  1. Canada just a breath away from tying it vs Panama - twice. Disappointing to have a pretty sweet goal disallowed, late. Regardless, it still looks like they will finish 1st in CONCACAF. Applause & cheers!
  2. I said it too! That save could likely be his best save of record as a Canuck. Yes or no? Try finding an example that tops it.
  3. Just think, as Podz is, JT once was… and as JT is, Podz could become. Glad he has both JT & Bo as mentors. Just hoping Podkolzin & his wife are finding good ‘n’ solid friendships here amongst his ‘mates & their families & that he loves being a part of Canadian society. I really want to see the rest of his transformation into the player that helps to bring the final grand prize, of a Stanley Cup back here to VanCity! Make-it-so!
  4. I’m a passport carrying Swedish-Finn by descent. In Finland the graveyards are full of Swedish & Russian names, as the ‘ruling’ classes would frequently swap responsibilities, but the common people stayed very much “viking spirited & Norse” akin with Norwegians in their “sisu” for life & living - for sure! Look at the flags of Scandinavia - they appear this way for historical reasons. Scandinavians share a great deal of commonly-mingled folklore & historical literature, too.
  5. Shorty is an amazing announcer! He’s the best in this market, since Jim Robson. I can’t wait to hear him call the Canucks’ games - in their next Stanley Cup Final! What a gem!
  6. My favorite all-time Scandinavian Canucks’ players are: Thomas Gradin (current team Scout) Mattias Ohlund Jyrki Lumme (seen about town) Jarkko Rhuutu Johan Hedberg Sami Salo Mats Naslund Alex Edler Yannick Hansen (still present) Eddie Lack Henrik Sedin (still team committed) Daniel Sedin (still team committed) Jacob Markstrom Currently: Pettersen Hoglander Always hoping this team will acquire more Swedish and/or Finnish players. Their education system, compassionate societies, hearty upbringing in northern oceanic climes where hockey is life, all highly recommend them as candidates to make more permanent adjustments to this Canadian market place of Vancouver, BC in particular.
  7. And anarchists lingering around from the G-8 and Olympic events. They tried the same crap earlier but due to the more benevolent & less tolerant nature of citizens at those previous events, were shouted down, quelled & outed to members of the security agencies there. VanCity then completely failed to anticipate all of the anarchists & stupid people spilling-out & piggy-backing onto the 2011 Stanley Cup celebrations or eventual rioting, as it turned out to be. Instead, the city invited practically the whole province into the downtown area to watch game-7 upon big screens, & failed to prepare for the possible repercussions of that in man-power, to protect downtown property & businesses should things turn sour. During the Olympics so many events were happening simultaneously & there were thousands upon thousands of benevolent international visitors & brigades of volunteers helping to catch, shame & out all of the trouble-makers. That amount of good will just wasn’t present on the eve that the NHL hoped to award the Stanley Cup to the league BOG’s President’s team. The NHL by then was oppressing our hockey team for the second time, (in a SC-Final series vs an O-6 with a lengthy drought). They used hired propagandists & slanderers, like Don Cherry & Ron MacLean on HNIC to promote the Bruins brand coast to coast, using CBC-funded tax dollars to do it! These turn-coats maligned Canada’s team nightly & were apologists for all the drama atrociously misinterpreted by a specially selected group of senior officials, who will be eagerly grovelling for league jobs, after hanging up their whistles. This situation was exasperated by an unsupportable suspension & non-Bruins-suspensions - all decided upon by un-recused persons, very much beholding to the most powerful parties involved. We see the results of that loyalty test, even still, today. Brian Burke’s unqualified son was given a seat on the DPS, helping to decide suspensions & matters of influence in play-off races, the fate of “consultation-fee” paying teams or their star players. Burke as a former league sheriff & Bostonian, not so apparently, advised in the Rome suspension, which went unreported at the time - but was revealed later. His reknowned vindictiveness & infamous quarrels with long-time professional foe Mike Gillis - should definitely have recused him from that! Backlash for all of this anti-Canucks fervour from sponsers & real hockey fans, the following season forced an “on-air” apology out of Ron MacLean, and eventually shook the CBC to its’ core. But the dirty deeds had already been done - resulting in harm by foul play, and the consequences were now irreversible. These were the kind of tensions existing in our fair city that caused a number of extremely disappointed & disillusioned Canucks-fans to join in the otherwise “anarchist” lead rioting - once it had begun….or to do very little to stop it, as other stand-by citizens had previously been more successful in doing - during afore mentioned scenarios.
  8. Ron MacLean’s incessant name-dropping at times makes me wonder, if he is collecting perks or pay-offs to plug all of these people, wherever they may be…..or - will his vast sack of trivia simply explode all over the place, if the show doesn’t let him leak-out at least a couple dozen tid-bits of useless information a segment. Some history exploration is charming, but Ron’s motor-mouth & patty-stacking of facts or fiction, actually detracts from the point of the conversation,…which is alarming.
  9. Black towels won’t show up - especially on tv. It wouldn’t look like much of anything at all. A black light show with the Orca appearing upon the ice & swimming across the crowd,…that I could get behind, as a goal-celebration! Is that already happening, now? Just issue each seat a black sheet of paper & call upon those “Olympic/closing ceremony” guys to work their video, lighting, hallogram magic with the orca-thing! LOL. Why not! Just let ‘em know we give a damn & care-a-lot?!
  10. Bieksa doing his former team a solid on HNIC, where as the rest of the panel virtually ignores the compete-level & the heart of one of the hottest-trending teams in the NHL. If the ‘Nucks get in - at least Kev will have their backs. Glad you’re there KB3!
  11. That’s it. Make ‘em Team-Futility or Team-Turmoil all over, again. Duncan Keith & Evander Kane are their answers,…huh?! Serves ‘em right.
  12. ^This is how we help our ‘Nucks counter any underwhelming compete-levels or performances on home-ice. Make-it-so!!
  13. Really? Off the top? Did someone other than Ron or Kelly pipe up?
  14. HNIC just had a 1 or 2 minute discussion during the EDM vs CGY 2nd intermission, where they praised Demko & talked about the Canucks’ come-from-behind attack upon the teams ahead of them in the wildcard race. They did not, however, suggest or mention that the Canucks could as easily catch the Oilers for 3rd spot in the Pacific Division. HNIC has their favorites, but while Ron & Kelly provide the lip service, the Canucks won’t be among them.
  15. Oilers do NOT have goal-tending. Period. Their Achillies-heel, as always. As we cheer “All hail, Thatcher Demko!!!”
  16. Definitely lookin’ thin ontop compared to the amount of “Flow” sitting next to him.
  17. Bieksa basically admitting the Oilers are depending upon the refs to keep ‘em in the game. ‘Nucks are going to catch these Oilers. That’s my prediction. McLean talks about how our ‘Nucks are advancing upon a possible wild card spot, yet didn’t mention how they could just as easily reel in Mickey-D & the Oilers. Believe it, Ron!!
  18. Fill the seats at the rink & bring in the use of the terrible towels a little earlier than usual, this season! These next home games WILL be just as important as play-off games! ^Start the campaign for this -now!
  19. Good observation. The battle of Alberta is something of a track meet.
  20. Still wanting to boo Duncan Keith in-person, as much as ever! LOL. And no finger-nails left. Tofolli can’t draw a penalty tho’ obvious. These refs are too Soiler-friendly!
