I guess Abby needs Martin playing meaningful games? -
If we stay at the pick I think we're taking a FWD 1 of Kaspar, Lambert, Kemell, Yurov. If trade with say the Yotes we probably get 2 of.. Gaucher, Beck, Nyman, Bichsel, Chesley, Pickering I'm ok with either of these scenarios lets not ignore a Nic Hague on the board because nobody's taking Kole Friki'n Lind.

[Proposal] Brock, Myers, Hoglander OUTTA here
hammertime replied to HKSR's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I Think we may have to use Hoglander to move cap out unfortunately. Doubt we can afford Crouse Pete Miller Bo -
Ott 1st for Brock or no deal. I digress. While Severson for Brock would be great and I think would be an ideal world starting point for conversations. I think Graves works as well for us and better for both teams while being more attractive for NJ and being better long term for the Canucks big picture also costing less. I like Kaspars chippyness also Gaucher they fight for their ice and get under skin thats i think a huge quantifier for NHL success. Big Will Lockwood fan Burrows, Garland, Maxim Lapierre, Roussel should have never gone to Dallas. I want guys with a lil Jarko Ruutu to their game.

[Proposal] Brock, Myers, Hoglander OUTTA here
hammertime replied to HKSR's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Tks for the shout out! I would rather not move Myers our best RSD for a 3rd. I think adding Graves would take pressure off not only OEL but Myers too and we would hopefully see our D settle down as a whole. (Less Chaos Giraffe). Josh Manson is 30 so signing him long term is just a bandaid. There's 2 more years left for Myers if we stay the course and plan for that we should hopefully be able to draft and develop or Trade for an upgrade without signing 30 yearold defensive D's long term. I kinda think Manson Graves Lyubushkin would be overkill. One of them would do. Hughes Schenn OEL Myers Graves Burr Rathbone Dermott Is pretty alright by me I would like the Canucks to try to sign Nichushkin LW and Sam Carrick RC pest. Nich Miller Garland Pearson Pete Pod Hoglander Bo Lockwood Lammiko Richardson Carrick Much as with the D we don't have to go overboard and swing the pendelum tooo far we just need a fire starter to get Bo Miller Nich Pearson Schenn Burr Myers playing with a more physical mindset. Then we will see Pete Hughes Garland Hoglander flourish. We don't need a goon when a pest will do. And we don't need 3 defensive D's when 1 good one will do. I believe in this team. I don't believe they have played their best hockey yet. Maybe we look at moving Myers/or Garland if Hoglander takes the next step next offseason to pay Bo and Miller's extensions. The main problem with this team is identity we don't know what we are. What I see is a bunch of guys with a whole lot of pride and a whole lot of skill catching lightening in a salad bowl. It's there........ We just gotta find a way to contain it. I think the answer is team toughness. Who thought last year the Flames would be the team they are right now????? What changed? Miller Tkachuk Pete Gudreau Bo Backlund Demko Marky Our D their D heck Gudbranson looks good.....? What happened. On paper we're better. Did they goon us last game?? Na... Their intensity was much higher. They must have doubled us in hits. -
Ill preface by saying I don't mind our current defense. The fundamental problem is age. A few guys I would target if trading Brock. As I highly doubt teams are going to be clamoring to give us their 1st/2nd round picks. Ryan Graves NJ He'd probably be my first pick. We need big minute shut down lefty to unleash OEL from that role. NJ Has Bahl, Siegenthaler, Shak they don't need 6'5 Graves too. Atrem Zub OTT I really like him he flies under the radar makes simple plays hits blocks shots plays stable and reliable mins. Ott could use Brock I think he'd be a real good fit there. Andrew Peeke CBJ 4th in blocked shots and 30th in hits he's 24 6'3 playing hard mins I like this kid. Jokiharju BUF could they use Brock? Joki's offense is what got him drafted but his defense has come a long way with his skating he could keep up with Hughes pace and might just break out offensively. To the Draft. Somehow we need 2 of Kaspar C Gaucher C Beck C Chesley RD Bichsel LD Lamoureux RD Warren RD It pains me to say I think Hoglander is the guy who can return 1st/2nd round pics and maybe help dump a Poolman/Dickinson. I'm not keen to move him but I have a hard time finding a fit for him in the top 9 there are only so many spots for undersized skill guys and right now Garland is performing above what I would project Hoglander's ceiling to be locked up through his prime. Trading him will be a hard choice that doesn't need to be made this year.

Darn TooT'n -
So you want a unicorn? I think I would trade or let Brock walk I wouldn't expect much in return a 2nd would be ideal. But I imagine we'd be taking a contract back I think we would be lucky to make a hockey trade along the lines of. Brock to NJ for Ryan Graves 6'5 defensive D Pitty for Danton Heinen surrey boy utility mid 6er wont cost Brock money. Ott Artem Zub Det Oskar Sundqvist I think we should go after Nichushkin in free agency and sign right shot bottom 6C pest Sam Carrick. Our team needs to be harder to play against we don't have to go crazy with it but we do need more aggressive checkers. To bring more of a team aggression identity out of Bo Pearson Hoglander Pete Nich Miller Garland (In your face) Pearson Pete Pod (Run the offence through Pete as it should be with wingers who dig pucks) Hoglander Bo Dickinson (I think Dicki will rebound as a winger) Lammiko Carrick Lockwood (You mad bro?) Richardson Highmore I don't mind our D especially if we get Rathbone involved. The fundamental issue is age in 2 years we will not be fine. I think we need to fix that through the draft. We don't need flash we need 2 of Lian Bichsel, Ryan Chesley, Maveric Lammeroux and I believe we could trade down to achieve this. I would like to re sign Richardson retire him a Canuck at the end of next season, hopefully keep him in the org as a skills coach. I think with this kind of lineup everyone stands an inch taller without needing to goon it up we increase our physical presence exponentially and draw penalties where our PP should be lethal and has begun steps in a positive direction. Along with this our PK must be equal to the task hopefully Richardson can have a Vanek like influence except on or PK. Special teams are what killed us this year. 5v5 we were among the best. We need to turn our special teams into a strength. If we can do that we will be competitive. Look at Calgary their team went from directionless to contenders all by buying into an identity.

Myers is full value in my books. I don't think people understand how much our team relies on Myers play. -

He blocked that shot earlier looked like it stung. On the shift where him and Highmore both limped off after shot blocks. -
