Boy, what an uneventfully forgetful period of hockey that was. @LA Kings: You can keep your brand of hockey & your shiny-helmeted team. I doubt that I will EVER buy a ticket to see this particular team play “live” in an arena anytime, soon.

It’s like when Trump said he wanted to make a Space Force, because it would sound so cool! LOL To who?? LA Ownership: “Hey, why don’t we make the players wear some “Sci-Fi” looking helmets to capitalize on the kids who like that kind of crap?” Kids/Parents: “What’s with those helmets?! Who would ever wear or buy that kind of crap?”

I’m reminded of how I am typically uninspired or not that entertained when the Canucks play vs Kings’ hockey. Battle through this ‘Nucks! It might be a special teams contest,… and here we goooo!

Yah, his comment WAS perhaps a poor expression of gratitude towards a franchise that he was privileged to “Captain” for a good portion of his stay in VanCity. But, I wasn’t expecting him to be currently celebrating the results of that tenure,…especially while his professional pride could be hurting’…yet he should be more mindful that he should be shouldering a portion of the responsibility &/or accountability for the team’s past/current year end results, himself. Instead, he appears to be shedding accountability, like a snake sheds it’s old skin. But, even with his very glib & throw-away comment, we can’t negate the truth in his words, seeing as we-the-fans have not had many opportunities to actually be in those seats for some ‘true’ play-off pushes or runs, over the past decade.

I kind of see CanuckClay’s take on Bo’s reply to what was a multi-faceted question posed to him. The first part of the question posed to Bo was: How does this rank for you in play-off pushes…? Bo’s previous NHL play-off pushes in his long-tenured time in VAN, many years as Captain, were few with the lengthiest run being a bubble-run & 1/2 a season played with limited or no fans even permitted to be present. He expressed his excitement at now being in TRUE play-off contention, (with fans fully-present), & with little or no talk of tanking, as there has been recently here in VAN. Canucks Nation has a near desperate desire to get & retain draft picks after some poor lottery luck in the past & many draft picks traded away. There is mostly positive & hopeful talk on Long Island, compared to what Bo had experienced during his last couple of years as Canucks’ Captain, wondering if he was trade bait or worth re-signing after seeing so many former-core leaders &/or loyalists unapologetically cut-lose, dispersed or even shopped about like: Markstrom, Tanev, Toffoli, Stecher & presently OEL, Garland Myers & Boeser. Given his current 8yr/8 million$ per contract, his mind-set is all about reinvesting. He must feel on very good & solid footing & also eager to ingratiate himself to the Islanders fan-base, by sending out more & more signals to ‘everyone’, that this is the case. I don’t know if this is actual “shade” being thrown upon VanCity & Canucks Nation, or an honestly glib comment upon the circumstances he had genuinely endured before joining his new team. Players here are STILL being juggled, re-auditioned & recruited as prospective first-team Canucks. They also seem to toss personnel around like falling leaves. More stability would serve ‘em all well & better, starting now! I understand why going through 3 half-baked rebuilds was NOT something to be celebrated by Bo, especially when it was brought up to his remembrance, for commentary. Massive missteps by ownership like the “Tortorella-experiment” or having Bruce Boudreau become a dead-coach walking, (to name but two) delayed what I hoped would be a far steadier trajectory towards team success. I want to see more than just a few league-bonafide super-stars wholly supported by a deep Cup-worthy team, as those special players enter their prime! So, put me in the camp of being willing to cut Bo just a little bit of slack on this one. Cheers!

Mental energies unite for Petey next game y’all!!!

Hopefully, in the future, there may be more “slaying-the-dragon” type games versus these guys,…for now, see ya at the draft this year ‘Hawks!

Benning had 2 1st round picks in the same draft & despite all of the lacklustre signals that appeared afterwards, he just wouldn’t let that earlier pick go. Separating JV from a worshipping possee earlier, was probably the only hope of growing-up that Virtanen had.

And the Canucks sent McCann away because they ‘thought’ they needed to separate Virtanen from someone with a similarly immature or distracted attitude. Wow, McCann is still an NHLer & has just scored 38 goals for the Kraken. Someone decided too early to back the wrong horse.

Andrew Ladd was totally under-rated, also. He went on to Captain the Winnipeg Jets & play in some respectable international hockey tournament games too.

McWard made the team next year, in the 1st period tonight.

Doubt many Canucks fans hate on Toews they way we hated on Duncan Keith. Keith just couldn’t control his temper or worst impulses for whatever reason & often used his stick or a stray cheap-shottin’ elbow to enact some imagined vengeance or display his goonery. I cannot respect a player off-the-ice who won’t respect his union bros or fellow human beings on the ice.
