  1. Nemec Jiricek Reinbacher Simashev Bichsel ASP/Nelson I wasn't a big Korchinski, Minty, Matey fan. I thought Nelson was the best PMD in the draft last year. So I'd have them about here. Then probably Pickering Rinzel Warren Bonk Strbak Lamoureux they'd all be pretty close. Trying not to use hindsight. Wow Lane Hutson what a season.
  2. Ok I'll talk super Lucic slow for you. We need to be adding big bang for budget guys like...... Motte, Liam O'brein, Jack McBain, Will Lockwood if he could stay healthy, Sam Carrik, Gemel Smith, Klim Kostin, Will Cuylle, Reid Schaefer, Juho Lammiko, Pezzetta, Hathaway, Jake Evans, Teddy Blueger, Not flippin Looch. Our 4th line needs to be able to keep up and shut down. We need PKers who play fast and in your face. Not mean mugging pylons. It sucks we didn't get prime Ferland, Roussel together that would have been so fun to see. We've got a few good ones in Podkolzin, Bains, Bloom these guys take a little while to blossom thankfully Ryan Johnson, Tocchet, Foote know a little something about playing that role.
  3. My one reservation here and I too feel that nervousness that Wood could flip the script and be a top 5 pick heindsight......... Is do I have Post Tkachuk stress disorder?
  4. I have But at 9 in this tier. 6 Reinbacher 7 Danielson 8 Simashev 9 But I have Wood sorta clumped into this group. Where I am very comfortable in saying each of them would complement our core and slide right into our top 6 but doesn't have to start there. 10 Sale 11 Barlow 12 Leonard 13 Wood I'm good with Wood here as I've seen what Miller Pete can do with Brock and I think Wood would be a clear upgrade. My top 15 I feel safe to hit on all 15 of those picks. Sure there are always questions but I'm taking the guys with more answers. Other lists may have a greater appetite for guys like ASP, Benson, Perreault, Gulyayev, Dvorsky, Moore, Cristal. I'm not sure if their Hughes or Honka personally. Probably would have traded a small moon for Honka in 2015.
  5. Myers is fine over paid but he plays an important role. Cap space would be nice but not at the cost it would take. Would love to add Mayfield. They just have to find a taker for one of our redundant wingers. Kampf would be a good target too but I feel like signing him to 3m x 3 would be a Beagle esque move. We should try to fill that spot internally and if the team is able to put themselves into a playoff position there will be options at the deadline. If they can't put themselves in the playoffs without Kampf he'll just make us that much more mediocre. Would love to bring Lammiko back and I think a guy like Gemel Smith could find a home here. We need to fix our PK but shouldn't have to pay millions to do it.
  6. Why did we let Juho Lammiko go? He seemed like a great fit. Lammiko Aman Joshua would be a fantastic 4th line in todays NHL.

@Drakrami Hughes, Pettersson, and Demko are from the old regime too. Might as well trade them away to "make a statement".

@Dazzle You should think more before you react. Read it. They need more room to make a statement.

Moving Hughes, Pettersson, and Demko? Not unless they want to get fired. So the room they had left was to refit people from down below, which meant 4th liners like Lammiko.

@Drakrami I was being sarcastic. Moving players because they were from the old regime is stupid decision making and I just highlighted the reason why.

  7. Wood is a very promising prospect as well. One thing I try to stick to as I've been burned many times before. Is I try to avoid ranking guys on potential. "Oh he will become a better skater, he will learn defense, he just needs coaching and his IQ will improve, he will fill out and become stronger on pucks" etc. I try to rank more on certainty "what is this player showing me right now". Yes that absolutely means that I'll miss on some gems. But I've just personally found more often than not when I've made these excuses about a player they have disappointed. The fewer excuses I make for a prospect the higher they are on my board these days.
  8. Apples to apples Daniil But. He's got the size and the shot but he can also fly if he gets a lil runway infront of him.
  9. I want a 4th line of guys who embody the style of. Derek Dorsett, Brad Richardson, Maxim Lapierre, Jarkko Ruutu, Ryan Johnson, Matt Cooke Guys who can line up against the other teams stars shut them down and make them take penalties in frustration. They can't score from the box. Speed, defensive acumen, tenacity, toughness, pestilence
  10. This is a real bummer. Understandable but a bummer none the less. I'm really high on Michkov, But, Simashev and have them all in my top 10 on merit. I think there is a good chance Simashev and But fall to the 2nd. If we do indeed trade down if Chibisov is trusted by Alvin and has a good read on these kids. This could be a franchise altering draft or it could blow up completely in Alvins face. Aside from Reinbacher who I think goes before our pick. The players that when I watch I think would be the absolute best guys to complement our core it's Simashev, But or Danielson. When I think about it though even if Danielson is on the board who I have at 6 (I doubt he will be). I would 100% trade that pick for both Simashev, But.
  11. I mean I'm talking bout a depth fwd here. I'm not billing him as a top 9 guy. I'm just saying that this is the type of depth I want to add fast tough high compete guys who can pk and grind but aren't completely inept offensively and can capitalize on some of the opportunities they create. I don't want a slow face puncher that can't pk or defend the rush.
  12. Omg you have to be kidding me. He's a complete liability every minute he's on the ice. He's sub Tom Sestitio quality at this point.
  13. The Vancouver Canucks are proud to select. Dabilmore Desmoreski
  14. On this I kinda agree. I do think he is a good player and has put up incredible numbers but I do think he is about to become a net zero player on his next contract. Brock is not in the same breath as Debrincat though. Kuzz is probably a better Canucks comparable. Give the edge to Debrincat for 6M as he's scored 40+ twice and Brocks scored 30 nunce.
  15. I know man. I been pumping this guys tires. I love guys who play net front $#!T disturbance and forcheck hard maintain pressure and give D fits. Hameenaho is the type of guy that pins teams. This is exactly what I look for with late 1sts early 2nds and beyond if they are still there. To me he's a prototypical 2nd line guy that can play anywhere in the top 9 and contribute. When he comes off the ice he's created a more favorable situation than when he got on it. An "ice tilter" He's a guy you'll love behind the scenes. If he is still on the board in the mid 2nd when the price starts to drop he is absolutely one of the guys I would move up to take and I am not an advocate for moving up.
  16. Your bar is too high. Just saying. We are picking 11th not top 5. Yes I agree I too prefer other players to ASP who are closer in their development, but I have seen guys like Stetcher, Bear, Hughes, and Garland down low have success with this sort of bump defense that ASP employs so well. ASP makes a lot of contact all the time he's getting touches in. He isn't registering hits I wouldn't call them hits but he creates just enough disturbance that they cant make a play. I loved how often Stetcher would put guys offside with a lil bump before they crossed the blue line. To be real Axel won't be in the NHL any time soon. He's a good 3 years out which is a lot of time and there is a degree of risk associated with that which is why he is down my board but I do think he can surpass a Hronek level player. He's not completely defensively deficient like a Jordan Subban he actually competes quite hard, he's just built like 14 yearold right now. I guess I just don't understand how you could be so high on a guy like Lekkerimaki 7th OA on your board who isn't a Patty Kane, DeBrincat, Point etc but hold ASP to a Makar, Hughes or Fox standard?
  17. I said what I said. Looch is ECHL quality. The only reason he's in the league is name recognition his paycheck and goonery.
  18. LOL Gemel Is miles better than Looch. He's fast and is a very good PKer put up PPG in the AHL has never had a chance in the NHL playing on very good teams Tampa and Dallas. He's not a great fighter but he's a willing combatant and he can play C he's literally excatly what we need. He can be signed for league min and start the year in Abby. We don't need slow guys who can't play. We need depth guys who can keep up don't cost anything and while their up with the club play a role. We can't afford to be paying the price for a Jeannot esque trade. Or the cap hit for another bottom 6 fwd.
  19. Hell no to Looch. I want guys who can skate and PK and play a role. I want Dorsetts. Give me Gemel Smith please.
  20. This is kinda the worst case scenario. I think I would be happy with any of Honzek, Sale, Barlow. I doubt they pass on ASP though. It would be a tough choice for me between the 4. There is a bug in my ear that says the 2 best players on the board are But and Simashev. Does Alvin have the Cajones?
  21. Re Garland Benson comparison. Mostly in the sense that they are both high motor hard on pucks players who compete in every area. However struggle in tight checking contests and thrive in scrambles.
  22. Felix Nielsson would be a great get. I'm kinda looking at 4ths and 6ths. With my post regarding Kalle, Isac, Berglund I kinda have my 3rd round targets. Ironed out.
  23. Seems like Kalle could be a good get. I'd love to see them grab 2 BIG physical D out of the 6 remaining picks. A couple of Dvorak, Carter Sotheran, Gavin McCarthy, Matteo Mann, Kostadinski, Brady Cleveland, this kid Berglund, and use the remaining 4 picks on a 2way C a PWF/Skilled pest and 2 big swings (don't let the guy go by who has no business being available at your pick just because they don't meet the preceding criteria. Alvins "difference makers")
