He has a huge opportunity to just waltz up the depth chart here. Sutter Gagner Dowd He should be licking his chops.
-
Definitely bring him in at the end of the season to burn a year off his ELC I wanna see what he can do. His shot the way he pulls and pushes the puck around defenders looks like he went to the same schools as Boeser of something. His shot looks big league to me.
-
He has done quite well at it. At this point we have Dahlen, Goldy, Baer, Gudbrandson, Granlund, Pouiliot, Boucher to show for JB's "dumpster diving to fill the age gap." At this point I would say he would be better served to stockpile picks who will be ready to step in 2 to 3 years from now when we won't be getting those top picks and will need cheep depth.
-
This logic is flawed. More bullets = more targets. It's not like he's the only shooter. Would I take Boeser and Barzal hell yes I would.

As much as I love them I hope the Sedins hang em up after this season their minutes are too valuable... Daniel is leading the league in O zone starts with meager production to show for it. The youth should be taking the coosh mins while learning the game instead of sheltering nearly 40 yeaolds who often take 2 minute shifts that result in goals against because they are too slow to get the puck out and off the ice. They eat up a lot of high quality minutes I would like to see what the kids could do with those mins.

I think in essence were saying the same things. I'm on board with a bottom 6 O line. Essentially what I was saying was "managed" O zone starts with Bo and Brock and some PP reps. Where a guy like Virtanen with his speed and power game could slot in for their heavier minutes and exploit the north south game that is Bo's MO.

IMO we need Loui and Granlund playing some hard mins against teams top lines. Maybe not the best environment to start EP. Though Baertschi/Goldy Gaudette Pettersson could be an interesting sheltered secondary scoring line. Gaudette pours shots on goal and does very well in the paint with Goldy/Bae Elias working the tick tack toe. Give em some of those coosh Sedin mins.

I think the best spot to start him in managed mins has to be O zone starts with Bo and Brock. With the Sedins hangin em up Green will have a lot more high quality minutes to spread around I think Daniel currently leads the entire league in O zone starts. Bo and Brock can open up a lot of ice for the kid to have time to work his magic. Throw Granny out with the big boys when there is heavy lifting to be done. Give the kid free reign to create offence. He can learn the 200' game as he comes along and gains confidence. The very last thing I want to see is EP having to play with the Sedins who back check like they are on a Sunday free skate. Or worse stuck in the bottom 6 battling for pucks. Elias said it himself in the WJC he was struggling to win puck battles and protect pucks w his body. Lol even Yamamoto muscled him off a puck. He's not physically where he needs to be yet but that doesn't mean he can't contribute. That is the very reason we have guys like Virtanen and Gaunce around to win pucks along the boards so guys like Elias can go to work in their office. I would like EP to start the season in the AHL. Have Gadjo if he has a good camp start with the big club learning to grind with the big boys. Get some reps in then send him back to the O and call up EP for a taste, after a month or so in the "A" getting his feet wet in the NA game.

Good tournament from Elias overall. However 1 point in the elimination round says to me when the going got tougher and the checking tighter he didn't have the ability to create that he is accustomed to. I think he is still a ways away from being able to handle the size and pace of the nhl

I believe that's what you call hot doggin.

I would wager we see Burr again in some capacity. He likely takes a few years off and enjoys his family.

If Svechnikov dropped to us you'd pass?

JB made several trips to Boston UNI that season. I was under the impression JB was watching McAvoy at the time. Just an assumption I had made. As I remember myself not being very high on him and being worried JB would reach down for McAvoy. I was surprised when JB drafted the skinny fin when I thought he was a meat n potatoes guy.
-
To this day I'm still surprised that JB grabbed Olli over Sergachev\McAvoy though I am still of the belief Olli will be a decent top 4D

I wouldn't be opposed to taking him at 5 he's on my targets list however I do think there are guys pegged later who are just as good sooooo. Honestly the kid is on fire pre this season he wasn't really close to being considered a 1st usually when players spike (Kale Makar) or drop over half a season (Liljegren) the actual level of the player lies somewhere in the middle. Not to take anything away from Makar or Dobson I would certainly be happy to have em in the system.

My opinion for this draft is to go with the BPA wherever we end up and make trades if needed to acquire D. Any D we draft in this draft short of Rasmus will be 3 years out of makin an impact anyway so regardless of what position we draft @ JB will need to go out and get a dynamic top pairing D to take this team from pretender to contender. Or suffer through an Oiler esque rebuild. BEST case scenario JB dangles a huge contract in front of Tryamkin and we dont have to part wit any of our shiny prospects to aquire our big minute stabilizing force. I personally think this draft trading down for multiple firsts and seconds would be ideal. Guys I'm targeting as good fits for our group In the 1st are: "F" O Wahlstrom, "C" J Veleno, "D" N Dobson, "D" J Woo, "F" I Lundestrom, "D" E Bouchard. If JB walks away from this draft with 2 of these kids I will be elated.

Cuz I figured you couldn't possibly be complaining about last deadline with your narrative so what exactly are you complain about because your not making sense. JB has done well to only trade pix for young ready meow players. AND he has done exceptionally at getting a return on Vets and not setting a firesale precedent dealing them for scraps. Do you think he gets the deals he got on Burr and Hansen if he blew out Hammer and Vrbata for the offers tabled the year b4? Honestly I have no idea what point your even trying to make and sounds like I'm not alone. Moving on happy festivus.

1) Can't be mad about this one 2) Dorsett was worth every bit and more. 4) Ya Vey sucked but 10g 14apples for a rookie is far from terrible (decent gamble for a guy with history w your new coach) didn't work out. WAA WAA 5/12) Mallet and a 3rd+4th for Derek Pouliot I'd do again every time. 6) Gotta love that trade 5) Kassian had to hit rock bottom and I'm glad it wasn't here. Good to see him doing better sometimes what's best for the person is also whats best for the team even if it means taking a loss. 9) Etem has more points as a Canuck than Jensen and said 6th will ever get in the NHL. 10) Oops! 11) I believe McCann was a lil $#!T I can get behind the thought process of bringing in a 24yo former high D pic coming off a solid playoff performance touted for leadership and physicality. I don't think we fully appreciate Gud until the regular season ends and the real hockey season starts. The rest I didn't mention are mostly trades with many moving parts the Kes Bonino Sutter trades. Kes didn't want to be here that we got what we did with the options he gave us was a win. We come out of this with essentially Sutter, Gud, Sbisa and 2x 3rd and a 5th for Kesler and a 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Could have been worse.

Burrows talk will always be Canuck talk.

ONE thing that frustrates me to no end watching Jake is for all the swooning people do over his ability to drive wide on defenders and get a chance he never con"virts" on it. It usually only amounts to a hard but easily handled shot. Often high short side. He needs to shoot low for a juicy rebound and realize when he has a guy beat, cut earlier towards the center.
