[Report] Canucks to part ways with Judd Bracket
hammertime replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Judd not lest ye be Judd!...... -
Here is the conundrum for the Canucks I can't see a future where the Canucks have Toffolli, Boeser, Virtanen, and Podkolzin at the same time for long.

[Report] Canucks to part ways with Judd Bracket
hammertime replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Canucks fans have always had an obsession with the guy behind the guy. Auld over Clouts, Schneider over Luongo, Eddie lack over Luongo, and no matter how well Marksrom plays Demko is the chosen one. -
Playoffs lineup 1st line Miller Pete Toffoli I agree Toffoli has bumped Boeser off the 1st line which may be a blessing in disguise for him. 2nd Line Pearson Bo Virtanen I think Virtanen is the best fit here as they will be taking every D zone faceoff creating turnovers and rushing the puck is Jakes jam. 3rd line Zac Mac Gaudette Boeser We have seen Gaudettes performance really ratchet up when given quality minutes and line mates (Boeser), Big Mac I think is the best fit here for his play down low. They may not get as many minutes as the above 2 lines but they should have high quality minutes and favorable matchups 4th line Roussel Beagle Sutter Pure shut down D pretty cut n dry Hughes Tanev Edler Myers Fanta Stetcher Extras: Ferland, Motte, Baer, Goldobin, Loui, Leivo?, Benn, Brogan, Bone?

next year? the decision on what happens in terms of his future with the Canucks will be made this year

Not that I disagree the league is certainly a younger mans game than it ever has been in the past however most cup winning teams do so with a veteran group.

Discussion: If you HAD to move Podkolzin....
hammertime replied to J-Dizzle's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
One does not move Podkolzin. What would NY get for Vitali Kravtsov? -
If JB has to pay a hefty price to acquire a player who is only a marginal improvement on Tanev I would rather just re up Papa Tanev. Hughes Tanev/Other Edler Brogan (Impressive season I want to see what he can do in Stetchers spot.) Tryamkin Myers

2m x 1 year is the max from me. If he's worth more he needs to prove it.

Sven to Scout in Europe (Proposal)
hammertime replied to J.I.A.H.N's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Fin named GM of the Seattle expansion to fulfill his dream of attending an NHL lottery. -
I would not trade Rathbone until getting a look at him. He's only 20 got wheels to burn and is putting up very very good numbers 31pts in 28 games for Harvard. for perspective Quinn Hughes put up 33pts in 32 games for Michigan before comming to the NHL. I am by no means saying he will be as good as Quinn I'm just saying don't throw him willy nilly into trade proposals without getting a look at him in the show first.

[Signing] Canucks sign Nils Hoglander
hammertime replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I honestly think this kid can develop in the NHL. He has the tools to be an energy guy while he matures. With Roussel Beagle Sutter doing the heavy lifting in the bottom 6 Hoglander Gaudette Virtanen might be a lil hot to handle for teams with top heavy rosters. -

Also consider Jaccob Markstrom likely ending up in Seattle we probably have enough to re sign Edler and maybe even hang onto Pearson and get a deal done on Podkolzin.

I miss hockey as much as anyone. However I'm not interested in 5 game series (if that were the case the Canucks would already have a cup.) No round robins no funny business the cup is the hardest trophy in sports to win If the Canucks were to win their first cup in some janky format it would be anticlimactic for me at least.

Worst skater on the team. Ya that's just not true. Also he crushes the teams fitness testing. https://nationalpost.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/ben-kuzma-beagle-shares-canucks-camp-spotlight-with-fab-fitness-stunning-speed/wcm/a73c8005-ed07-469c-866c-537013558537 I dont know why we would consider buying out one of our centers when wing is the position we have a log jam. Neither here not there the last phrase of your post is at least bang on!

Connor Bedard granted exceptional status by WHL
hammertime replied to Baer.'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Veleno is a very good 2 way player don't sleep on him. One of the reasons he was granted "Exceptional status" was how mature he was for his age and how defensively aware he was in addition to his obscene point totals. He had 2ppg in his last season in the Q and put up 23pts in 54 games this year in his first AHL season. Veleno is a stud. maybe not a franchise player but a guy who will certainly be making an impact at the NHl level. -
Center depth? Ummm buy out Beagle then Sutter slips on a banana peel. who do you call up? I would also argue beagle is a better skater than Sutter. And your argument with offensive production I would say its kind of a moot point as their primary job will be playing shutdown C where Beagle imo has out performed Sutter and been more durable. Like I said I'm a fan of Roussel and I'm certainly not on a Sutter bashing tyraid. Probably the best option if it is allowed would be to dump Luongos recapture. Beyond that personally I'd rather keep Sutter and Beagle in an ideal world as their job is a tough one. They may be the 4th line but IMO they have a greater responsibility than the 3rd line. When they get injured or have an off night the canucks loose games. If Gaudette doesn't score a goal for a month it isn't really a make or break of the teams success.

Why not roussel then? We need Beagle dominating the faceoff circle to lighten the load on BO. We have an abundance of wingers chomping to make the show. I'm a Roussel fan so I in no way want this but from a purely business standpoint Roussel is the most expendable guy with $$and term. I'd be as I stated in my post keeping an eye turned towards Meyers as we have Rafferty, Woo, (Tryamkin?), Rathbone, Olli, all pushing for a spot. Where at C were pretty Focht in terms of prospect pool.
