  1. Caveat. Most of Rasmussen's points come on the PP. I'm thinking Mittlestadt/Vilardi, or if were out of the top 5 Petterson.
  2. If were spitballing nicknames I like Goldrush since he seems to be adept at rushing the puck.
  3. I wonder if with all the pillowy softness in our top 9 JB goes out and grabs E Kane this offseason. Bae Bo Kane Sedin Sedin Granlund Goldobin Sutter Eriksson Leaving Boeser Gaud Virtanen Dahlen to jell and dominate the AHL
  4. We should trade him to Ana so he can play on a line with Guzzler.
  5. I hope JB can go out and get us a super pest or 2 now that Burr and Hansen are gone our fwd group is completely toothless. I'd like a young Jarko Ruutu please JB. Git er dun!
  6. Observations: February 2017 – The Canucks acquired Dahlen from the Senators straight up for Alexandre Burrows, which definitely expedites Dahlen’s eventual NHL arrival. - Dobber December 2016 - Dahlen will try and join future teammate Filip Ahl in competing for Team Sweden at the WJC in Montreal and Toronto later this month. Dahlen has been a big part of the Timra offense this season with 12 goals, a team high, and 20 points in 25 games. He's on pace to fly past his totals from last season as he's only thee goals and nine points shy of the 2015-16 totals with half the season to go. Brad Phillips July 2016 – The feisty goal scorer played his draft year against men in the second best Swedish senior league and lead his team in scoring. A relentless forechecker that despite his smaller size aggressively pursues the puck and digs in the hard areas. Dahlen owns a good wrist shot and has good hockey sense and vision. Undrafted in the CHL import draft, Dahlen will return to Timra in Sweden again next season. Peter Harling June 2016 – Continuing with the unofficial theme of the 2016 Draft, Ottawa selected Jonathan Dhalen, son of former first rounder Ulf, with their second pick. He was a big riser in the draft rankings thanks to an exceptional second half of the season, with suggestions that he may be a late first round selection. This past year was Dahlen’s second with the Timra organization and his first full campaign in the Allsvenskan. Skating in 51 regular season games, Dahlen scored 15 times and amassed 29 points, both highs for an offensively inept team. In five playoffs games he accounted for half of his team’s offense with six goals while adding one helper. On the offensive side of the game, he’s equally adept at scoring and setting up teammate with aplomb possessing a solid set of mitts and a quick release. He’s a solid skater who does everything at a high rate of quickness. Dahlen will never be the biggest guy on the ice but that doesn’t deter him from exhibiting a high compete level and playing bigger than his size. He’s not afraid to drive to the net when carrying the puck and is a tenacious forechecker and is a solid defensive player. Coming back into the zone he keeps his head on a swivel. Likely at least two to three years away from seriously challenging for a roster spot, Dhalen could be the next in the long list of impressive Swedes to suit of for the Senators. Brad Phillips Fantasy Outlook: B Second line playmaking winger who sees time on the powerplay. 60-point upside. Sounds pretty neat to me!
  7. Without the leadership of those punching bags drafted by count Trucula himself we would have never been in the SCF at all. I don't see your point. I like Mittlestadt as well I certainly have him higher on my list than Petttersson. That may change though the more I watch Dahlen now.
  8. Right we should draft another Virtanen. He wasn't on my radar either except for minor interest until we grabbed Dahlen. However I'm curious who this saviour you see us drafting in 2017 is. We are not drafting top 5 so ruling that out who do you see as leading us to a Stanley cup @ 6-15 in this draft? If Gradin and JB decide to grab him I would trust that they know more than I do about the kid. Gradin seems to be pretty on point when it comes to digging swede gems.
  9. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=266336 161lbs and 6'2" he's a ball park frank plump when you cook em, and he is tearing it up playing on Dahlen's line. Playing against men.
  10. Pettersson is 6'2" their kids they fill out. Dahlen will likely be 190 and Petterson 200lbs by the time they are 23
  11. I wonder if this is foreshadowing that JB is looking to draft Pettersson unless of course by some miracle we draft top 5. Would be pretty neat to get those 2 they seem to have great chem.
  12. Meh he is playing really well. He has been very sneaky good at making the safe play and getting the play moving north then its off the ice. He's like a young Malhotra without the face-off prowess. I fully expect next year to be a breakout for him and I don't mean that he will score 20 but that he might play 20 in games we are leading by a goal.
  13. WD doesn't have the talent at his disposal to ice a 1st line.
  14. I agree with you on your point about performance reviews would be neat. But then you throw out Luo and Hossa as examples where I would say to date those two are still worth every bit of their cap hit and would have no reason to ask for arbitration.
  15. There isn't much drop off in talent in this draft between 1st overall and 10th overall and even less between 10th overall and 30th. Unlike many drafts in the "recent past."
  16. Sure wish we had a GM who could draft guys late like. Tryamkin, Gaudette, Boeser, McCann. Your right JB sucks at drafting. So he might have whiffed on Virtanen at the time a goalscoring power fwd was the biggest desire for the franchise. I'm not ready to give up on Jake he has the tools the stuff he has to fix is the easy stuff like eating right and growing up. Finding a PF intimidator that can play top 6 is one of the most precious and rare assets in the NHL I may be disappointed with the pick but I'm certainly not upset that JB made it if he pans out his value would be infinitely higher than Ehlers/Nylander. JB grabbed skill in Boeser, McCann with his next 2 1st rounders. If you look at his late round picks he didn't go for grinders either he swung for more skill guys Jasek Lockwood Gaudette. The JB meat and potatoes myth is regurgitated so effortlessly on this board by people who don't actually make the effort to see further than their nose.
  17. So you would have passed on Horvat too then.
  18. As long as were living in hindsight. What if we passed on consensus BPA Virtanen local born PF the likes of which this team and fan base was/is screaming for and he went on to have success somewhere else and we were stuk with puny Ehlers getting pushed around everywhere looking like Mason Raymond. You never know how things are gonna play out. We drafted the guy that fit our biggest need at the time.
  19. I pick Virtanen because I don't like Nylanders face simple as that.
  20. Your right. I honestly think faster skating would be great but whats going to make or break him is weather or not his scoring will translate to the NHL Brock should stick to his guns and hone the skills that got him the success he is having in the first place. As I stated some of the best goal scorers in the history of the NHL were never speedsters. I'm not saying he shouldn't get faster I'm just saying he should focus on translating his strengths to the NHL if we throw him out there with Bae and Bo Hansen etc they can chase pucks and feed Brock its up to Brock to make the mesh ripple.
  21. The Sedins have a great attitude and fitness and worked hard at it too. Not everyone has the muscle elasticity to have great foot speed. Hope you are right though.
  22. It is very rare that a player improves their skating as drastically as Horvat. Would be deadly if he did though.
  23. Don't let it bum like after a few too many Jager Bombs at a rainbow bar bro! Put it like this Kids playing pro hungover after a night at the roxy with a belly full of KD. Whats holding him back is easily fixable through maturity.
  24. Hahaha if you have a slow first 3 steps the play is long gone by the time you get going. That being said Bret Hull had a brutal first 3 steps Mike Modano too. I actually see Modano as a pretty good comparable to what Boeser's ceiling might be if one were to dream lol could be that they both wear green though and know where to hang out to score goals.
