I just noticed how bad Parise's contract is. He's 34, will 35 this off season and will have the balance of 6 full years of a cap hit just north of 7.5M per year. It can't even be bought out easily.
He has a degenerative back disease and was lucky to play hockey again. I believe he had some type of back fusion surgery but if his back starts to fail again he will be medically unable to play so The Wild should be able to get rid of his cap.
They (management) rolled the dice and went “all in” with not just him but Suter as well. Understand their decision at the time (window of opportunity often is short and waiting forever to do something could be just as bad as doing something rash)
