At that time was our 1st the thing that was prohibitive? They aren't getting their asking price. Chych posted 7G 14A -20 this year.

So I'm not gonna make a Brock proposal let's just say he's gone Ideal world we got a decent pick or prospect in return though I would also be pleased with a deal involving one of. Ryan Graves, Artym Zub, Andrew Peeke, Jokiharju. Moving on. There isn't room for both Garland and Hoglander in the top 6. It's a shame their 2 of my favorite players. I'll start with Hog. Placing value..... He's 7th in points for his draft class so I would think we would all agree he would be considered a 2019 top 10 pick. I would expect the type of return a top 10 pick would return. To Arizona Hoglander + Poolman + our 1st To Van Chyhcrun I think our biggest weakness on D is that we don't have a shot. OEL is our only D who has directed a respectable number of pucks at the net. With Hughes on the PP Chychrun I think breaks 20G no sweat. Sure we spend our 1st but we spend it on what we actually need if we truly are going to try to boot this window open. If this isn't adequate to get the Chychrun Poolman dump deal done IMO it should be... Alternatively I would look at Garland. I think if Garland is here next season I will buy his jersey. Boy do I love watching CFG pour his heart out on the ice. 5V5 Garland sits 32nd in the entire league in points I consider him a bonifide 26 yo 1st line winger on a sweet heart deal locked up through his prime. If Johnny G can do it Garley can too. One thing that stands out to me is the number of PP's Garland draws. Looking at what teams culture (locker room) would actually appreciate Garlands tenacity and have pieces to make the deal. My primary target would be LA and their embarrassment of RHD. To LA Garland + our 1st 16 OA To Van (2021 8th OA) Brandt Clarke + Lemieux rights. (Can we have Helenuis too?) We turn the clock back and get the player we needed to draft in 2021 who was never going to be there at our draft spot. Ok so the LA thing is pretty ideal world tra la la skipping through daisies. Real world To NJ Garland and our 1st 16 OA To Van NJ 1st 5OA (Jiricek) + Zacha Rights. I think thats pretty fair in the sense that I'd be right on the fence to do it or not. Alright have at er.. Ah Shoot I put this in the wrong section my apologies. Mods please move to proposals and armchair GMing.

Right but 6m for Boeser is? Even if Miller tails off at the end of the contract he would still be better than Boeser because he can do other things if his production dips. -

I don't think Miller will be the anchor many seem to. I mean everyone seems to be willing to give big money to kids who haven't earned it because they might one day live up the the contract but aren't willing to pay a guy who has earned the contract and proven to be worth it seems back asswards to me. -

Spoon fed cush min's. He's got 28 even strength points. Compare that with Garland signed under 5m who has 49 even strength points playing much harder deployment mins. James Neal scored 40g hit and fought played rugged and still got bought out when he dipped to Brock level numbers. -

What's crippling is the country club polo shirt, fedora and pleated khaki brand of hockey he plays. He's a great guy really likeable. Do we wan't to identify as the really likeable nice guy hockey club who pay guys who have as many hits as they have goals 6m because....... Great hair. -

I'm fine making a hockey trade. A guy like Andrew Peeke could be of use to us. 24 years old 6'3 hits, blocks shots, plays hard mins makes under a mill. Jokiharju has wheels untapped offensive upside and has been much improved defensively could be a guy about to break out. Adam Graves 6'5 shut down D can log 20+ mins consistently Artyom Zub good 4/5 all round D on a decent 2.5m deal -

6m for a slow PP specialist who doesn't engage physically or do anything away from the puck. You aren't repairing his value he's straight up a buy out candidate waiting to happen . -
A lot of talk about a core piece not being here next year.

Ya I guess we'll agree to disagree. IMO Myers is getting the Edler treatment. As soon as he's gone it will be OEL. Then if Hughes faulters.... Nux fans are getting a bit of a rep for undervaluing guys like Tanev Edler playing OEL Myers mins. -
[Proposal] Back to OTT for another...
hammertime replied to HKSR's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Posted Monday at 08:48 AM Ill preface by saying I don't mind our current defense. The fundamental problem is age. A few guys I would target if trading Brock. As I highly doubt teams are going to be clamoring to give us their 1st/2nd round picks. Ryan Graves NJ He'd probably be my first pick. We need big minute shut down lefty to unleash OEL from that role. NJ Has Bahl, Siegenthaler, Shak they don't need 6'5 Graves too. Atrem Zub OTT I really like him he flies under the radar makes simple plays hits blocks shots plays stable and reliable mins. Ott could use Brock I think he'd be a real good fit there. Andrew Peeke CBJ 4th in blocked shots and 30th in hits he's 24 6'3 playing hard mins I like this kid. Jokiharju BUF could they use Brock? Joki's offense is what got him drafted but his defense has come a long way with his skating he could keep up with Hughes pace and might just break out offensively. Now do one for Peeke and Jokiharju. JK...... However I also think these are very very viable targets for a Brock trade. Especially Peeke. I like the Idea of having one of Schenn, Peeke, Burr, Myers on the ice at all times banging bodies. Jokiharju would be somewhat of a gamble with huge upside with his mobility if he finds a home w Hughes. I like the proposlal. Buuuuuuut I'd be surprised if they would take the bate. As @HighOnHockey said trading Zub would crate a hole for Ottawa. So I doubt they would also do the first swap. However possibly something like Brock and our 3rd for Zub and their 2nd? Having a early 2nd would be huge for us. -
J.T. Miller -- Low Probability of a 7 or 8 Year Deal
hammertime replied to HKSR's topic in Canucks Talk
5x10.5 I'm fine with. Like we won't be able to replace 100pts via trade. It's not just the points though, Marner could put up 100 too but doesn't hit or win FO's or battle down low or lead the charge the way Miller does. The cost to fill the void would greatly exceed 10M in salary alone not factoring in the additional moves that would need to be made that would weaken us in other ways. Ideally we get him on a 5 year deal even if its a big number he has earned a big number. If we get him on a 8 year deal 7.75-8.25m I would also do. I think he ages more like Marleau than Player Name. End of the day I think he gambles on himself and takes the higher number 5 year contract in hopes that he's still playing in the league at 38-40 on a 5-6m retirement contract he signed at 35. Brock's gotta go that money reallocates to Miller. We lose a 1 dimensional 25 goal scorer. I think we see Podkolzin Garland Hughes Pete elevate their games and fill that void without issue. Holtbeast, Halak, Virtanen come off the cap in 2023 Possibly the cap goes up a bit and we have more than enough $$ to re up Bo and start planning for EP's extension. I think present tense our D group is not an area of Immediate need. The focus in this regard needs to be the future because it's bleak. We need a home run at the draft this year on the back end. Also I think we need to find out what we have in Jack Rathbone. If we don't do something now about the future of our D it's only going to get harder to correct. -

I think you'd be surprised at how big a hole it would create to trade Myers without replacing him which will cost more than 6m going by what D are getting these days. -

90 points 11 mill still seems high. Boeser get's to go play on another team for 7m I think you're low on Pod he's got 2 more years on his elc we've seen how far he's come in his rookie season give him 2 more years and I think we'll be closer to 5-6m -
