  1. Our boy Burrows is moving up the ranks! Congratulations to Alex on his appointment and promotion to being an assistant coach in the NHL! Running parallel to his NHL career, he has paid his dues in the minor leagues and has risen to the big leagues!
  2. I'll take this quote with a grain of salt but it looks like Holtby and Miller has settled this like gents and moved forward. The accountability between teammates is the best course of action right now, especially since the team has tuned out the coaching staff. I sure hope there was a Players-Only meeting sometime during this Toronto stretch.
  3. I wonder if that's going to be this season's equivalent of FIRST NAME LAST NAME. I gotta say, if we merged the two of them together, that would make a pretty solid addition to our Top-6
  4. Here's a fun little tidbit about this trade and fitting with the continual discussions about how COVID protocol plays into league-wide transactions: As long as everyone remains safe, this is a nice little logistical oddity for the history books!
  5. Excellent to see the league fans are taking note of EP40 given that these are the numbers off the NHL Shop via Fanatics, vs local sales numbers for our Vancouver market. This is the first time in a number of years we have seen a Canuck on these types of lists.
  6. Pretty solid deal! Nicely done by GMJB and officially, welcome to the Canucks, Hamonic!
  7. An extra tidbit of their conversation post-scrimmage
  8. For what it's worth, Motte has chimed in on the situation (perhaps Gaudette will do the same in a bit) On the point of the hit / slewfoot, it was definitely more dangerous than most hits, especially in a team practice but the intensity is understandable while each player on the ice, especially the bottom-6 are all fighting for regular playing time in a condensed season. Stay healthy boys, it'll be a battle over the next few months.
  9. SKA president Roman Rotenberg has chimed in on the situation, and has temporarily cleared the air of where Podkolzin stands in their organization. I hope this does not cause a distraction for Podz but he has demonstrated that he can shut out the negativity and focus on his craft. All the best to him in this back-and-forth situation, and I hope we can see him in Canucks Blue, White, and Green soon
  10. If the reports are true, I think a sub-$1.2M/YR contract will be a steal for Hamonic for what he brings both from a replacement and upgrade standpoint. Despite him being pegged as a 3rd pairing right now, I can see him jumping up to a 2nd pairing if he can gel with his new defensive-corp, or even an occasional first-pairing when he needs to back-up his tired teammates on an extended shift or the like.
  11. Vintage is back! Excellent signing for the Bolts to get Cirelli taken care of. (I recognize the space opening up with Kucherov on the mend definitely helped accelerate the timeline).
  12. Another great article from Gillian Kemmerer who has a beat on the Russian side of things, spanning from the NHL to the Junior ranks. Here's her interview with Pods prior to the start of the World Juniors tune-up! Podkolzin is carrying himself like a true captain and stellar teammate: https://en.khl.ru/news/2020/12/24/479101.html Feel free to click through the link for the whole interview but these questions and answers stood out for me:
  13. The Blues posted an intro/hype video on the official announcement
  14. On a lighter note, whenever the AHL Twitter account posts flashbacks on their graduates, I always look out for former and current Canuck players. Today's highlight is none other than our Loui Eriksson. I know the bar is set lower, but perhaps he can find a groove in a 2nd/3rd line tweener role this year, with some flashes of brilliance here and there as he might be facing lesser competition on a checking/supporting line.
  15. Another year of the league underestimating EP40. It will be a great battle for Petey to silence his critics for ranking him at 38 out of 40
  16. Both Anthony Stewart and Justin Bourne have ranked our Quinn Hughes at the top of the Canadian Division defensemen rankings heading into the final decision when puck drop will resume. Noteworthy addition on including Schmidt on Stewart's list after ripping on the Canucks throughout the Bubble Playoffs earlier this year (hmmm).
  17. Thanks for posting the article @Fred65 and @Honeydew! Agreed, I am glad that Hannay was able to carve out another career in business and congrats on his pending deal with two Dragons. Best of luck to the trio on their partnership and looks like his second career has him connecting back to Vancouver/BC once again!
  18. Vasy getting good praise from Larionov - he has demonstrated great leadership and poise throughout the Karjala Cup!
  19. Millsy getting some love from the NHL Network (who was subsequently promoted by the main NHL social media account). Ranked #17 on their list and on the fan vote!
  20. A short, fun clip of Vasily with some stick tricks for the Russia Hockey social media channels! Looking pretty hyped and collected for the upcoming tournament! Rough translation via Google/Twitter: "Look at the puck. And on the club (hockey stick - sp.)! And we will watch all of Vasily Podkolzin and the Russian national team together at the Karjala Cup, where our team will start on November 5."
  21. Despite his recent "demotion" - which I personally see as a blessing in disguise - he will get more ice-time to hone in his 200 FT game and be even more well-rounded. Practice, repetition, and fine-tuning his skill-set before making the jump back up to another tier level. On that note, it looks like the Russian staff in charge of icing the team for the upcoming Karjala Cup tournament is confident in Podkolzin's abilities and leadership qualities to captain their squad. Congrats Vasily and excited for what is next in your development track!
  22. The NHL Network has listed our Quinn Hughes as #11 on their Top 20 Defensemen list! (He was listed as #12 on a fan-surveyed list.) See the full list via their Twitter account here:
  23. Welcome back to Utica-Vancouver, No. 56... Mister Breeeeeez-Bwwwah!
  24. A beautiful penalty shot goal by Höglander as he tried to pull away from the defender about 15 feet from the goaltender. The speed on his solo effort and shot in stride was very smooth.
  25. Best of luck to Fanta in the KHL - he stepped up for us in the bottom-pairing role during the playoffs. For his style of play, unconventionally, the less noticeable he was, the better the result. Echoing the posters above, he will find his way back into the post-COVID NHL if he picks up where he left off and continues his serviceable play
