Benning has multiple personality disorder. How can he preach about getting younger, faster, and more skilled at the draft every year and then drop 10 million a couple days later on old, slow, grinders.
I don't get it.
This guy goes from zero to hero to zero every single year.-
I'm calling this my "asset management" lineup. Gaunce is the main one being exposed to waivers (Boucher, Kero, Sautner, McEneny as well but that's what AHL depth is)
Baertschi Horvat Boeser Leipsic Sutter Eriksson Roussel Beagle Virtanen Goldobin Schaller Granlund Gagner Edler Tanev Del Zotto Gudbranson Pouliot Stecher Hutton Biega Only Boeser in that lineup is waiver exempt. That means if we want Pettersson, Juolevi, Gaudette (or anyone else) in the lineup someone is either getting traded or put on waivers. Not impossible, but also not much value there. My guess is Pettersson makes the jump and the Canucks ditch Goldobin for a 6th or 7th round pick.

@Wilbur - That line-up is a 31st place finish waiting to happen. That second line is a 3rd-4th line on a playoff team. That third line is a medicore 4th line on a playoff team. That 4th line is an AHL 1st/2nd line.
I don't understand how they preach about making space for our rookies and then they literally fill all the holes with aging veterans.
The "protect the young kids with grit" mantra only makes sense if THE KIDS ARE &^@#ING PLAYING. Like what the hell? That line-up doesn't even contain Juolevi who needs to make the jump this year or he's verging on bust territory. Pettersson, Dahlen, Gaudette, and perhaps even Hughes should be given space if they show well at the prospect tournament. So why the hell sign so many old grinders? Makes no sense.
