Couldn't hurt to try at least while he's on the payroll. I'm not sure if killer instinct can be coached but kid's can at least be prepared for battle should the situation present it's self.

Prospect watch Jack Bar potential late 2nd/3rd RHD former Penticton Vee now playing with Chicago Steel Committed to Harvard 2022. Efficient puck mover from the back end who uses powerful strides to jump into the rush. Still a work in progress, his combination of size and skill give him potential as a two-way, puck moving defenceman at the NHL level. Bar has an intriguing combination of size, skating ability, and offensive skill. He has good mobility for his size, able to elude forecheckers before firing a clean breakout pass or skating the puck out on his own and he likes to join the rush to create odd-man situations for his team. One of Bar’s greatest attributes is his proficiency on puck retrievals in the defensive zone. He protects the puck well, shielding off forecheckers with his big frame while controlling the puck in his feet and more often than not, he is able to escape pressure by spinning off his check or dishing the puck to a teammate and getting open for a return pass. He can try to do too much at times, however, and will skate himself into trouble on occasion. He has good defensive instincts and defends the rush well but he can struggle with his change of direction when puck carriers attack with speed. Still a raw prospect, Bar has potential as a second pairing puck mover but his floor as a solid number five or six defensemen at the NHL level feels pretty safe. Nick Richard https://bchl.ca/stats/player/6617 https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/503032/jack-bar "Hockey is essentially part of my identity," said the 18-year-old. And it could also be Bar's professional future. The 1.87-metre, 88-kilogram Newmarket, Ont. native is ranked as one of the top 32 players in the 2021 National Hockey League Draft. This was supposed to be his year to shine, an opportunity he's worked for since his dad laced up his skates as a two-year-old. "It's a season I've been waiting for pretty much my whole life," Bar said "It's every kid's dream to get drafted into the NHL and hopefully play there one day. "It would be a dream come true." It's possible with all of the uncertainty he has slipped under the radar If JB can acquire an additional pick he may be worth taking a chance on late in the 2nd or if he falls to our 3rd.

I wouldn't be opposed to bringing Sutter back if the price were right.
-
Foot speed won't be an issue standing infront of the net. I'm not suggesting he play 15+ mins just powerplay o zone faceoffs and occasionally inserted when teams are taking liberties. I whats the point of having Pearson Bo Motte Rous Beagle Sutter If you don't use them to give yourself the opportunity for favorable situational deployment.

Really feel like Gadjovich has been written off undeservedly. We have so many great shooters but just brutal netfront presence. Evidenced by Brock playing garbage man. Taking away Brocks shot IMO is a huge issue on the PP and we are doing it for our opponents with deployment. Gadjo may not get many mins 5v5 but make no mistake he is elite infront of the net. He will also feed Tkachuk his lunch if needed which IMO is needed.

While agree once we get outside the top 10 it's highly likely the top C's Eklund, Beniers, Johnson, Svechkov and D's Clarke, Luke, Edvinsson, Power, will be snapped up. There are other needs the team has they could choose to address. like a high end playmaker as we have some talented shooters in our top 9 and a dearth of sauce. or You really can't go wrong with a goalie named WALL....... There could be some high end wingers still floating around Guenther Lysell. There are other options that may be better than grabbing say Morrow or Ceulemans with our 1st just because they play the desired position.

Ok you win. We don't "have to" probably should though. -

Guys I would target would be: Radko Gudas, Carson Soucy, Cernac, Scott Mayfield. They would cost something of value but the price may be worth it. After that the hopefully cheaper options that we would end up with post draft. Matthew Benning, Dean Kukan, Caleb Jones, Kurtis Macdermid, Brett Kulak, Robert Bortuzzo. If we can get a great deal on one of these guys you gotta do it. However we will not be the only team looking to meet draft requirements hopefully we don't have to over pay. -
Prospect of the day. This is a kid to watch for me. We could really use a playmaker. If the Canucks manage to win their way outside a top 10 pick this year. This kids name will be one I will be listening for with each pick that passes. One of the younger players in the draft too. Arguably one of the best passers of this draft class, Pastujov’s confidence and poise with the puck is already at an elite level. His passes are crisp and clean, and he anticipates his teammates well. Pastujov can take the puck end-to-end, and defenders will struggle to push him off pucks. His ability to separate himself from opponents and create space for himself is excellent. He’s also a dual scoring threat — Pastujov will either pass off to one of his teammates, or put the puck in the back of the net himself. Even more deadly is his ability to find teammates when not on the rush. Pastujov can turn defenders inside out with spinorama or behind-the-back passes through the crease for his teammates to tap in. Pastujov also reads the ice well and puts himself in opportune positions when he doesn’t have the puck. A strong skater, Pastujov can drive to open areas of the ice to receive passes from teammates. His agility and edgework gives him solid lateral mobility, and Pastujov can change directions quickly while maintaining control of the puck. His stride could benefit from more power and explosiveness from his first few steps, but when Pastujov gets moving, he’s difficult to catch. Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - Jan. 23rd: "Pastujov is a goal scorer with offensive creativity. The 17-year-old leads the USA Hockey National Team Development Program Under-18 team with 30 points (16 goals, 14 assists) and four power-play goals in 18 games."Steve Kournianos - The Draft Analyst - Jan. 21st: "Pastujov is incredibly clever with the puck and can play either the power or finesse game. He is a quick skater with a clean stride but his biggest assets are his hands and hockey sense. He simply knows how to get open, exploit opposing weaknesses, and create an open shooting or passing lane."Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Nov. 27th: "Another player who presents dual threat ability. Excellent hands and a big-time release."Corey Pronman - The Athletic - Oct. 8th: "He stands out because of his skill and playmaking. He is the kind of player who can hold onto pucks for an extra second to make a play, can run a power play and has the hands to beat defenders 1-on-1 consistently."Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - Sept. 14th: "Pastujov is one of the better passers in the draft and he consistently makes plays through several defenders to lead his teammates into space. He’s also one of the younger players in the draft despite already being fairly physically mature. " Dat hustle. Somehow this isn't offside? https://smahtscouting.com/2020/12/20/scouting-report-sasha-pastujov/ https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/512165/sasha-pastujov

Everyone wahts a whipping boy. Myers has been so underrated for us this year no way do I want him exposed. I do not want to be playing him over and over in Seattle. Our forwards can't take what he's dishing out. -

2021 UFA's signings (Discussion)

I'm more interested to fill our lineup with Podkolzin, Lind, Gadjovich, Rathbone. Re sign Hamonic, Edler possibly re sign Sutter cheap. use next season as a development year. We go into 2023 with capspace and a team that is ready to take the next step. I personally feel our PP is crying for Gadjovich infront of the net. He may only play 10 mins a night but with effective deployment he could be money. -

Starting this tread by saying Schnider was better than Luongo seriously? Did you watch him put up 2 shutouts in the finals against Boston? Did you? This narrative of yours is such carp. Maybe if the team scored a few more goals he would have lifted the cup and gone down in history as the greatest goalie in franchise history. But instead the media hung it around his neck and you bought it. The canucks scored 8 goals in 7 games there isn't a goalie on the planet that can work with that. -
Don't be so quick to write the kid off I'm sure he will have a fantastic AHL career.

Can Kirill Kaprizov Podz like Podkolzin? Their game is not really comparable it's like saying can Bertuzzi shoot like Naslund neither can perform each others strengths. To be fail Kirill is a fantastic prospect. No need to be Jelous. Podkolzin is 19 years old Kirill is 23. Things to consider? I have always been a wild fan (best logo in the league next to Detroit) so good for them. What a steal of a 5th round pick 5 years later nobody expected it.

I would really like to see Lind + Gadjovich graduate next year. With the cap being what it is we should look at next season as a development year and invest in giving the youth a good long look to see where we are at going forward. Hog Pete Boeser Motte Bo Podkolzin Gadjo Miller Lind (Sheltered with Mad Miller mentoring) Virtanen Beagle Gaudette Zack Myers Hughes Schmidt Edler (Bring Edler back for 1 year) Hammonic Juolevi (Shut down) Jet Bone This lineup just fits under the cap with Loui going somewhere 50% retained.

I am not one to over rate Gadjo though I do think he at the very least he eventually finds a home playing 4th line minutes inserted situationally. One thing IMO is indisputable about his game though is his ability in front of the net. Q: What is the Canucks current problem on the PP? A: Brock freaking Boeser picking up the trash. From the shadows enters the Dadjovich......... PP1 Gadjovich Boeser Horvat Pettersson Hughes PP2 Zac Myers Hoglander Miller Schmidt I can't help but feel this configuration would be a hell of alot more effective than our current PP config. We need to get Brock back in his office regardless of how many goals Gadjo scores overall he would increse our PP output just by his presence net front. I think also having his presence to ride shotty when our stars are getting roughed up would be invaluable. He may only play 10 mins a night but with the right deployment those could be very effective 10 mins.

This is a very good list. I am much higher on some players than you are (I would have Eklund in tier 1) however I think your list is quite realistic in terms of how the actual draft order will go.

I'm more focused on C and D if we are drafting top 10. Looking at fwds good teams are built down the middle. For me I really like Svechkovs game he and Podkolzin united would be a dream come true 3rd line. Chaz is just an absolute snipe show I probably have him too high but then again I might not have him high enough. Raty again much like Svechkov he's the guy we need 200ft C. He has struggled a bit this year after being ranked 1st OA. This year is a wacky one for a kid playing in Liiga during a pandemic. I think he's much better than his current ranking what impresses me most is how mature his game is his positioning and play away from the puck his game seems to really transfer well to the pros coaches will love him. He's a fantastic playmaker which we need. Guenther is a human highlight reel I should probably have him in Chaz spot as he is a much better skater. However RW is pretty crowded for us. So that's the main reason he didn't make my top 12.

I agree on Power not much stands out to me other than his size. Edvinsson though I like the motor of Edvinsson he's got hustle and skates so well for his size and age. Lysell I keep seeing high on lists what really stands out to you about him? Kent Johnson Love my BCHL kids I wanted Newhook but was happy with Podkolzin didn't think he would make it to us.
