  1. never really thought about that. I guess it was Naslunds fault Clouts couldn't stop a beach ball. missed the point anyway. for the most part bertuzzi and Morrison made loud noises and shook trees while Naslund snuck in for the surgical strike. he was silent and deadly. Pete is also a sneaky player he isnt going to go end to end and beat the whole other team himself hes more cerebral.
  2. Naslund was a guy you wouldn't notice many nights then look at the score sheet and he had 3 points. He was sneaky good like that. Pete has a bit of that he flys under the radar. He doesn't take over and dominate games like McDavid, Matthews, Ovechkin etc.
  3. you know who else never had a dominant game. Markus Naslund he just kinda quietly went about his PPG play. Pete is fine
  4. Wait until he gets paid no fanbase turns on their stars faster than the Canucks fanbase.
  5. If you want to be realistic. look at guys who could get a foothold in the bottom 6 Podkolzin, Lind, Gadjovich,. Or bottom pair cool breeze. would love wrathbone or rafferty but if I'm being real it's probably someone on D who manages to play the whole game without being noticed.
  6. Agreed. My thoughts are Both Holtby and Myers are dangled to Seattle. Either way we regain some cap space for bandaids. Until the great salary purge 2023 when Loui Beagle Rous, 12m become available. This is the course we are staying on. 2 years of pain for long term gain. 2 more top 10 picks I don't see anyway around that 2023 is the plan that is where it all comes to a head. Hoglander Pete Boeser Eklund? Bo Podkolzin Motte Miller Lind? Gadjo Focht Mac Hughes Shmidt? Hughes? Myers? Edler/Juolevi Woo? Demko With +12m online and 2 years exp under their belt this lineup might just be ready for prime time.
  7. See a fit? Nucks 2021/22 D consists of Myers Shmidt one of which we may even lose to expansion. Then Hughes, Juolevi the list basically ends there. Not signing Edler would be a huge mistake.
  8. Highly doubtful as are many on the list. What I like about him is his motor he's always buzzing around the ice stirring the pot. He's shifty he's skilled he's fun as heck to watch and at 5'7" 160 he doesn't back down from anything. Wherever he ends up playing professionally it will be due to hard work and tenacity. So he's a guy I cheer for love great underdog stories.
  9. Personally love Manukyan odds are stacked against him but he has more tenacity in his toe than most on this list. I have him as an obsidian horse.
  10. I see Lambo as a safe pick in the same light as Juolevi was. Thats not throwing shade or light at either player. He makes good players great but himself doesn't carry play enough for me to consider him great. He could be a good top 6 or a great top 4 either way I think he will be a player I'm doubtful of him having franchise D upside as Luke, Power and Edvinsson do. I also think there is more risk with those players. Storylines are great. also in this case having a 1 2 punch of these 2 kids on the ice 45 mins a night is probably too hot for most teams to contain. unless you're the 90's devils.
  11. No grudges. Regardless of talent if he puts in a PLD effort on and off the ice I'd rather call up Kole Lind and reward his hard work. Than watch JV drag his entitled A$$ around.
  12. How about 24 yearold Ferland? Anyway youre missing the point. If JV made an effort he would be an impact player but he doesn't so he isn't. He's had all the chances maybe he figures it out but rest assured it won't be here. Don't need his waste of talent around the team infecting the culture anymore.
  13. The thing that impresses me most about Eklund is how relentless of a checker he is he reminds me so much of Hoglander but with even more offensive potential. He fits very well with the culture we are growing here with Bo, Nils, Pete, Motte, Podkolzin. I'm not worried about his skating if he's walking around guys in the SHL like they are table hockey. I would have him #2 on my list behind Luke and ahead of Power. 1 Luke one does not pass on the chance to unite the Hughes bro's 2 Eklund Stated above the kids filthy IMO top fwd in the draft 3 Power yes please 4 Edvinson at 6'4 this kid can skate, shoot, hit, calmly distribute the puck. Probably need to be patient with him to add bulk. Huge upside great tools. 5 Wallstedt Yes I would take the goalie at 5 he's that good After 5 I would be happy with any of the following. In no particular order. 6-8 Clarke Activated RHD maybe not the best fit but a BPA scenario 6-8 Johnson Deaks for days not sure if he will get away with it in the show but man he's fun to watch. 6-8 Raty C Early struggles his stock will rise again The safe picks 9/10 Beniers 2 way C. 9/10 Lambo LD does all the right things you want to see.
  14. I agree Benning made the right choice mostly for financial and expansion reasons though. Markstrom doesn't have high miles he didn't really become a starter until age 27 there is no reason to worry about his play dropping off in 3 years at age 34. Plenty of goalies remain competitive into their late 30s. Calgary got a great player and team mate. With the expansion coming we couldn't have both and Markstrom wasn't going to allow himself to be exposed. There is no way JB could have moved enough salary to keep him and sign the kids to their up coming deals. I'm happy for Marky and Tanev to have gotten the deals they did great guys who deserved it. Just too bad they landed in Calgary.
  15. I think JB would make a really great AGM. He's a fine GM he just needs someone above him to handle the finer points and prevent him from signing terrible contracts.
  16. Thats quite a lot. I wouldn't do any of that. I'm doubtful Logan will ever be more than a bottom pair D and that may be ambitious.
  17. Can you imagine if Frankie read CDC and started making decisions based on how many upvotes certain posts got.
  18. I think that goes both ways. All Loui can do out there is not hurt you defensively at least Lucic can protect the kids. Their both washed up bums which one is the bummier bum is not really worth wasting braincells on. The only correct response here is at least LE's contract expires next year.
  19. I agree hundo P. However I do believe Pearsson holds some value he's a 20 goal scoring power fwd. With teams so cash strapped there will be owners looking to recoup losses in the playoffs with retention GM's would just plain be silly to not have interest. Sutter again with money retained or taking an expiring contract back or both teams will be looking to improve their depth at C. Sutter is a useful player a late round pick or prospect shouldn't be impossible just have to flip enough rocks. Rous I think stays like him or not for his on ice play. His pestilence is something that we need coursing through the culture of the team. The way it did when we had Burr, Kes, Juice, Max Lap, Rypien, running around infuriating teams getting them off their game. Beagle IMO is great for the team I have no issue with him playing out his contract. Gaudette unless he can turn into a top 6 winger hes off to Baertchi ville. Virtanen I think is just fine with mediocrity he's complacent and cushy. Take whatever you can get and get him out of the dressing room its simple addition by subtraction at this point.
  20. Desperation moves are almost never wize. Ride it out scrap the season assess and surgically strike in the offseason.
  21. Well you know..... A wize man once said "It's going to take a while for the league to recover from COVID." Woudn't it stand to reason with more and more covid contracts being signed if they took say 2 year bridge deals a la PLD in 2 years time there would be a larger list of comparables on discounted contracts.
