Sry I sorta blew off some steam on you un deservedly there.
And honestly you're not wrong in terms of the Canucks having difficulty developing Russians. Though I think a better solution would be to figure out how to better develop Russians than to just hit the ignore button.
I think this is a poor attitude.
Svechnicov is a teenager who has been playing in NA for 2 years now. If he didn't care about making the NHL as a dream he wouldn't be here. I'm sure he would be making more $$ playing in mother Russia. And yet here he is playing in such glamourous places as Muskegon Michigan and Barrie Ont!
He came over at 15 and has excelled but lets write the kid off as a flight risk.
My first reaction was shyte. Not another smallish tweener fwd.
But I'm warming up to this trade. It seems like he's a Green guy and so far the guys who have previous connections to Green Pouliot, Baertschi, Dowd have turned out decent.
Sounds like he's signing. He talks about "stability" being important to him. So thinking there may be some term and clauses attached but the $$ might not be astronomical. I'm ok with this considering the amount the cap is rising.
No it certainly does not. But he seemed comfortable in his role. He won't be relied upon to score or play a ton of minutes the way he is in Utica. On the Canucks he can keep his game simple.
Virtanen is a bull puts his head down and charges he protects the puck better when he drives from the right side. They have tried exhaustively to use him on the LW he just doesn't seem comfortable there ends up chasing the play.
There are bunch of good D yes I just hope we won't have to wait 3-4 years for this one to step on the ice. JB needs to pull a Chychrun Sergachev Werenski out of this draft and get a D who can step in sooner than say a Juolevi type.
I'm also stoked for EP. However he was fully shown up by Mittlestadt who dominated the tourney and was drafted 8th. EP wasn't even picked as a star for Sweden. I think we need to temper expectations after all Rodin dominated the SHL.
