  1. During the anthem on most nights on the television broadcasts I really like seeing the Canadian flag with Pat Quinn in the background in the ROH. I appreciated Kesler as a Canuck, was a fierce competitor, but something just doesn't feel right about him being in the ROH.
  2. True, the Jets have the Canucks number but I don't think the Jets will make the playoffs. Who do they have on D besides Morrissey?
  3. Comets seem to be doing the same thing as the Canucks, surround the young players with veterans, in this case, AHL pros. I don't think it is ever too late for players like Bailey, Goldobin, even Boucher. How are the Pittsburgh Penguins so good with these 3 guys in their lineup? Teddy Blueger, 25 yrs old, 76 nhl games, 26 pts Andrew Agozzino, 29 yrs old, 28 nhl games, 6 pts Sam Lafferty, 24 yrs old, 35 nhl games, 10 pts
  4. Motte stays in, no doubt! Yes, there's still room for improvement on this roster, but I don't think Ferland and Leivo are the players to improve it. I think Green sees Virtanen as a better defensive player than BB6 and helps the first line play against better players. Meanwhile, the third line looks like it has been missing Virtanen and has been the weakest line the team has iced in the past two games.
  5. Canucks played an amazing puck possession game last night and controlled the game, wasn't even close. Love how they protect possession and make it count. That's Canucks hockey right there, not to dump and chase, not to rely on turnovers. So great to see. I'm seeing top ten team in the league right now and the class of the Pacific.
  6. Bring him up and have him play a game at RW. Size, speed and scoring. Canucks should use their depth players more and see what they have in players like Justin Bailey.
  7. Stoked, the Dragon Slayer goes to the ROH. Also wanted to make sure I had commented at least once on this thread.
  8. 6 40 9 rule number one. if on the ice with #40. get the puck to Petey. hey #6 and #40 and #9 ... take the shot. especially EP40
  9. #6 not on tonight. Canucks didn't execute. Thanks Sutter for driving the net and Gaudette for taking the shot and tying this * _____ up.
  10. Marky played well, but the goal he gave up in OT will make #15's retirement reel.
  11. Canucks are a work in progress and I'm seeing some pretty good signs they will be a good team this year. I think Green's lineup would be working a little better right now if they had been playing with the lead. That said, I don't really want a defense first team and prefer an attacking style so probably good Green's lineup not working out early and causing him to adjust the team I think they'll figure it out with the personnel they have. They've shown a willingness to try things and sit guys. I honestly thought Green would send Gaudette down, but he's still experimenting which is good. I like the way the Canucks play as it is fun to watch, but mistakes do prove costly in this system and errant passes can really look bad and right now it's looking like they have to play the perfect game to win, mistakes are really quite few but glaring and have cost the team the first two games. That and they haven't been able to score. Baertschi > Leivo Bring back #47 and park #17. Team has enough big bodies. Brown's PP strategy not working so far. Bring back last year's top unit and have a completely different strategy for the 2nd unit. Green says he liked the line Virtanen Gaudette Sutter tonight, I agree. Predicting Virtanen ends up replacing Pearson on the pk within 2 weeks. Sutter > Leivo I think Pearson should get under 14 minutes a game. Pearson and Ferland and Leivo are not locks for this team's top 6. Loving QH. He is deserving of the ice team he's getting and will be racking up the points very soon. Got to give props to Green for playing him this much.
  12. I think, all great moves. Canucks fans are so smart. Virtanen on the pk is pretty kool. He needs to find his way and purpose on this team. More ice time, more involved. Do we get to shotgun Jake for blocked shots on the pk?
  13. I like these lines. Potential for the third line to put up some points. Hopefully Beagle and Sutter put in the practice time together playing on the same line to make sure they aren't doing the same things. I think they should use Virtanen on the pk.
  14. Canucks played well tonight. They played Canucks style hockey. They managed to get some real zone time and certainly had the puck on their sticks more than the Oilers. Oilers played well and look defensively sound under Tippet. Sucks seeing Kassian on their load em up line. Surprised with how well Pearson played, skated hard, hope he keeps that up. Loved how Hughes played, such a smart player and never gives up. EP was his amazing self and came very close to scoring. Maybe the fans do know something. Was Sutter who gave up the puck to McDavid on the game winner. He chose not to skate when he had some room and made a bad pass, yeah was late in his shift and tough to give it up to McDavid, but this is where Canucks should have an advantage given they are spending all that money on their bottom six. Canucks should have a third line that can score. Leivo isn't the player to move to EP's wing when Ferland isn't being effective. Don't know who on tonight's roster could have been that guy.
  15. Gaudette playing alongside Baertschi was one of the top three things that excited me most about the pre-season. Canucks management and coaching are choosing to build the third line around Sutter, not Gaudette.
  16. I don't like the lineup and agree with you, just guessing at what I think Green is going to do.
  17. this is where I think Green has his fwd group pegged for opening night : ferland pettersson boeser pearson horvat miller eriksson sutter leivo motte beagle schaller virtanen baertschi waived if no one is traded : goldobin sent to Utica : gaudette if boeser can't go, he bumps leivo to the top line and inserts virtanen.
  18. hey facepalm guy, answer me this, is Pearson a legit top six player, Eriksson is a better penalty killer than Pearson. If I want to see a line of Baertschi Gaudette Miller, where would you play Sutter?
  19. hey Grinder... thanks for quoting me and giving it the lame facepalm... just thinking outside the box ahead of last night's game. Everyone is talking about how great our top 6 is, but in truth the line of Pearson Horvat Miller did not impress in the preseason. Sutter is not a play making centre and I don't think he can play wing on Beagle's line because they get in the way of each other, so where is Sutter going to play? Also, maybe Eriksson contributed a lot to the late season success of the Horvat Pearson combo? Leivo played alright last night, but I'm not sold on Pearson and think Sutter should be traded, and if not traded, thinking outside the box, I thought it might be possible for Sutter to find some chemistry playing right wing with Horvat.
  20. Canucks should be gunning to win game one and ice the best roster they can. This is where I'm at right now : ferland pettersson boeser baertschi gaudette miller eriksson horvat sutter/pearson/leivo virtanen beagle motte keep : goldobin (skill), schaller (checking, speed) trade for futures any/all of : sutter, leivo, pearson
  21. It's preseason and I get it, but I was hoping the line of Pearson Horvat Miller could carry the team like a #1 line and Horvat had a bad game. I think Horvat and Hughes should go for beers and gel some because Horvat had a tough time collecting Hughes' passes. Beagle and Sutter on the same line looked really bad so that shouldn't be a thing. Least impressive players last night : Sutter, Pearson
  22. Motte legit made the team last year in training camp and preseason and was a steady performer all season. Gaudette has legit made the team out of preseason this year.
