosaur ways.
  12. Yes and no. We tend to lose our best personnel and the crap ones stick around. Who was that drafting guy we lost before Benning got fired?
  13. Even your least favourite player or the league's worst player can have good games. You have an obsessive hatred of certain players and it's borderline crazy.
  14. Not all game just the 2nd half for sure. Funny that it's Edmonton learning the same lesson THEY taught US this season - no lead is safe.
  15. On the Iafallo goal? He was in front trying to block the pass to Kempe. If he blocks the shooting lane Kempe has a wide open one-timer. Standard PK breakdown.
  16. You wouldn't be the only one who thinks that way, but I think it's wrong. All the talent is coming from the East this year. That side is completely stacked with juggernauts up and down the playoff bracket. Meanwhile, all the game ones from each Western matchup has been won by the underdog. In any case, think about all the famous rivalries and potential matchups we might get this year. All of them are going to come from the Eastern Conference. A Bruins-Leafs matchup sounds way cooler because of the history. I get why people like the newest teams. The new jerseys from Vegas and Seattle look awesome. But to say that old-school is boring? That's crossing the line. The Eastern Conference teams are indeed old. There's nothing inherently wrong with appreciating the beauty of the good old hockey game. There is a rich history to enjoy, and there's nothing wrong with people telling stories of a time long gone. One of my favourite all-time hockey videos is from 1967. Give it watch on a big screen. I like to try and name as many players as I can.
