New Jersey - Vancouver (Proposal)
hammertime replied to J.I.A.H.N's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Yeesh Jan. If you look at the entire history of the Canucks. We have never had a franchise D. I mean we are talking Lumme, Edler, Ohlund, Salo,....... Doug Lidster? in terms of best D to ever play for the Canucks. Like ever. You don't go trading Hughes you move heaven and earth to get him a partner to reach his full potential. A Ham to his Juice. Sure Hughes +/- isn't great but he's a rover and we literally have him paired with a 7/8D a guy who spent most of last year as a healthy scratch. Surely his numbers would be better alongside a 25yo Seabrook. Instead of trading Hughes JB needs to be putting in the leg work to find Hughes enabler. -
(Rumour) Virtanen on the trade block

Regardless of value and fit. I see no reason why PHI would be motivated to part with Laughton who seems to fit their squad. -

(Rumour) Virtanen on the trade block

If TO wanted to get rid of Bill that bad they can just expose him in the expansion...... basically the only reason I could see JB acquiring him is to protect Holtbeast from Seattle and that could certainly backfire. Maxemilliam on the other hand might work but I don't see any reason why Chi would want to make that trade. -

(Rumour) Virtanen on the trade block

honestly I dislike Nylander and have talked a lot of trash about him in the past. However if Pete okd it I would accept it. 6x6 isnt a good look and TO should be looking to move him for whatever they can get. If its Virtanen Pearson or something like that going the other way I would be willing to take the chance. -
I agree and you are right. This topic is troll bait. However it is plain to see he is in a funk. I we can call a funk a funk. It's probably a good thing the kid is facing some adversity. Kid cake walked into the NHL it's good he's having some growing pains. Stands to reason though to your post if he was rolling we would probably be doing more winning.

Value of Dougie Hamilton (Discussion/Proposal)
hammertime replied to J.I.A.H.N's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Just my opinion. I myself once advocated for getting him before he became a cane. I just don't want to see a FA signing made when the team wasn't ready handcuffing them when they are. -

Our track record with FA signings especially big money ones ain't pretty. I feel like the team is on a good course. Trying to turn the clock forward with FA signings could easily be turning the clock back. -

IMO this is exactly what we should not be doing. FA needs to chain JB to a tree for the opening of free agency. OEL was an opportunity to swap bad contracts. Moot point anyway. If you're paying DH 7.5 how much are you paying the NHL points leading D? I would like to see Edler back to retire a Canuck. We acquired Schmidt for a 3rd. I'm not sure of this ransom you speak of. -
Ya 3 days does not seem like enough. I'm not a doctor but that appeared to be more than mild. Hopefully he makes a full recovery.
