Portable Air Conditioners - Junk or Effective?
wiseupsucker replied to Angry Goose's topic in Off-Topic General
Before I got central AC I had a portable one. because of my bedroom situation I had to get longer hoses, For the exhaust hose, I got some cheap blankets and sort of "insulated" it. It deffo worked cause before the air around it was a bit warmer but after the insulation the warmth was negligible. Maybe look into pre-insulated hoses? -
I'm 48 and managed to luck out on a maintenance gig that is long term and covid/recession proof. Even though I meet all the trade certificate requirements I'm still basically learning another trade. It's challenging but also exciting. Kudos to you! That being said, even though I got out of the construction side of trades doesn't mean it's not a good direction to take, especially on the industrial side of things. Problem I see is, in high school they only really focus on the "usual" trades, like carpentry or mechanics. There's a whole lot of other disciplines out there that I wish I knew about when I graduated. Instrumentation, millwright, steamfitter/pipe fitter and even diving deeper like riggers and and power engineers. The demand is high and the pay is pretty freaking good. Edit. Also forgot to mention, if you can weld and get good at stainless tig for pressure piping, you will pretty much never be out of work

[Signing] Oilers sign Evander Kane
wiseupsucker replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
my ultimate Kane scenario... Oilers miss the playoffs...this would be great Oliers get Flames in playoffs and Flames win...this also would be great Oliers get Flames in playoffs and Kane goes beast mode and destroys the fLames completely...as I can't control how Kane conducts himself off ice, I would like for him to totally embarrass the Calgary Losers on ice -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
wiseupsucker replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
i Know it would be in our division and I hate them with a passion but Calgary needs a centre like Miller real bad and they only have a small Gaudreau window. Miller and a 3rd for Monahan(to make cap work) Coronato and a !st. We would have two firsts next year and a developing scoring winger -

People wanting 1000 bucks for portable AC yikes! Glad this spring I took the plunge and bought central AC for my townhouse here in Chilliwack. I hummed and hawed for a couple of years because it's a big expense, but was worth it in the end!

Jim Benning's mid-season press conference

I genuinely laugh at anybody who thinks it will be easy to get rid of contracts for picks with the wave of a magic wand in a cap era. Even when there was no covid and flat cap teams were using picks to get rid of contacts, now enter a flat cap which makes it harder. EVERYTHING now is going to be cap in cap out. We have entered into a era where cap is more valuable than draft picks. Good luck in people who think at the deadline we can be sellers for the contracts you want to get rid of for a bounty of picks. -
I get laid off before xmas due to covid and think to myself, if you aren't working, might as well spring for a year of sportsnet now. Not working and got loads of time to watch a condensed shedule. This many games in, i'm so disappointed I wasted a not a insignificant amount of money this year on this garbage. Kinda feels like the 80's

Riiiight, doesn't excuse his play, and the team to be fair this season minus first game. Been on the ice for terrible goals and seems to be trying too much. Sure, possibly best dman in Canucks history, but the way he is currently playing, I would have to say no. This isn't a single or a couple of games, so far he's been crappy all games except one. He's got to reset and stop trying too much. If you don't think he doesn't merit criticism then...well...then...whatever

Last few seasons we have traditionally started strong which has played a major role in our fight for the post season...a bit worrisome what we are experiencing. Kinda sorta not really worried, if I recall, even Tampa had some off years while building. This might not be our year, and if there was a year to be "off" this would be it... Calgary might be the real deal, and if they are I just threw up in my mouth. Ughh

I dunno man, KoS beats the NDP and Bonnie Henry anti mask and anti social distancing drum pretty hard where his claims are full of half truths and hyperbole. The ONE thing he does well is to incessantly repeat the same things over and over again, something of which most politicians do to get their semi wrong point across. He should be rightfully called out on some of this stuff. It's tiring to a lot of posters and really lends nothing to a constructive conversation. (let's not forget his douchey responses he gives when people call him out on it)

Meh, post stuff that’s factual and not misleading instead of getting all worked up.

Under some circumstances. Jesus you are insufferable

When I listen to Dr. Henry I believe she is trying to walk the line of what a prolonged absence of no schooling can do to kids, long term implications like learning and mental health. NOWHERE do I get the idea that she is trumping the health of BC citizens over business...cmon wtf?? You can be insufferable Let me ask you this KOS, are YOU okay with dealing with the long term affects of the mental well being of a generation of kids growing up now? I mean, since you like to constantly criticize, don't you think that this is an angle to be looked at, or are you one of those guys that's happy just bitching and moaning without any meaningful input??
