I don't mind Hendrickson I see a bit of Tanner Pearson in him, there's a good potential 3rd liner there that plays hard in all 3 zones is good on the wall and can chip in a few points here and there. If he's there I'd use one of our 4ths he could go higher but I'd like D with our 2nd and 3rd since we likely use both our 1sts on forwards.

[Signing] Canucks re-sign Brock Boeser

I like the way you put it. "He plays to not get injured" That about sums up the kind of player we just inked to 6.65m -
what's caught your attention with Gavin Mccarthy?
-
I think its close and a hard choice I'm just old fashioned to use a Tocchetism Simashev plays predictable hockey. You gotta be able to close out 1 goal games to win in the playoffs. I feel more comfortable with Simishev in that regard.
-
I think I agree with this I would probably take Simashev 1st D off the board high floor defensive D He's gonna play 25 low event mins a night in the NHL
-
I know you really liked Pickering I would have been thrilled with that pick too.

I'm really hoping that we come out of the draft with these 2 guys. Carter Southeran 6'3 RHD https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/599349/carter-sotheran “When my game is going strong, I’m an offensive defenseman who uses his body a lot,” https://pnwhockeytalk.com/portland-winterhawks-introducing-carter-sotheran/ He appears to be doing just that with 19 points and 36pim in 45 gp for Portland WHL with a +15 he is a "big" reason Portland is having a great year. Juraj Pekarcik C/LW https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/731900/juraj-pekarcik Good size which he uses very effectively. He is only 17 September Birthday so very young to be appearing in 5 games last year in Slovakia's top mens league and a further 26 this year. His international JR numbers are very good here's what FC hockey has to say about him. https://nhlentrydraft.com/reports/24022/

I really hope so. I dono though I worry he will just get slower if he adds weight he does not have a frame to put much muscle on.
-
Anyway whats done is done lekkerimaki is our guy I hope he is as good as HOH says because to me it's like we are watching a completely different player. His first steps are slow he doesn't bear down on pucks or get his nose dirty enough for my liking. If he played with a bit more Garland energy with his tools I could get super excited.
-
I certainly agree. And while I agree this isn't the year to take D high. I have watched this team struggle to find a rugged PWF with scoring touch and Shut down RHD since the Sedins were in their prime. These players are like unicorns. So when I see a prospect with these qualities I value them very highly. When I see a guy 6'5 220 move like Bichsel I take notice.

Really like Danielson.

I am interested. Getting a bit of Geekie vibes though good hands lots of skill great size no edge. Guys I really wanted late in the 1st last year if we did the Miller trade Gaucher, Beck, Nyman

Curious why?

Assuming we take Benson at 5-6 Pelikka with NYI pick
-
Guess we will see. I could be convinced obviously he is very very good. We will have to build some kinda special team around. Benson Pete Lekkerimaki Hughes Pelikka Gonna need a big side of potatoes.
-
Sure we can do this all day. It's a silly endeavor yes there are pitfalls on both sides but at the end of the day we need guys with the heart of a lion and as much as I love Connor Garland If he was 6' 195lbs he'd have a lot more success.
-
I'm on board with Michkov if we are drafting an elite player potential superstar but to me guys like Cristal Benson aren't head n shoulders above a guy like Ritchie who is going to help you in every area of the game. We need more blue collar hard mins guys.
-
Shinkaruk, Schroeder, Lekkerimaki fails.
-
I mean ya we are soft as baby $#!t. Ideally we draft some skilled players who aren't soft serve.
-
I think you're way over valuing quite drastically here Jan. Also I'm all for re build too but I don't think you can just start pulling organs out of the body like this. I think we took a step moving Bo. Schenn and Miller should stay. I think Miller was great for Pod and Schenn's influence on the kids coming up is worth far more than what he would return via trade. I think we stand pat on these 3 guys. I honestly think maybe Demko goes. I wouldn't have said that a year ago. I see it 2 ways. If he doesn't regain form after his surgery then we've sold high. If he does we won't be able to bottom out and get that Crosby Malkin.
-
I think not only do we need to be addressing positional needs but we need to be drafting the types of players we need at those positions. Yes we need RHD but we don't need another offensive rover. Yes we need C but we need a strong 2way north south C who takes pride in the details. Sure take a winger but take a power FWD not another flashy feather weight. We need to be instructing our scouts what qualities we are searching for that align with the direction we want for our team so they can find those players for us. Let's build a playoff team here not the Harlem Globetrotters
