  1. I know he's got another year left, but can we claim him just to get us through this season? We can bury him in Abbotsford next year. He can literally drive to work on home games!
  2. It's crazy that I bought the 2022 Whitecaps pride night warmup jersey for like $40 on an adidas sale last year. Are they deliberately pricing us out?
  3. Definitely not a worst case scenario, but one that'll likely have her miss a couple months. Get well!
  4. I just hope it's not priced like the First Nations merch. I think the jersey was $1000 and the sweater was $150 or something. Just too much for my budget.
  5. You mean like a donation drive to help the re-tool? All proceeds go straight to OEL and Myers. You can be part of fixing our mistakes!
  6. San Jose of all teams is the most likely to lose out the season. They have rocketed straight for the bottom and are now the favourites to win the Bedard Bowl. They wouldn't screw that up just to give Vancouver hope...
  7. Fans would be so pissed off if Vancouver traded two younger players for a veteran like Kuznetsov. But Beauvilier and Garland aren't rebuild players either. So Caps fans would also be pissed knowing they could've gotten prospects and picks for him.
  8. Another thread in which the majority of posters seem intent on slotting Hronek down on the 2nd pairing and not beside Hughes. He must play on the first pairing or this trade doesn't look good. He has one year left on his contract. If he continues to improve, he will want at least $6.5-7 million, and maybe more. You cannot put that contract on a 2nd pair. All current players earning that $6-8M range and are NOT on the first pairing are considered overpaid. Trouba, Vlasic, Johnson, Dumba, all should be earning less. Then you have our own guys OEL and Myers. If Hronek does not improve, he forces Vancouver to make the same decision they made with Brock Boeser last year - extend him to a contract despite him struggling and likely not wanting to stay. He is point-producing puck mover who should be able to eat as many minutes as Hughes.
  9. Oh, what a shame.... Bianca had been going on a little run in Miami, looking 2019 version of herself. She just hurt her ankle really badly tonight.... just look up the video. but I warn you.... it's not gruesome but she was screaming in pain. Pretty distressing. At best she has rolled her ankle and will take weeks to return. The worst case scenario is more likely - torn ligament(s) meaning her season is over.
  10. Another problem with the list of current wild card chasers is that they are set to play each other multiple times. The Preds, Flames, and Jets all play each other twice, plus one Preds-Blues game. So that is a guaranteed minimum of 8 more points spread amongst those teams we are chasing.
  11. Impossible - Quinn Hughes is already 43. Get your facts straight buddy
  12. He is signed to Vancouver... so what does the amateur tryout entail? Does he have a game limit? Can he play in Abby's postseason?
  13. You would be surprised how supportive CDC is to Canucks management. Out of any Canucks or general hockey community, CDC is probably the least inclined to support a rebuild. Seriously - check what other team communities think of us. Name a hockey YouTube channel or subreddit or podcast or anything - they are all wondering why the hell the Canucks didn't embrace a full rebuild and instead bought at the deadline. If we were truly shooting for the playoffs, we would never have kept Boudreau on for as long as he was here. I'm a massive supporter of him and I still hate ownership/management for doing him dirty. It was clear he was not their guy very early in the season, but they dragged it out unnecessarily, ruining our reputation around the league and causing an absolute media frenzy. It was such an obvious distraction to the players, and we basically were just giving away wins for free. Last year, there was essentially no chance of us making the playoffs when everything changed in December. Yet somehow we managed to almost squeak into a wild card spot. This was not part of the plan when Aquilini fired everyone. Nothing was working, and moves were hinted in the summer. But by the summer, multiple players were re-signed to large contracts. Now that we're set to go on another push, I expect our thin prospect pool to get even thinner. Of course there is no guarantee that a 5/6 player will be better than 11/12. There technically isn't even a guarantee #1 will be an NHL superstar. But it's madness to think there isn't a better chance. Why are you being so stubborn about that?
  14. When a non-playoff team plays its youngsters, there is no point in sheltering their minutes. They know they're in over their heads, but they just want to get some minutes in and soak in the experience. The irony here is that our AHL youngsters currently on the main team are all actually kinda old (which speaks to our prospect depth). There seems to be a lack of respect from management/ownership with the fans, especially those who would've liked to see an earnest rebuild, not these constant three-month tank jobs followed by meaningless late pushes. As for your point about drafts, I don't see it. No sane team would ever deliberately want to draft lower. The only exception would be if they traded down, but you have to admit that it's very wishful thinking to hope that our inevitable 11th overall pick is better than whoever goes 4th or 5th.
  15. That's just draft unpredictability, though. No team would rather draft 14 or 15 over 6 or 7. The later picks might very well pan out better than the earlier picks, but to think that's the norm is a weird way of approaching drafts. Regarding player time, it is very clear that the Canucks are playing like they're fighting for the playoffs. The deployments are very reliant upon the star players. Yes, we are getting good contributions up and down the lineup, but there's no doubt that Demko is playing as many games as one could possibly play. Hughes is playing more minutes than Doughty or prime Keith. It's absurd how much he's playing. You just don't expect this from a team that's long been out of the playoffs. I think the only reason we haven't called up any of our remaining Abby prospects is because there's a call-up limit that we've already hit. But even if we could call them up, they wouldn't.
  16. If any attempts to move players fail... then you're stuck with the team. Cross your fingers and put your star players on overtime (like right now). Maybe we get a wild card if everyone stays healthy. Otherwise we get "fire _____" chants.
  17. Spin it however you want, but ordinary people got riled up and started torching their own city. You'd expect a winning side to start rioting in celebration, not the losing side. Before 2011 Vancouver riots were romanticized. People looked back to the smaller '94 riot as part of that old school cool Vancouver culture. That culture died the day we lost to the Bruins. Those people you saw probably just brought stuff to have good time (which included rioting stuff but I'm sure alcohol too).
  18. Buckle up for some wardrobe malfunctions - I say a number falls off a player next season
  19. I don't know why people keep thinking this will be the initial set-up. Hronek is a solid player and we paid a hefty price for him. If he is re-signed, he will also earn at least $6.5M. He was the move to slot into that top RD role we've desperately needed. Thoughts on having two offensive puck movers with average defensive metrics playing together? Doesn't matter what I think - Allvin made his intentions clear. Hughes and Hronek will start the season on the top pairing.
