But can he throw a hip check? I'm stoked he could be a fantastic partner for Hughes. Will we still have Hughes by the time he's ready??

To be fair there was only But left on the board I had above Willander by a wide margin. The other guys Wood Sale Perreault Barlow weren't guys I was pounding the table for. They were only above Willander by a C hair. Happy to get a toolsy RHD.

It was mostly a tongue n cheek comment as with most humor theres an element of truth. But certainly more of a chicken little take than a serious one. There are defo some players to be excited about next year at the top though.

We're tanking this year for Mackiln. If we don't get 1st OA we'll trade Pety for it. He's gonna want max money's to stay here. Start the rebuild.

Peace is great but as soon as you over pay him he ceases to be great and becomes just another over paid D on our roster like the rest.

As much as I wanted Pecarcik I'm absolutely thrilled with this pick. I believe in a players history being a solid marker. Guys like Allen and Hunter were steals of the draft at their draft position. Pekarcik rose to about a level I had pegged him early and the u18 fuel'd the fire. It was great to see. But Hunter dropped well below where I thought he would be available. I think their both great players and I'm happy we got one of them. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. But I'm stoked. The later 3rd and onward picks were head scratchers to me. But it's people's ft job to make those picks there were absolutely guys I was pounding the table for and I'll probably make a post later about steals of the draft. But for now I'll throw my full support behind these kids even If I'm a tad salty we didn't grab any of. Allen, Ciernik, Sotheran, Minnetian, Pinelli, Konyushkov, Goldsmith, Asplund, Forsfjall, Jarventie, Kostadinski among others who were IMO low hanging fruit at our picks.

I mean what message does that send the team? Waive OEL Myers Brock stick em in the minors. Waive the dead wood.
-
I honestly don't understand the overage picks. Bogdan Konyushkov and Oskar Asplund to me were head and shoulders above the guys we picked as overages guess we will see. I hope our scouts have done their homework Willander is a head scratcher too. Trusting the professionals and hoping for the best.

I dunno why you're getting paper bags

Why would his waiver exemption status matter if he's too good for the AHL
-
I suppose you're right. I thought he played great for a 4th rounder. Out paced Leks and Dvorsky in the all sven. Played great at the wjc20 too

On Perkins over Ciernik?

I'm a Lil choked but hunter was a good pick too. I'm more upset on missing on Cirnek

Big Hamhuis fan obviously. Hope you're right.

I'm happy. Looking FWD to watching him develop. He's fairly unknown to me so I guess it makes it more interesting.

Oh I get that. Just is his absolute ceiling mid pair D? Isn't that something a GM should be able to acquire by other means. What happened to difference makers and wanting the guy who can blow the roof off?
-
Is it just me or does 11 seem pretty high for a guy who had a decent u18 as a 2nd pairing D and has done nothing really else? Struggling to produce in Swedish JR. I fully admit this is not a player I know much about. He was not on my radar at all until very recently. I'm super happy we finally drafted a RHD though. Does he have Dobson upside? I certainly hope they have watched a ton of Willander and know that they are doing. Of course Detroit takes Danielson and But goes the pick directly after ours. Little steamed but still very happy to have a toolsy RHD prospect. Hopefully he will excel in the NCAA and eliviate all of my worries.

I really like that Arizona did the thing what a draft for them if it pans out. The biggest baddest best skating mofos in the draft and their team mates already.

Well I'm gonna probably miss the draft for a work BBQ. Hopefully they do good. One of Simashev, Reinbacher, Danielson would make me happy.

Ritchie opens up about shoulder injury that hindered draft year Calum Ritchie played with a torn labrum during his entire NHL draft season. It prevented the Oshawa Generals centre from being as physical as usual and shooting as much. It also may explain why the Oakville, Ont. native dropped from No. 6 to No. 21 on Bob McKenzie's list of top prospects. Ritchie, who recently had surgery, appreciated the chance to clear the air with teams at the combine.

You can still have both.

Completely ignoring the state of our team and the state of the world. Removing all biases from the equation. I think the bpa's at our pick are. Gabe Perrealt and Eduard Sale when I listen to that clip where Alvin describes his vision of difference maker. in this draft I think Perreault all day. When Alvin lays out what it lakes to make the next level. The guy who most exemplifies having the IQ and the skill to become our next franchise player. To me it's these 2 who have potential franchise IQ/Skill level fwd at our pick. The rest of the top fwds I see being great top 6 players but not ppg+ franchise players. Where guys like Brindley Heidt Benson compete really hard it's easy to fall in love with those guys. How much more do they have to give? When I watch Perreault and Sale I feel like they are just scratching the surface of their potential. On D It's Simashev guys his size who skate like him are unicorns. Where Reinbacher I think is a great pick too and would be thrilled with either Reinbacher I think is closer to his final form (play is more polished) where Simashev has more room for growth as a player. Pick either of them and I will be a very happy Canucks fan. Willander I haven't seen enough of to project but Im more interested than I am with ASP Gulyayev PWF's can be the difference between competing in the playoffs and a quick exit. Daniil But, Wood, Honzek and Kasper Halttunen to me But leads the 4 of them by a wide margin with IMO Halttunen being closer to Wood than Wood to But. regardless if we do trade down it would be very wise to get one of these guys as having one of them in your top 6 can really change a team from pretender to contender. The C's there really only is one here at our pick that I would spend the 11th on and it's Danielson. There's really nobody close Heidt, Ritchie, Stramel would be great trade down options. I'm just not buying Yager or Moore as top 15 players and Dvorsky I must have the wrong tapes on.
